Endeavour Schools Newsletter 12th June 2014 www.endeavourschool.wa.edu.au Issue 9 Primary School Hello, Parents, Caregivers and Community Members As the weather changes to “real” winter, several points need to be discussed: If it is raining, please make sure that students wear suitable wet weather clothing to and from school – sitting around in wet clothes all day is not the best. Extra care is required when crossing roads and riding bikes or scooters to school. Care is also needed when parking around the school – please be extra vigilant when driving and/or parking around the school. The school dress code needs to be followed in relation to the types of windcheaters worn. Our new style of windcheaters look fantastic. They are available from our Uniform Shop. Well done to all of our sports teams for their great participation in the inter- school competition that ha been held over the past few weeks. Endeavour had mixed results but came out in front for participation, sportsmanship and competitiveness. We are currently taking expressions of interest for Kindy in 2015. Please see the front office for details. All applications need to be finalised by the beginning of August. Congratulations to our Junior Choir for their participation in Wednesday‟s Choir Festival at Rockingham Senior High School. A great job was done by all and special thanks to Mrs Campbell for her work in getting our Junior Choir to such a high level of performance. On a not so pleasant note, I need to mention that the area around Rooms 22, 23, 24 and 25 seem to be attracting individuals or small groups of people who are carrying out activities that are illegal. The staff and students are constantly finding illegal smoking implements in and around these classrooms which is a real concern. Reporting suspicious behaviour is one way of eliminating this type of anti-social behaviour from our school grounds. There has been a small spike in reported cases of minor vandalism and graffiti around the school also. All reports to the police and/or school security can be made anonymously. Thank you to the parents and caregivers who have paid the voluntary school fees this year. Your contributions are truly appreciated. We have kept the fees as low as possible and if you have forgotten to pay them, they can be paid at any time at the school office. It has been decided to distribute the Schools‟ Newsletter in hard copy and on-line – hopefully this will result in a much greater readership and the dissemination of important school information. Our schools‟ App is still being developed and when it becomes available, it will also be a great way to get information to the Endeavour community in a very quick way. Let‟s continue to do the great job we are all doing and „reap the rewards‟ of your efforts. Primary School

Hello, Parents, Caregivers and Community Members

As the weather changes to “real” winter, several points need to be discussed:

If it is raining, please make sure that students wear suitable wet

weather clothing to and from school – sitting around in wet clothes all day is not the best.

Extra care is required when crossing roads and riding bikes or

scooters to school. Care is also needed when parking around the school – please be extra vigilant when driving and/or parking around the school.

The school dress code needs to be followed in relation to the types

of windcheaters worn. Our new style of windcheaters look fantastic. They are available from our Uniform Shop.

Well done to all of our sports teams for their great participation in the inter-school competition that ha been held over the past few weeks. Endeavour had mixed results but came out in front for participation, sportsmanship and competitiveness.

We are currently taking expressions of interest for Kindy in 2015. Please see the front office for details. All applications need to be finalised by the beginning of August.

Room 6 and 12 News

We have been working hard in Rooms 6 and 12

to learn and practise all of our school values:

Resilience which means to bounce back when

something hurts or upsets you.

Reconciliation is all about saying sorry when

you make a mistake or do the wrong thing.

Responsibility means making good choices

and doing the right thing without being told

and Respect which means to be understanding

of others feelings and rights.

We also practised a lot for our very special

assembly which was all about Time. Did you

know time is a noun, adjective and verb? We

think time is an amazing word!

We hope that all those who watched our very

informative assembly learnt something from it.

2015 Kindy & Pre Primary Enrolments

Getting out the door on time! For many families, the morning rush hour is the most stressful part of the day. But with a good routine in place you can get yourself and the kids out the door on time. The key is to be organised. Set some ground rules and put a routine in place. It will be much easier if everyone knows what they need to do to help get ready. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to get ready in the morning. A good rule is to get yourself ready before the kids. You can prepare some things like lunches the night before to avoid the last-minute rush. Let your children know what the routine is ahead of time. Tell them exactly what they will need to do. Kids can help out by learning to do things for themselves like getting dressed and brushing their teeth. This gives them the chance to practise these skills and teaches them how to be organised. Plus - it saves you time! You may even like to try the "beat the clock" game. Your child's goal is to be ready before the alarm goes off. If they win, they earn a small treat such as a favourite snack in their lunch box. Clearly tell them what they need to do to win and set a reasonable amount of time. Avoid repeating instructions or nagging them to hurry up. It often takes only two weeks before the game has worked and can be phased out.
