We hope that you have enjoyed reading Elite Tampa Bay as much as we have enjoyed producing it. Not only is this a special holiday issue, it also marks an

important milestone: our sixth month in production.

As I reflect upon the challenges that come with publishing today, I can’t help but to feel a great sense of pride. It stems from having assembled a team of extremely talented and hard-working individuals who are just as passionate as I am about our publication and what it stands for.

I am particularly excited about the uncharted path that lies ahead, and as we move forward into 2014, remain grateful for the support and loyalty of our readers and sponsors. What will a new year bring us? I’m a firm believer in positive energy and that what you focus on is what will eventually happen. We should be grateful for the successes that we have and share it with those that are less fortunate. That is why in our first six months of production we have donated over $50,000 in ad space to area non-profits. In this month’s issue you can get some pointers on making sure that your philanthropic donations save you the most money on your 2013 taxes.

I think that we can all agree that our childhoods are the building blocks of our future. I have been fascinated with books ever since I picked up a copy of Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. So, becoming a publisher was a natural result of a lifelong obsession with reading. Perhaps what I love most about being a publisher though is my ability to meet great people and share the way that they live the good life.

There have also been individuals who have not only supported our publication by aligning their brands with ours, but have left lasting impressions on me via their commendable drive to make a difference.

We hope to deliver stories that empower, delight and enrich people’s lives, and encourage you to share your ideas and thoughts with us.

The dentist office has never been a place that people look forward to visiting. There is a unique office in South Tampa that is about to change that for patients. When

you enter The Family Dentist, Dr. Ron O’Neal has created a space that is anything but clinical. The idea was to create a space that would make patients feel at home and to celebrate Tampa’s rich history.

TAMPA DENTIST CELEBRATES

City’s Rich History WITH A ONE-OF-A-KIND OFFICE

Page 16: ELITE TAMPA BAY DECEMBER

16 Elite Tampa Bay December 2013

The inspiration began with the old Tampa courthouse that is set for renovation. In partnership with designer Deborah Granado- Hayes (The Red Herring, Details Interior Furnishings), interior doors from the courthouse became the basis for the design of this unique office. The US Tax Office door became the entry for Dr. O’Neal’s office complete with jury box chairs where you can hear the verdict about your dental health. The Jury Assembly Room door in the rear of the office is where you can find staff when they are not attending to patients in this busy practice. Deborah and Dr. O’Neal have done their part to preserve the past and utilize the history of one of Tampa’s landmark buildings.

Entering the office, patients are greeting by a cozy, home-like waiting area with a mix of mid-century office chairs from a movie prop house, a zinc topped Belgian kitchen prep table that serves as a place for younger patients to play while they wait. The warm hues of millwork from reclaimed wood from a paddock in Kentucky and the natural light that saturates this space give a sense of comfort and calmness that encourage patients to relax.

The eclectic aesthetic and visual interest as well as the state of the art dental equipment makes Dr. O’Neal’s office one of a kind. Deborah’s experience curating elements for her two stores, The Red Herring and Details, made her the perfect partner for this project. “She made my office special,” says Dr. O’Neal, “something that can’t be replicated.” Come visit the office for your next dental appointment and be sure to ask for a tour!

Each year as the Holidays begin to approach, if you are like me, you begin to make lists. There are menus to

plan, events to attend, family traditions and much more. Careful planning goes into the family Holiday card. How will you present your family to your extended family and friends? You start to think about what you will wear to capture this year that you have finished as well as the one you are about to embark on.

Time and time again I hear from clients that they aren’t really into fashion. They would simply like to be comfortable. Both statements are equally true. Fashion does not mean that you are uncomfortable. You should reflect who you truly are and be proud of that. But to say that you are “not into fashion” is a statement that we should explore further. Many of us within the fashion industry, myself included, believe that a great design, a great garment is a true piece of art and it is artwork we are choosing to live our lives in. Each day a lasting memory is being created, with loved ones, milestones in our lives. Oscar Wilde, from The Picture of Dorian Gray said “Fashion, by which what is really fantastic become for a moment universal.” Think back to past memories and I bet many of the memories that will come to mind will include the silly Holiday sweaters and other styles that have emerged over the years. As you flip through past photographs, what usually causes the most conversation is the past hairstyles and clothes. This in itself shows how large of a roll that fashion and style have played in your lives.

