Module Programme Structure
We understand that everyone’s learning needs are unique, whether you are pursuing post-graduate education, or fit-ting continued learning around your work. Our modular approach has been developed with the Bologna Process at its heart. All modules are structured to ensure consistency in the following areas: learning, recognition of achieve-ment, and application of new skills and knowledge to your practice.• Phase 1: Preparation. This phase lasts for three months, to allow for sufficient study time and consolidation.• Phase 2: Seminar. Hands-on training in real-life situa- tions over one week, followed by individual examination.• Phase 3: Transfer. Practical application of acquired knowledge to daily practice over one to two months.
ESASO conducts regular surveys after each module to guarantee quality and to ensure that our educational programme communi-cates the latest developments in the field and meets the diverse needs of our participants.

“For the second time last October, I had the pleasure of organising an ESASO Medical & Surgical Retina Module using the facilities at my uni-verstiy in Ankara. Over 28 young ophthalmologists from throughout the world took the opportunity to study the basics of surgical retina and im-prove their practical skills with hands-on training at our excellent modern wetlab facilities and HD 3D live surgeries. My colleagues and I greatly enjoyed lecturing these young, talented and highly-motivated ophthalmo-logists. It is a pleasure and an honour to be a part of the ESASO faculty.”Emin Özmert, TurkeyProfessor, Head of Department of Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine & Vehbi Koç Eye Hospital, and Programme Director of ESASO Modules in Ankara, Turkey
“It is a very special experience for me to be part of the ESASO faculty. It is so exciting to witness how a group of young, eager, students are trying to improve their knowledge and become professionals in the field of medical and surgical retina disease. The small groups, the academic atmosphere, the convenient facility, the excellent faculty from all over the world, and the dry and wet labs, make this learning and teaching experience unique in its kind. I am proud to be part of it!”Anat Loewenstein, IsraelMD MHA, Professor of Ophthalmology and Deputee Dean of the medical school at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University
We carefully select participants to participate in ESASO programmes to ensure that learning with us is a highly rewarding experience. To encourage the development of a truly global network, ESASO partners in several interna-tional locations offer scholarships, so that potential par-ticipants can take advantage of every opportunity to learn from the best, to be the best.
