NAY PYI TAW, 19 May — Those wishing to form political parties are submittingapplications stating the name of their parties to the Union Election Commission. The MroNational Party submitted the application today.

Up to date, 28 of 34 groups that submitted applications for formation of politicalparty have been allowed to form political parties.

Of the 28 groups that have been granted to form political parties, the followinggroups submitted the applications for registration of political party to the UEC today.They are as follows:-

(1) National Political Alliances League(2) Myanmar New Society Democratic Party(3) Chin National Party(4) Wunthanu NLD (The Union of Myanmar)Up to date, there were 39 parties that submitted the applications to form and to

The government is building systematictransport links through construction of roadsand bridges across the nation including borderregions so as to overcome the geographicalbarriers.

At present, the government has beenbuilding railroads with the aim of enhancingsocial and economic sectors of States andDivisions. As part of efforts to build the railroadnetwork, the 22.72 miles long Kwantaung-Ponnagyun-Yotayok railroad section, which ispart of Minbu-An-Sittway Railroad, wascommissioned into service on 15 May 2010.

The newly-inaugurated railroad sectionwas the second facility of its kind in RakhineState. In fact, it was a railroad project to linkMinbu of Magway Division located on Kyangin-Pakokku railroad section and Sittway of RakhineState. The 257 miles long facility will havetunnels and large bridges passing throughHsingaung , Padan, Natyegantaung , An ,Minbya , MraukU and Kyauktaw. Uponcompletion of the railroad, the national peopleof Rakhine State will gain easy access to variousregions of the nation. As such, the railroad willbe a drive for all-round development of theregion.

Thanks to all-out efforts of MyanmaRailways under the Ministry of RailTransportation, the smooth transportation ofrailroads has been created from Myitkyina inthe north of the nation to Dawei in the south andfrom Mongnai in the east to Kalay in the west.

ACAPLUCO, 19 May—Authorities on Mexico’swestern Pacific coast say they have detained twosuspects who were allegedly transporting 5,830 seaturtle eggs recently extracted from local beaches.

The office of the Attorney General forEnvironmental Protection says the eggs were so freshthat they have been taken to a local facility to bereburied in hopes they still could hatch.

Sea turtles are protected species in Mexico andextraction of their eggs is punishable by up to 9 yearsin prison. The office said Monday the suspects allegedlyintended to sell the eggs. Both had been arrestedbefore on similar charges and released while awaitingtrial.

M.S.T.During the past 24 hours, Southwest monsoon hasadvanced into the Andaman Sea, South Bay and SouthernMyanmar areas. weather has been partly cloudy in KayahState and Magway Division, rain or thundershowers havebeen widespread in Kachin State, Yangon and TaninthayiDivisions, fairly widespread in Rakhine and Mon States,Bago, and Ayeyawady Divisions, scattered in Shan andKayin States, lower Sagaing and Mandalay Divisions,and isolated in the remaining states and divisions withisolated heavyfall in Mandalay Division. Daytemperatures were (3°C) to (5°C) above May averagetemperatures in Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and MonStates, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago andAyeyawady Divisions, (6°C) to (8°C) above May averagetemperatures in the Taninthayi Division and about Mayaverage temperatures in the remaining States andDivisions. The significant day temperatures were Kalewaand Myingyan (42.8 °C) each, Monywa, Sagaing,Chauk and Minbu (42°C) each.The noteworthy amountsof rainfall recorded were Moegok (4.25) inches,PyinOoLwin (1.73) inches, Bago (1.70)inches, Kyaukpyuand Monghsat (1.41) inches, Sittway (1.38) inches,Kyaukse (1.22) inches, Yangon (Mingaladon) (1.18)inches,An (1.10) inches and Sagaing(1.07) inches.

Maximum temperature on 18-5-2010 was 95°F. Minimumtemperature o n 19-5-2010 was 75°F. Relative humidity at(09:30) hours MST on 19 -5-2010 was 92%. Total sun shinehours on 19-5-2010 was (2.7) hours.

Rainfall on 19-5-2010 was (1.18 ) inches at Mingaladon,(0.71) inches at Kaba-Aye and (0.35) inches at CentralYangon . Total rainfall since 1-1-2010 was (2.48 ) inches atMingaladon and (2.91) inches at Kaba-Ayea and (1.26)inches at Central Yangon. Maximum wind speed at Yangon(Kaba-Aye) was (6) mph from Southeast at (07:30) hoursMST on 18-5-2010.

Bay Inference: ACCOrding to the observations at(12.30) hours M.S.T today , the cyclonic storm “ Laila ” overSouthwest Bay and adjoining West Central Bay hasmoved Northwestwards and is centered at about (300)miles . Southwest of Visakhapatanam (India). It is forecastto intensify further and move North or Northwestwards.Monsoon is moderate in the Andaman sea and South Bayand weather is cloudy elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

Forecast valid until evening of the 20thMay 2010:Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Rakhineand Mon States , Yangon, Ayeyawady and TaninthayiDivisions, fairly widespread in Kachin, Chin and KayinStates, Mandalay and Bago Divisions and scattered inthe remaining States and Divisions. State of the sea: Squalls with rough seas will beexperienced at times off and along Myanmar Coasts.Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) mph.

NAY PYI TAW, 19 May—A depression thatoccurred over the south Bay of Bengal on 17 Maybecome a small storm. It was intensifiedfurther into cyclonic storm Laila on 18 and 19 May.

Due to influence of cyclone Laila that is notlikely to move toward Myanmar, it rained in Chin andMon States, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady andTaninthayi Divisions, Kachin and Shan States andMandalay Division. Noteworthy rainfalls were 2.20inches in Yangon (Kaba Aye), 1.65 inches in Dawei,1.57 inches ni Paung, 1.46 inches in Thandaunggyi,1.38 inches in Pyapon, 1.30 inches in Yangon(Mingaladon), 1.30 inches in Myingyan and 1.02inches in Kawkareik.

Today, rain is cattered in Kachin State, Yangonand Taninthayi Divisions, Rakhine and Mon States,Bago and Ayeyawady Divisions, Shan and KayinStates, lower Sagaing and Mandalay Divisions. Sig-nificant rainfalls were 4.25 inches in Mogok, 1.73inches in PyinOoLwin, 1.70 inches in Bago, 1.41inches in Kyaukpyu and Monghsat, 1.38 inches inSittway, 1.22 inches in Kyaukse, 1.18 inches inYangon (Mingaladon), 1.10 inches in An and 1.07inches in Sagaing. Due to rain in the nation, the hightemperature noticeably fell across the nation withintwo days. The cyclone is likely to bring continuousrain to upper Sagaing Division, Kachin, Chin andRakhine States for next three days. As monsoon islikely to enter the delta regions within 48 hours,temperature would fall noticeably and scattered rainsoccurr.

NAY PYI TAW, 19 May—According to the observations at 5:30 pm today, the cyclonicstorm “Laila” over Southwest Bay and adjoining West Central Bay has moved northwestwardsand is centered at about 270 miles Southwest of Visakhapatanam of India. The maximum windspeed of the storm is about 75 mph. It is forecast to move north or northwestwards.

The storm is now at the yellow level, and is assumed not moving towards Myanmar.Due to the influence of the storm, squalls with rough seas are likely at times off and alongMyanmar coast. The wind speed in the squalls is likely to be 40 mph, announced theMeteorology and Hydrology Department today.—MNA
