Final Cut Pro• Final Cut Pro is a software that allows clips to be put into a film, it has many

tools to help you edit your film and to make it look better. It corrects sounds and lighting to make your film look professional. The reason why I chose to use this software is because it’s easy and simple to use and I already have a experience of it.

• During the process of editing my film trailer I have learnt and used many ways of structuring my media product into a film trailer.

• The first technique I used is putting clips into sub clips, this allowed me to cut things that I don’t want in the scene and then allowed me to put the shot in a sequence.

• Another tool that I used was putting sound clips of one scene over another to create an L-cut which is very important when it came to constructing a film trailer.

• Colour Correction was another tool used in my media product. Th8is allowed me to adjust the clip saturation, and it also saved me time because I didn't have to go film the scene again if the lighting was bad so I just adjusted the saturation to make the lightning and colour better. As well as that it also allowed me to improve some colour faults like darkness and allowed me to have the same colour saturation and brightness throughout my film trailer

Final Cut Pro Part 2• The main reason why I used final cut pro is because of its

timeline element. The timeline was very helpful when sequencing my scenes and making it into a film trailer.

• Final cut pro itself allows other programs to be added to it, for example I designed titles for my trailer on Motion and added my final product from Motion into final cut pro to add to my film.

• Sounds can not always be the same throughout clips so Final Cut Pro had a system to help adjust the sound so each clip doesn’t sound different or too loud or too silent. It also saves time because you don’t have to redo the scene you could just edit the clip instead. I learnt how to adjust the sound of each clip to make it sound good.

• Knowing that I could add products from other software like motion was one of the key reason why I used Final Cut pro.

• GarageBand is a whole music creation studio right inside your Mac — complete with keyboard, synths, orchestral and percussion instruments, presets for guitar and voice, an entirely redesigned sound library, and virtual session drummers. A beautiful and intuitive interface makes it easy to learn, play, record, and create great‑sounding songs. And you can share your hits worldwide with just a few clicks. It’s never been easier to make music like a pro. Even if you’ve never played a note.

• Using GarageBand was really helpful because allowed me to construct my film trailer music. The music is very key when it comes to a trailer, So with GarageBand and the variety of sounds in it, the film trailer was completed. It was easy to use and simple because it didn’t take complicated steps to create a sound clip.

• Motion is a program where you can create fancy, cool and professional titles. Motion is an interface designed especially for editors. Smart templates for making changes on the fly during editing and easy-to-use motion graphics tools for creating eye-catching titles, transitions, and effects. Motion is the perfect companion to Final Cut Pro.

• Over the time I was constructing my film trailer I used motion to create my inter-titles for my trailer, I learnt how to use Motion last year so I had experience of it. I used Motion to create my production title and distribution company title

• Having different fonts and effects in Motion made it easier for me to make my titles, for example, I found out that there was many background effects and animation, I used one animation for my film title which made the title look more professional.

• I found this program better to use when designing my titles than Livetype because it had better looking designs and effects and overall it was easier to use.

• One effect I used for one of my titles is a spotlight, I found out I could record the movement of the spotlight and then added that movement behind the title to create a cool effect.

• The Camera is where all the filming took place, I used it to film my whole film trailer and as well as that I used the camera to film my evaluation question.

• The main reason why I used a camera was to film scenes for my trailer but as well as I that I used the camera to take test shots and pictures which then was used in my ancillary texts (magazine cover and film poster

• The camera was easy to use when it came to filming certain scenes but also easy to delete scenes which I didn’t want or like.

Photoshop

• Photoshop was really important when constructing my two ancillary texts (magazine cover and film poster) . I used it to edit my pictures of my protagonist to insert into my film poster and also to create titles on my poster. Photoshop allowed me to make the layout for my poster and magazine. The variety of fonts gave me more choices and allowed me to pick the best one for my poster.

• Photoshop was the art behind my poster and magazine cover even though it wasn’t really used during the evaluation and constructing stages of my media product (film trailer).

• To edit my pictures so I only got the person instead of the background I used Photoshop. Photoshop had a tool called ‘magnetic lasso tool’ which allowed to crop out the main bit of the picture I needed for my ancillary texts.

• I also used Photoshop to over lap layers of text and picture which was key when it came to constructing my magazine cover because magazine covers tend to have many text and picture overlapping each other. For example the main picture tends to have text and titles overlapping it making it more a background than just a picture

YouTube

• YouTube was very key when it came to the research and planning stage

• I used YouTube to research on other film trailers especially trailers which are the same genre. I watched film trailers like Dodgeball, Run Fatboy Run, Pain and Gain and many more

• YouTube allowed me to look through scenes so I can recognise the codes and conventions of a trailer and made it easy for me to stop at certain points of the film so I can analyse it.

• Another reason why I used YouTube was during the evaluation stage. The reason why I used it is because it allowed me to upload my film trailer on to YouTube so I can get feedback in the comment section. As well as that I need YouTube so I can upload my evaluation question because it’s in a video format.

PowerPoint and Prezi

• To get higher marks we had to do research using variety of different technology and software. The main software I used was PowerPoint and Prezi.

• These are presentation websites which allowed me to present my research of codes and conventions of film trailer.

• It allowed me to present my work well because there was loads of different layouts which keeps the audience intrigued.

• PowerPoint was easy to use and simple to put your work into slides which was then put into slideshare so I was able to embed it on to haverstockmedia.

• Prezi is similar but it had a different factor to it. It was more creative and looked better so I did use Prezi a lot especially during research but also during answering the evolution questions

• I used PowerPoint when it came planning because it was to make tables and charts. I needed to create tables to do the hazard test and control and also the script.

Google

• Google was very important during the researching and planning stages.

• We needed audience feedback so we had to make a questionnaire. So I created a questionnaire using google forms. This was easy as it was simple to use and had all the tools to make a simple questionnaire. It also allowed audience to respond to those question by using google itself or haverstockmedia because I embedded in there.

• It had an element where people could see previous responses and also it made it easier for me to collect the responses and evaluate it.

• I used google for the typical research as well, for example to get a question answered or to find out how to do certain things on final cut pro so I just imputed the question and got the answer. This is a questionnaire made

using google forms

Conclusion

• In conclusion, during the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages I used variety of different technology. Different media technologies were better to use than other ones because they were more simple to use or because they was the only format it should be in.

• The different media technologies used allowed me to construct my final film trailer, ancillary texts and the research and planning presentations.