Now that the determination that we DO care about fashion and style and whether or not you consider yourself a fashionable person, we are all forever

linked to fashion. Let’s focus on your personal style and your unique approach to the Holidays this year. As you make your lists for the season, carefully consider the events you have planned and the attire that is expected at each function. Consider your look from all angles. Invest in a great dress, dramatic earrings, and the perfect underpinnings. The ultimate wardrobe is so much more than just the sum of its parts. Build on a great staple, like the LBD, little black dress for women, but don’t be afraid to shake things up a bit with your colors. For a bolder look, try a sheik plum or red dress. For Men a great fitting suit, tailored to fit your frame is always a stylish option. From this point you have the foundation to build around these items and can alter your look with each event, with minimal effort but maximum style. By changing your accessories and hair style your memories captured that evening will be as unique as you are. For men, adding a pocked scarf, or a change of shirt and tie you can completely alter your look. For a more casual look, forego the tie and add a fitted vest under your jacket and weather permitting you can add a great scarf.

With all of the attention spent to your outward appearance, remember that the Holidays are a time to take care of yourself from all angles. Make sure that you are at your peak ability when the New Year rings in. During the Holiday season the treats, drinks and of course delicious food will tempt us at every corner. It is also documented to emotionally be the most difficult time of the year. From family stress, to financial worries, your body is working over time to stay on top of everything. By taking care of yourself from the inside out, keeping everything in moderation and surrounding yourself with the love and support of family and friends you are certain to look your best on the outside. All the pampering, preparation and effort we put into planning the events and memories we will make will be futile if your spirit and your health take a hit during this busy time. While there will be many options in the fashion world to choose from, you are only given one body. Take care of yourself and have a healthy and stylish Holiday season.

Dry, brittle hair?Months of sun, surf, and pool. Your locks have taken the brunt and it’s time to give them something back. As the summer winds down, it’s time to regain control of your precious hair and transform it back into sexy-shiny hair. Where do you start?SStart with a demineralizing treatment, this removes unwanted chemical, heavy metalrresidues, and build up. Think of all the times your hair was in the pool or ocean soaking up chemicals and pollutants this summer! There are many in-salons options and treatments available or you can try using a small amount of baking soda added to your shampoo at home. Follow with a deep conditioning treatment, or nourishing hair mask to moisturize and soften your hair. Look for products containing glycerin, shea butter, and keratin protein --- apply midstrand to ends weekly. Also, try adding coconut oil to your beauty routine, a dab on the ends once or twice a week will help maintain a good balance of moisture.   What’s next?Trim your ends! Removing dead and broken ends is imperative. It allows hair to growwithout the splits creeping up, making it unmanageable and prone to breakage and frizz. Regular trims help hair to be more manageable, beautiful and aid proper growth. Too hot?AAvoid excessive heat styling. When you must, apply a heat protector. This will seal the cuticle and add shine. Follow with your favorite styling technique and you will be well on your way to beautiful, healthy hair.

Metabolism is defined as “the speed at which your body converts food into fuel and burns it”. There is no more important factor in gaining or losing weight. Since it greatly affects the speed at which we gain or lose weight, let us examine how we can enhance our metabolism strictly by what and how often we eat and drink. This is something we can all pay attention to during the last months of the year.

I often relate our metabolism to charcoal grilling. Since we need food for fuel, it’s very similar to needing charcoal to start grilling. Now, if we put a lot of charcoal in our grill, top it with a

lot of lighter fluid and light it we will produce a very large fire. Anyone who has ever charcoal grilled knows that this is not advantageous unless you want your food tasting like lighter fluid. Instead we need a moderate amount of charcoal and a moderate amount of fluid so, after the flames die down, we can make some delicious food.

Our metabolism works the same way. Instead of gorging ourselves with extreme amounts of food in a single sitting, we

need to keep our portions under control so our metabolism doesn’t spike and can work steadily.

When we looking at your portion sizing, you only need to have hands to measure the

appropriate portions. Since the majority of us have these, measuring should

Chances are, that this is not the time of the year that you will decide to increase your workout regimen. However, you can take measures to ensure that you

don’t receive a new gut before the end of the year! Now, as a personal trainer, I’m very aware of the positive effect that exercise can have on your metabolism and certainly encourage you to increase this if at all possible. However, it’s been said that more than 75% of the way we look is based on how we fuel our bodies. Let’s discuss some nutrition tips that can help you to make it to 2014 without feeling the effects of the end of 2013!

