LMI, ALMIS, & WI• LMI = Labor Market Information

Coined in the 1960s to describe the National, State, & Local Economic and Labor Force Data Produced by USDOL & the States under Fed/State Cooperative Agreements & Grants

• ALMIS* = America’s Labor Market Information System* Coined by ETA in 1995 to describe a new system of data &

tools that includes: 1) Traditional LMI plus 2) ETA Funded LMI Research & Development; 3) Electronic Job Matching Tools, LMI Delivery, & Career Exploration Tools; and 4) ETA LMI Grants to States to Add Value to Existing - and Create New - LMI Products & Services (*This term is no longer used by ETA)

• WI = Workforce Information Coined by State LMI Depts. & ETA this Decade and includes

LMI/ALMIS, plus the Leveraging of Other & New Economic Data & Information from Various Credible Resources

• ETA Now Uses the Term and Concepts of “Workforce Information” instead of LMI & ALMIS

• Still, Most at the Federal, State, & Local levels use the term “LMI” - or use “LMI” & “Workforce Information” Interchangeably
