MARKET SEEING EXCEPTIONAL
FUTURE POTENTIAL
Satellite business is a very fast growing market but still very niche.
Many big players, with very ambitious projects, are now clamoring to get involved:
All of these grand schemes will require antenna design expertise
Branson and Wyler pushing ahead
with One Web
Musk wants
4,000 microsats
Gates funding
Kymeta
Zuckerberg wants
To ‘fill the sky’
Entering the GOLDEN AGE OF
THE SATELLITE BUSINESS? O3B, Inmarsat, and many others have large-scale goals
Antenna Design = Mass Collaboration
To ensure the operators, service providers, and hardware partners are happy...
close relationships and group efforts are required to design what is both needed
and what is wanted.
With Hardware Vendors we design, adapt and integrate different equipment including:
RF Antennas and Feeds;
New Transceivers such as 3W eTria (ViaSat), 1-2W Jupiter radio (HNS), 3W/5W
Transceivers (Skyware Technologies);
Motorized Pol for beam switching (if required);
With Satellite Operators, C-COM works very closely to meet their requirements for
antenna approvals and certifications including:
Conducting range testing for antenna patterns on several samples;
Demonstrate auto-pointing capabilities under different conditions (inclined
surface, pointing accuracy, etc..);
Meet wind load conditions;
With Service Providers, C-COM ensures full system compatibility with modem and
satellite service of interest including:
Develop specific interface with used modem to support mobility;
Close collaboration on new modem updates and Beta test prior to release over the
air
Case Studies
• New Jupiter HTS service offering was designed for fixed deployments.
• By design, the Polarization was manually set.
• C-COM designed, built and had Certified an Auto-Polarization unit that turns
the system into a fully Automatic solution for Mobile customers
Ka-98H
The Yahsat integration required manipulating a table of 40 geo
specific beams to allow the user to press one button for
deployment anywhere in the beam coverage areas.
HTS Modem integrated:
HNS HN 9600/9800 (US, MEA, Russia)
HNS HT1100/HT1300 (worldwide)

Viasat E-Tria Change
A new tria was introduced about 18 months after initial deployment.
New Feed Arm modifications needed to be made NOT just to new customers but to
systems that were already deployed in the field. Eutelsat customers had to follow.
Eutelsat (KA-SAT)
Avanti (Hylas)
Problem: Anomaly discovered in the .98m fixed solution deployed by Eutelsat.
C-COM Solution: Engineered and produced a .98m solution that provide an automatic
3rd axis (Polarization) to allow for a mobile solution on Hylas HTS offering
Problem: To allow mobile customers automatic Polarization for beam switching via
motorized 3rd axis. C-COM Solution: Engineered and produced a .98m solution that provide
an automatic 3rd axis (Polarization) to allow for a mobile solution on Hylas HTS offeringThe only 3-axis auto-acquire on
the market today for Avanti
