LMI TOOLS FOR MOWINS
WHAT IS MERIC?
The Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC)
is the research arm of the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
Organization consists of about 25 positions, most of which are research
analysts.
MERIC consists of two units:
The Labor Market Information unit and Economic and Workforce
Research unit.
What does MERIC do? Labor Market Information Group-
Data Collection and submission to the U.S .Department of Labor
Collects industry and occupational wage data, unemployment data and mass layoff
information
Economic and Workforce Research Unit-
Analyzes LMI data and converts into forms accessible to public (www.missourieconomy.org)
Produces short and long term employment projections, industry and occupational studies,
target industry and occupational products
Analyzes economic indicators (GDP, Exports) and provides business development projections