NUTRITION DURING THE HOLIDAYS THAT’S EASY TO DIGEST

Page 33: ELITE TAMPA BAY DECEMBER

December 2013 Elite Tampa Bay 33

be easy. A portion of carbohydrates should be about the size of your fist, a portion of protein about the size of your palm, and a portion of vegetables about the size of your outstretched hand. It’s just that simple. However, you may be thinking, this doesn’t seem like very big portions and I’m going to be hungry! Let’s go back to my example of the grill.

If we want to grill out all day long, we will need constant fuel to make that happen otherwise the fire would burn out. Again, the same holds true with our metabolism. Rather than spiking our metabolism with big meals and than letting it go down to nothing as we take long breaks between meals, we need to fuel our bodies more often. Using the correct portion sizes, you should eat about every 2 hours or so, to keep your metabolism steadily working throughout the day. This will keep the fire lit, so to speak, and optimize how your body burns it fuel throughout the day.

Finally, I wanted to share with you, 5 foods that may be able to assist your body in enhancing your metabolic efficiency.

1. GROUND OR CRUSHED RED PEPPER: Capsaicin, or the heat, that is found in hot peppers have been show to speed up metabolism. I put the above peppers

because they can be added to most other foods. However, any pepper with heat will work.

2. OATMEAL: Besides being a whole grain oat that is very rich in fiber, it helps reduce the cholesterol in your bloodstream. Remember, the best benefits are with plain oatmeal, not the artificially sweetened stuff.

3. BLACK COFFEE: The caffeine in here will enhance metabolism while coffee itself has diuretic properties. This needs to be in

moderation and the less you add to it, the better.

4. BLUEBERRIES: These are very rich in antioxidants and a nice sweet snack that would be a great substitute for the cakes and cookies that are in abundance during the holidays.

What do you need in a vacation? Comfort without fuss? Warmth mixed with refreshing trade winds? Natural beauty? Excellence in service performed at a relaxed pace with a certain charm? Then make some time for the Turks & Caicos Islands, where your pulse rate is sure to slow down.

Turks and Caicos is actually made up of over 40 islands and cays east south east of the Bahamas, spanning a distance of less than 100 miles from east to west and even fewer north to south. Just eight are inhabited, each reflecting distinct natural beauty, history and culture. Most visitors spend their time on Providenciales, the perfect place to unwind, but trips to the outer islands are highly recommended if you are looking to get a better impression of this small lively nation. Scheduled air flights and well organized excursions are readily available.

Providenciales’ Grace Bay Beach consistently receives accolades as the world’s best beach. It was named after Grace Hutchings, an early visitor in 1892, in honor of her beauty, style and of course grace. This pristine 12 mile beach seems to have that perfect combination of fine white powder sand, expansive vistas, constant breezes and yet no crowds. The sea colors will stay with you forever; shades of Tiffany blue, turquoise, cobalt and more; and the sunsets are not to be missed. Many of the country’s most luxurious resorts are here, making for easy movement between one world class refreshment experience to another. Of course there’s nothing like becoming a ‘local’ in your own luxury resort, and one that has received the World Travel Award for the Caribbean’s Leading Boutique Hotel from 2005 to 2010 is Point Grace, Luxury Resort & Spa. The resort is appropriately named as it sits on the ‘point’ half way along Grace Bay Beach where with it’s expanse of white sand and untamed beauty you feel like you are on your own desert island. The resort’s magnificent suites, restaurants and spa are all inspired by classic turn-of-the-century British Colonial architecture creating a West Indian setting untouched by time.

The islands are a divers feast with close to shore wall drops of up to 8,000 feet. Humpback whales pass by during Spring whaling season. Nature can be found in many forms from turtles to osprey eagles. Fitness lovers will find quality gyms, classes and water-sports with expert tuition. Kite-boarding, triathlons, 5/10K runs, sea-swims are all pursuits to join in. Tennis, golf and horse-back riding are all catered for, again with experts on hand. Fishing from bone fishing to deep sea fishing is world class. There is plenty to do if you are looking to be active.

World class chefs seek to impress you with their signature dishes creating a cosmopolitan fare, but C a r i b b e a n and native-style dishes abound with the fresh catch of the day and the country’s own Conch. Dining is everything from a simple to luxurious experience. You’ll find a huge selection of wines and drinks on offer too. Point Grace’s elegant gourmet restaurant, Grace’s Cottage, has specialized in pairing fine wines with inspired cuisine for many years now. Come, take time to enjoy cuisine at it’s best, in the best possible settings.

