Foundation Minute for Week of February 29 Rotarians are improving the lives of individuals in communities around the world everyday through thousands of service projects: In India - a community grant provided dental checkups for a local school. In Colombia – a grant helped enhance learning and performance in children with learning disturb-ances. In Ghana - a club distributed mosquito netting And in Israel - a grant helped build a music room inside the Latin Patriarchate School in Jordon. In the words of Arch Klumph– Founder of the Rotary Foundation: “WE SHOULD NOT LIVE FOR OURSELVES ALONE, BUT FOR THE JOY IN DOING GOOD FOR OTHERS." Your contribution to the Rotary Foundation helped make this happen. Thank you.

LAST MEETING – February 26, 2016 – Dee Bruemmer; Scott Co. Administrator Dee Bruemmer thanked John Maxwell for being on the board that helped hire her for the Scott County Administrator job in 2008. Dee will be retiring soon, after 35 years with the City of Davenport and Scott County. She is in the process of preparing her last budget for 2017 and is still looking for ways to lower costs. In 2009 the county lost one million dollars in interest income. The gaming receipts were half of what they were the previous years. Things were interesting her first year as the Scott County Ad-ministrator. Since then, the financial software and the phone systems have been replaced. They will not need so much maintenance and will be effective for years to come. A new brick building has re-cently been built at 5th and Ripley to store paper records and excess office items. Alex Dirck received her blue badge on Friday. Pat Olsen reported that 75 Rotarians and 50 guests attended the all area Rotary function on February 25 at St. Ambrose. Sixty eight attended on Friday. The only guest was Brian Goerdt, guest of Mike Thavenet. Ryan Varner was the sergeant and collected $61 in fines.
The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO
1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
