Research

• Using the MacBook to find resources on the web through Google gave me access to other inspirations for my film planning and research. Part of this included finding past film reviews and posters to inspire my own look, font and style for The Break of Faith. This was vital as I had little experience with the Photoshop software and so this created a base for me to work from.

• Research into the genre of my film gave me an insight into the codes and conventions that should be included in my film, such as built tension and a serious theme to suit the 15+ certificate. I was also using my research to conduct my survey and gain an idea as to what my audience expected to see within my film.

Planning

• The equipment was important as it played a crucial part in the planning and construction of my film. Becoming more familiar with the camera was helpful as it was of a high quality and needed practice before use. During this time I was able to learn how to fix the camera in focus and the types of shots that looked best, such as close ups.

• This was something I had planned to use within my production a lot as the shot was fitting to the nature of my film as a lot of emotion was being conveyed throughout it by my characters.

Construction• The process of using Final Cut Pro 10 software included the crucial

part of editing and constructing the shots I had filmed and put together. I wanted the juxtaposition of shots to show a clear narrative of the relationship developing and moving forward. By keeping each timeframe of shots as short as possible I could use more fragments, making it easier for my audience to understand each occasion.

• Creating a poster and film review was an important part of the construction. This included taking photos of the actors and actresses conveying the right emotion and positioning that I had planned into my layout. This process was a trial and error as I continued to adjust parts of the poster and film review. Once I was satisfied with the outcome and the portrayal demonstrated in them, I knew it was complete.

Evaluation

• During my evaluation I have used Microsoft Powerpoint and the web to find information about other media texts in order to answer some of the questions about the comparisons with my production.

• Using the camera and tripod was key in gaining the feedback about my actors and narrative by some audience members who fit my age category. It was also done in an interactive way so that there was a clear and concise answer, helping me have an understanding of what went well and how I could possibly improve when filming in the future.