Your body and soul have already entered a new dimension, where you feel energized but utterly peaceful. The Point Grace Thalasso Spa is all you need to further the restoration process. Treatments are European in style; Thalassotherapy using the islands natural resources and Thalgo products. The setting is truly West Indian; white washed exquisite cottages just set back from the natural beach dunes with inspiring sea views and breezes.

Turks and Caicos is very accessible with many international flights. It’s just over an hour from Miami and two and a half hours from New York amongst many routes. Your first vision of the islands from the plane will be awe inspiring. You’ll finally know you are on vacation. Getting through the soon to be expanded small airport terminal is fine but a discrete courteous fast track VIP Flyers service is available; Turks and Caicos will give you the luxury you desire at every step.

Those that live in the islands keep their history and culture close to their hearts, but they also move with the times and going-green, ecotourism and government-reform are all hot topics. There is certainly a pride in the islands that we do things our way, we don’t just follow others, and that gives the islands a spirit all to their own. If you chose to visit Turks and Caicos you’d very likely become one of our many return visitors, so we hope to see you very soon.

Under the new PIP law you must seek medical treatment within 14 days or you lose all your no fault benefits. Don’t count on getting that information from your adjuster. Then the real fun begins when you get to negotiate with the adjuster for the at fault party’s carrier. It doesn’t take long to realize that you need an expert to help you navigate your way through the claims process. Dealing with the property damage is tough enough, but the real challenge still awaits you. That is when you attempt to extract a settlement for your injuries. Your recovery should include all of your out of pocket losses such as deductibles and copays; as well as the medical costs that exceed your own coverage limits. Your past and future pain and suffering is typically the largest part of your damages claim. This is the arena where your inexperience is completely exposed. Most people who attempt to represent themselves may take it to this level but soon realize they are outgunned. They conclude they must seek legal counsel, but have no idea who to call.

There is no single industry as overly populated as the personal injury attorney network. They appear to be everywhere, television, radio, billboards, magazines, bus benches, yes pretty much everywhere. I have always believed that the best way to pick a professional to help you with any issue is to discuss your needs with friends and family. Find out if they have had a similar occurrence and what law firm they used. Were they satisfied with the service and the settlement? Would they recommend that firm to you? Armed with the referral you should then do your own independent research. How long has the firm been in practice, do they specialize in personal injury cases, what rating does that firm have in the industry? Those are answers you should secure prior to making the first call.

Your other alternative is to find an attorney from some form of advertisement. This is the real briar patch. Do you call an 800 number that promises to get you to a great lawyer that will help you? Did you know that there is no special requirement or certification for a lawyer to belong to an attorney referral service other than having malpractice insurance and being in good standing with the Florida Bar? A fee is typically paid to join the referral service and when that attorney’s name is drawn from the hopper they get your case. You could just as easily close your eyes and rip a page out of the phone book.

Then we have the billboards and television commercials. Don’t you just love those? These guys proclaim themselves as aggressive, tenacious, relentless etc… There are so many aggressive law firms how can you possibly single one out? Here is a thought. Find out how many times they have actually gone to trial. That should eliminate most of them.

At Gibbs and Parnell we have over 80 years of combined trial experience. We have an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell legal directory for competence and ethics. This is the highest rating attainable. We do advertise but that has become a business necessity. The primary focus that sets us apart from other personal injury law firms is that we truly try to make a difference in people’s lives. While most cases settle without litigation, the insurance company must know that you will take them to trial if they are not reasonable to your client. It doesn’t always take aggression; it takes competence, patience and commitment. That is what we offer at Gibbs and Parnell, that is our difference.

PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS: ADVOCATES OR SALESMEN?So you or a loved one is in an automobile accident. This has never happened to

you, so you have no experience handling an insurance claim. It can be confusing and frustrating for even the most savvy layperson. It certainly doesn’t help matters when the adjuster assigned to your claim is surly and condescending. That is com-mon when dealing with your own insurance company.

