audience?Question 5

Do you think you have reached your target audience?

We decided our film should be aimed at a audience of 15+ for both males and females. This was proven to be correct as in the audience feedback we got the response of 10 out of 12 people thought this was the most appropriate age therefore we stuck to that age.

What did you include when planning your production that you thought would appeal to your audience?

As the target audience is for teenagers we decided to make the main character a teenager with psychological problems so that the audience felt they could relate. We asked them via questionnaire what they thought she should look like. We took this into consideration when getting together the props and came up with Lucinda’s look.

What has been successful in your production?

Location: In the responses of where the opening scene should take place, most people said ‘mental hospital’. We feel we have been successful in the location of the film as we were able to achieve an hospital room look.

More success - genreI feel we conveyed the genre of the film very well as when asking the audience what they felt the genre was, the majority said ‘psychological thriller’ or ‘thriller.’ We may have done this by the ideology of props we used and the type of characters we used that would be seen in a typical psychological thriller.

What was less successful?

When asking the audience how they felt we could improve the film, they suggest ideas such as ‘stereotypical main character’ and ‘less of the plot given away in the opening scene.’ Improvement - This makes us feel we should have made the main character a little different to what they would typically expect in a psychological thriller genre and to have changed the script to give less away about what happens in the film in the first 2 minutes.
