Welcome to the 2013 ETA Annual Meeting & Expo! I am so glad you’re here with us in New Orleans for what promises to be our best and most memorable event yet.
This year’s conference brings together innovators from around the world as well as organizations from every corner of the increasingly diverse payments sector. You will benefit from our top-notch program, part of the largest and most dynamic exhibition in the industry, and plenty of opportunities for business to business networking. In other words, the ideas, the solutions, and the partners you’ll need to compete in an evolving business environment.
You’ll hear from industry leaders such as David W. Nelms, Chairman and CEO, Discover Financial Services and Michael Abbott, CEO of ISIS, who will provide you with further insight into the future of payments and the opportunities that await you. You will also get a chance to learn from experts on sales, technology, government affairs and social payments during our educational sessions.
This year’s EXPO hall hosts our largest and most diverse group of vendors to date. Browse the cutting edge products and services of our more than 200 exhibitors and make sure to stop by our new Mobile Pay Zone, an exhibit pavilion focused on leaders in the dynamic mobile payments industry. Also new this year is our Payments Next Zone, a showcase for innovative startups to display new payment technologies that serve global consumers. A grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is funding the $10,000 E-Pay Innovation Award for the most innovative startup.
All of us at ETA designed the conference to have something for everyone — whether you are a new entrant to the payments industry or a seasoned expert. So dive into the sessions, soak up the speeches, tour the exciting new technologies in our exhibit hall, and don’t forget to save some energy for the networking events.
Sincerely,
Jason Oxman CEO

Jack Nicklaus created eighteen unique championship holes surrounded by an expansive waterway. At English Turn each hole is different. There were no architectural cookie cutters here, and no holes designed merely to divide residential areas. Each English Turn hole challenges you with its own personality. The greens are notoriously undulating, challenging yet fair for club members and pros alike. The famed 18th of English Turn was consistently rated one of the most challenging on the PGA Tour. Norman. Faldo. Love. Couples. They’ve all taken a swing at English Turn’s 7,078-yard track and come away with a bit more respect for the award-winning Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole layout.
Buses depart the Hilton Riverside at 6:30 am. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided at the course. Club rentals are $50. If you need to reserve clubs, please specify mens / ladies, left or right handed in an e-mail to Van Voss: [email protected].

ISO Disruption Luncheon – Mobile Technologies Wednesday, May 1| 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm | Great Hall B
The payments landscape continues to evolve and mobile endpoints are challenging industry participants to find ways to address these new markets where merchants and consumers are interacting in new and different ways. They contain pitfalls and great opportunity all at the same time.
From tablets, to the cloud, technology is here to stay and will dictate who actually owns the merchant relationship.
The ETA ISO Practices Committee is sponsoring a panel discussion with industry leaders around their points of view on these technologies and the effects they are having on the ecosystem. ISO Practices Committee member, Brian Goudie of First Data, will moderate what promises to be an informative and provocative discussion with four industry panelists. Boxed luncheon provided.
Our panelists include.
Marc Abbey, Managing Partner, First Annapolis Consulting
Marc Gardner, President and CEO, North American Bancard
Phil Kumnick, Head of Global Acquirer Processing, Visa
Robin Leidenthal, Group Manager, Partnerships Intuit Merchant Services

Big Change and Pocket Change: Staying Ahead of Change in the Payments Industry
The current environment in the payments industry is character-
ized by rapid changes in technology, players, regulation, consum-
er behavior and more — all of which make it difficult to see a clear
path to the future. But ours is not the first industry to undergo
significant change, and past experience shows that change leads
to new opportunities for those who adapt, while those who don’t
adapt risk being left behind.
Against this backdrop, Discover Chairman and CEO David Nelms
provides a unique perspective on the factors that are most
likely to determine the future of the payments industry, as well
as thoughts on how to take advantage of current changes and
succeed in the future.
David W. Nelms is Chairman of the Board of Directors and
Chief Executive Officer of Discover. He is responsible for all
Discover® branded financial services, including credit cards
and banking products,
including Discover
Student Loans and
Discover Home Loans;
the Discover Network,
a comprehensive
payments network that
supports multiple card
products, issuers and
processors; PULSE, one of
the nation’s leading PIN
debit networks; and Diners Club International, a global payments
network. He is also Chairman of Discover Bank, the issuing bank
for the Discover card brands.
Before his appointment at Discover in September 1998, Mr. Nelms
served as a Vice Chairman of MBNA America Bank. Prior to that,
he held management positions at Progressive Insurance, General
Electric Company and in the consulting industry.

To Aggregate, or Not to Aggregate PRODUCT/SOLUTIONS TRACK
Session Room 1
Not that long ago, the idea of aggregating merchants under a single master merchant was taboo. But the card brand rules have changed. Today, disruptive in-novators and traditional industry players are shifting the paradigm of how payment transactions can be delivered using the aggregator model. Is it the right approach for your business? Can aggregation be the answer for clients looking for a simple payments solution for their customers? Join a panel of experts to learn about market opportunities and what it takes to tap into this alternative payments strategy, while effectively managing the risk and avoiding potential operational, regulatory and legal pitfalls.
Speakers:

Sean Harper, Product Management, Groupon
Deana Rich, President, Rich Consulting
Am I Making any Money? How to Evaluate your Portfolio and Profit Beyond the MID FINANCE & PROFITABILITY TRACK
Session Room 2
How do you know if your business is actually making any money, and what can you do to reverse pressure on revenue from price compression? A solid profitabil-ity model goes a long way in helping you understand who your most profitable clients are, while adding new services to basic card processing can open up entirely new channels for growth that enhance both your reputation and your bottomline. Get hands-on, practical guidance in building a profitability model and learn tips on how to identify services of high im-pact and return that require little effort and expense.