Charitable donations are an excellent way to reduce your tax burden for the year, all while doing something for the greater good. But as with everything in tax law, there are procedures and rules that need to be followed. Here are 12 tips for making sure that you get the best bang for your holiday bucks:

1. You must itemize in order to claim a charitable deduction. You report itemized deductions on Schedule A on your federal form 1040 using lines 16-19:

2. Only donations to qualified charitable organizations are deductible. If you’re not sure whether an organization is qualified, ask to see their letter from the IRS (many organizations

will actually post their letters on their web site). If that isn’t possible, you can search directly online using IRS Publication 78. Also remember that churches, synagogues, temples and mosques are considered de facto charitable organizations and are eligible to receive deductible donations even if they’re not on the list (some exceptions apply so be sure and ask if you’re not sure). I would also suggest that you check out a potential charitable organization before you make a donation: Charity Navigator is a great site to gather information.

3. Cash deductions, regardless of the amount, must be substantiated by a bank record(such as a canceled check or credit card receipt, clearly annotated with the name of the

charity) or in writing from the organization. The writing must include the date, the amount and the organization that received the donation.

4. Cash deductions that are not substantiated, such as cash donations without receipts, or donations made to an individual rather that a qualified charitable organization will be disallowed. That includes paying for someone else’s Christmas presents or lending a helping hand to someone in need. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do these random acts of kindness – in fact, I would argue just the opposite – but it does mean that you can’t claim the deduction on your tax return.

5. If you have money taken out of your paycheck for charity, be sure to keep a pay stub, a form W-2 or other document furnished by your employer showing the total amount withheld for charity, along with the pledge card showing the name of the charity.

6. For 2013 an IRA owner who has reached the age of 70½ or older can make a direct transfer of up to $100,000 per year to an eligible charity, tax free. This means that amounts directly transferred to the charity from an IRA are counted in determining whether the owner has met the IRA’s required minimum distribution (RMB) but will not be considered a taxable withdrawal. Nice, right? Some restrictions apply including the fact that distributions from employer-sponsored retirement plans, including SIMPLE IRAs and simplified employee pension (SEP) plans, are not eligible.

7. For donations of non-cash items, the rule is that you can generally take a deduction for the fair market value of the items – what the item would sell for in its current condition. Carefully document your donations< including the description and condition of the items.

8. There’s an exception to tip #7: if you make non-cash deductions of clothing and household items, they are only deductible if in good used condition or better. This makes sense, of course, because if your old Levi’s are so bad that you wouldn’t want to wear them, why would you think someone else would want to? However, if the item is valued over $500 but not in “good” condition, you may still take the deduction if you have an appraisal for the item.

9. The rules for the donation of a car, truck, other motor vehicle, boat or airplane are a little different. Rather than use the fair market value of the donation, you are generally limited to the gross proceeds from its sale if the value of the item is more than $500. You will need to get a form 1098-C, or a similar statement, from the charitable organization and attach it to your tax return.

10. If the amount of all of your non-cash contributions is over $500, you must also submit a form 8283 Noncash Charitable Contributions with your tax return.

11. Special rules apply to appreciated goods like stock or jewelry, or hard to value items such as artwork. If you are planning on making these kinds of donations, check with your tax professional for more information.

12. Contributions are deductible in the year made so be sure and get those gifts in by December 31. And yes, that means that credit card charges made before the end of the year are deductible even if the credit card bill isn’t paid until the next year. Similarly, checks which are written and mailed by the end of the year will be deductible for this year even if they aren’t cashed until 2014.

As our year and the holiday season draw to a close, I hope that you decide to be charitable. Remember that happy people give more and people that give more are happier.

I’d like to be able to say this was a one-time publicity stunt. I’d like to be able to say this was the first occurrence of lion meat on a menu in America. But I can’t. Just last month, a Japanese restaurant in San Francisco began serving lion skewers to patrons. Both restaurants were immediately bombarded with complaints and concerns from the public; the San Francisco restaurant did the right thing and halted the sale of lion meat. The Tampa restaurant did not.

As one of the country’s most outspoken advocates for big cats, Tampa’s Big Cat Rescue started receiving calls and emails about the Tampa restaurant’s plan to serve lion shortly after the owner began boasting about it on Facebook. Disgusted animal lovers could not believe serving lion is legal, and certainly found it unethical. Sadly, it is still legal to serve lion meat because lions are considered “vulnerable” rather than “endangered.” This despite the fact that the number of lions left in the wild is estimated to have dwindled by half in just the past 10 years.

