From The Principals
A very big welcome to all our new staff, families and students. We hope you enjoy your time at
Endeavour.
Issue 1 7th February 2019

From the Pen of the Principals
Primary School Dear Endeavour Schools’ Community,
I would like to offer a warm welcome to the 2019 school year to all of our students and their families.
The commitment from staff to ensure a smooth start to the year must be acknowledged as they have put in many hours in preparing new programs, establishing class learning environments and reviewing student data to ensure we cater for the learning needs of all. The foundations of a successful education are built on a strong, respectful partnership involving the student, teacher and parents / carers. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher to discuss any queries or concerns.
We have a number of new staff commencing with us this year and I would like to officially welcome them– Miss Overing in Room EC4, Mrs Nielsen in Room 5, Mrs Reeve in Room 12, Mrs G Hamill in Room 13, Mr Traine in Room 24, Ms Enright in Room 21 and Mrs Smith in Room 11. I would also like to welcome back Ms Gallop in Room EC2, who is returning from a period of leave.
New School Times
As was communicated last year, in 2019 the school will have new starting and finishing times. The school day officially starts at 8:35am, with doors opening at 8:25am. Each day the school day will end at 2:45pm (i.e. no early close). If students and families arrive prior to 8:25am we ask that you remain in the undercover area until class doors officially open.
On Site School Care Provision
Last year the school undertook a process to identify a possible provider to be able to offer a before and after school care service on site. The nominated company will be in contact with the school community in the coming weeks to outline information associated with it. It is proposed that this service will commence from the start of Term 2, 2019.
ECE Playground
The next stage of the ECE playground upgrade is scheduled to commence on 25th February 2019. This series of works will see an additional nature play area developed in the north-west corner of the playground. As a result, a portion of the playground area will be cordoned off to allow the work to occur in a safe manner. I would like to thank the P&C Association and wider community for all the support in assisting us to raise funds to achieve this.
This year promises to be an exciting one, so please keep an
eye out for upcoming events in our school newsletter!
Chris Burgess - Principal
Education Support Centre
Dear Parents and Caregivers, We welcome everyone back to school for 2019 and hope you are ready for a very exciting year and that you have all had a relaxing holiday break. It has been wonderful to see all the happy faces and excited voices returning after the holidays (both staff, students and parents). Our staff have been working very hard over the past weeks preparing for new groups of students, planning for all the learning areas and working together with their year level colleagues in preparing for whole school activities. I’d like officially to welcome all our new staff to Endeavour for 2019 – Ms Macukat in Room 19, Mrs Fairhead in Room 16, Mrs Baydar who will be teaching the Health curriculum across the classes, Miss Spaanderman and Mr Dodd in Room 16 as well as Miss Moodie in Room 6, Mrs Cliffe in EC6 and Mrs Reid in EC6, Room 19 and Room 23 – we are so glad that you are working with us this year and we are sure you’ll get a very friendly welcome from everyone at our Schools. As we begin the school year here are a few reminders and some important information for all our families; Health Forms and Computer Use Agreements – You will have received these forms on the first day of school this year and we ask that you send them back as soon as possible please. These forms provide us with the information we need to ensure your child’s health and safety at school every day. The parent and student signed Computer Use Agreement is required by each student before they are able to access our computers and iPads so please get them in as soon as you can so that our digital technology lessons can begin for the year. School Bus applications – if you live within the Endeavour ESC bus zone and you’d like your child to catch the School Bus then now is the time to apply! You will need to apply on-line with School Bus Services at https://www.schoolbuses.wa.gov.au It takes about 2-3 weeks for applications to be assessed so now is a great time to apply if you are interested. If you require any more information or assistance please let us know in the office or give us a call on 9524 5000. Hydro lessons – Room 9 will be our first class attending Hydrotherapy lessons at StateSwim in Secret Harbour this term, starting next week and running all the way through to Week 9. Due to the size of our classes this year we will be having 2 swimming teachers for each lesson which will ensure that students get more focused instruction during their lessons. ESC Camp 2019 – Yes that’s right……all ESC students from Years 1 - 6 are invited to participate in our biannual overnight camp (2 days and 1 night) later this year supported by our marvelous ESC staff! All the details are being organised at the moment and we’ll give you all plenty of notice so that you can begin the preparations. Here’s to another fantastic year at Endeavour, where every
child is special, valued and supported in everything they do.
Jayne Gorbould - ESC Principal
Parking around the School
We ask all drivers to please show courtesy to our neighbours and not drive and/or park on their lawns and driveways. With the weather being so lovely at the moment, you might choose to park a bit further away from the school and enjoy a short stroll. Please be aware that the two car parks at the front of the school (Endeavour Drive) are for STAFF or ACROD PERMIT
HOLDERS ONLY.

Did you know… 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70? Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world? Over 1000 people a day are treated for skin cancer in Australia? Check out this website for more facts about being sunsmart; www.sunsmart.com.au. Children whose parents model sun protective behaviours are more likely to practise sun safety themselves. So don’t forget to:
Slip on a shirt; Slop on some sunscreen;
Slap on a hat; Seek some shade; and
Slide on some sunnies.
Endeavour Schools have EFTPOS facilities available in the front office. This facility can be used for payments over $5 such as contributions, swimming lessons or excursions. Smaller amounts must go through the class money books.
Parents are encouraged to make payments in advance for any future expenses such as swimming lessons, incentivals and excursions.
These payments will be held as credit in your child’s account and then allocated against excursions as they occur.
Payment can be made by cash, EFTPOS or direct deposit. Credit card payments can be made over the phone as well as in the office.
A change to our payment plan policy will mean that all incursions / excursions will need to be paid IN FULL before the due date otherwise your child may not be eligible to attend.
If you require any more information, please see the front office.
PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS OF CLOTHING, DRINK BOTTLES AND
LUNCH BOXES SO WE CAN RETURN THEM TO STUDENTS WHEN THEY
LOSE THEM.