The Tampa restaurant’s owner claimed he purchased the lion meat from a “legitimate source” in California that raises lions in captivity to be slaughtered for their meat. He also claimed the meat is USDA inspected. However, a 2010 investigation by the animal advocacy group Born Free USA found that the USDA does not have a role in regulating the slaughter and sale of lion meat. The investigation also showed that neither the USDA nor FDA say they are aware of where lions slaughtered for meat originate and are, therefore, unable to guarantee how safe the meat is for human consumption.

The safety of consuming a predator such as a lion is a very real issue. Predators eat so many different animals that they often accumulate numerous parasites and diseases. Even the handling of a predator’s carcass by a human can be fatal.

It is also extremely difficult to confirm that restaurants are serving real lion meat, much less from lions raised in captivity. It very well may be wild lion meat. Animal welfare groups warn that the availability of lion meat on menus can cause further peril to both lions and tigers in the wild. Butchering captive lions can be a convenient smokescreen for the illegal poaching of wild lions. For example, lion bones from Africa are being traded on the black market to China, where they are in high demand as health cures. Lion bones are being used as substitutes for tiger bones in tiger-bone soup, the “chicken soup” of Chinese medicine, and in tiger-bone wine.

The good news is that there IS a way you can help stop this cruelty and abuse. The Big Cats & Public Safety Federal Protection Act was re-introduced in May in the House. This crucially important bill will effectively ban the private ownership and breeding of big cats with just a few exceptions, such as at AZA-accredited zoos and GFAS-accredited wildlife sanctuaries. Once the bill passes in Congress, it will be illegal to raise lions for slaughter and human consumption as well as illegal for the public to handle big cat cubs. For more information about this bill and to urge your Federal representatives to co-sponsor the bill, visit www.BigCatBan.com.

Beautifully positioned on a two-mile stretch of talcum-powder beach - considered by many as the finest in the Caribbean - The Meridian Club is an environmentally-sensitive private island re-sort ideally suited for those seeking an unspoiled, upscale but unpretentious retreat. With no automobiles, televisions, radios or telephones, guests unwind and enjoy the island’s natural beau-ty. Soothing trade winds ensure comfortable temperatures and low humidity while surrounding waters teem with marine life. Underwater visibility often exceeds 100 feet and there are miles of coral gardens within a five minute boat ride. Ashore, Pine Cay remains a pristine natural haven with vast open space and seven freshwater ponds, a perfect habitat for the abundant local fauna and flora. Aside from the obvious – bask in the sun on a deserted beach – guests can enjoy a variety of activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, playing basketball or tennis, and the most popular … taking golf carts out to explore the island.

Culinary AdventuresMornings begin with freshly brewed coffee, fresh-baked pastries and breakfast on a private screened porch, with the option to join other guests at outdoor tables on the pool terrace. In the af-ternoon visitors have the option of a tasty buffet lunch, often off the grill, or a more adventurous picnic lunch (prepared upon re-quest.) The club offers only the freshest seafood - locally caught ocean fish, lobster and conch prepared in various styles. There are other options, such as steak, chops, rack of lamb, duck and Cornish hen, and the award-winning chef prepares vegetarian meals upon request. With an new pastry chef this season, the club is excited to continue the tradition of fine desserts, beauti-fully presented with coffee or cordials.

Spa OfferingsThe Sand Dollar Spa, staffed by a Balinese masseuse, offers spe-cialty spa techniques, including massage, hot stone treatment, manicures, pedicures, and facials. Balinese massage is a high-ly evolved, distinctive form employing a combination of gentle stretches, deep tissue kneading, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and “qi” (energy) around your body, bringing relaxation and a sense of wellness. An ancient technique, related to the Ayurveda, the Indian holis-tic medical system, this type of massage is known to help with a wide range of ailments, including migraine, muscle and joint pain, sleep disorder, anxiety and depression, as well as allergies and breathing problems such as asthma which often are wors-ened by stress. The use of oils is calming and sensual and leaves guests feeling tranquil and serene.

FishingWith great fishing only 20 minutes off shore and a boat ride that in itself is an memorable excursion, many who visit Pine Cay come for the fishing or include fishing in their visit to the island. From deep sea fishing to fishing in the flats, there is always some-thing interesting for any level fisherman. Some take their catch back to our chef and have it prepared for the next meal, while others enjoy “catch and release” for the sport of it. Whatever your pleasure, if you plan to fish during your Caribbean vacation, many say Pine Cay is the best option.
