PROJECTThe main aim of this project is building bridges whichfacilitate intercultural & inter-ethnic solidarity,promoting understanding and humanity, peace buildingand tolerance between young people from NorthMacedonia and other countries. The arts enable youngpeople to connect universally, with common humanity. This project focuses on promoting active citizenship,environmental sustainability by organizing food banksfor preventing of food waste and helping people inneed. The project will take place in Bitola, NorthMacedonia that people waste a lot of food.

ORGANIZATIONECD COOPERATION is an association for cultural andeconomical promotion founded by a group of youngpeople from Bitola. Our association started frominitiative of young people from Macedonia formed in2001 like a informal group and in July 2002 it wasregistered as a NGO. The goal of ECD COOPERATIONassociation is to promote through non-formal educationa cultural and economical development for thebenefit of the public, the preservation,conservation,respect and the protection of theenvironment and the prudent use of resources,encouraging self employment and culture of theterritory of belonging in the specialties to it in all formsand manifestations, in the Macedonian territory andinternationally. ECD COOPERATION promotesinternational mobility projects, in order to study andwork abroad, with the aim of enhancing the professionaland linguistic skills and promoting greater integrationinto the global job market.

Bitola is with over 100 000 people, the second largestcity of Macedonia. It is a university city with severalfaculties and has great student population. The riverDragor streams right in the middle of the town and thedivides the old Turkish town from the 18th centurytown. The latter managed to maintain its beautiful 18th-and 19th-century architecture. In the other part of townyou will find nice Ottoman architecture in the form ofmosques, covered markets and bath houses. Themainstreet of Bitola hosts a lot of opportunities to goout at night, to eat the local food and to watch thelocalsdoing their daily activities. In summer there are a lot ofcultural festivals which host music and art. Above all, themulticultural city shows you a taste of orthodox,Muslim and roma tradition. Thirty minutes’ walk southlyis the impressive site of the ancient city of HeracleaLyncestis. It was established in the 4th century BC, andhas an excavated amphitheatre, baths, basilicasandsome impressive mosaics.

VENUE

Bitola is in the south of Macedonia 170 km from thecapital, and just 15 km from Greek border. Oursuggestion is you to choose the capital Skopje aslanding airport as there is good connection with a busand train to Bitola. There are great flight conenctionsfrom Bratislava. Bus from Skopje to Bitola you havedaily 10 times and train 4 times per day. Bus cost €10returning ticket and train €13 returning ticket. After reaching Bitola we will pick you up from Bus ortrain station (they are in the same building) and bringyou to the Hotel.

TRAVEL

ECD COOPERATION House is located 50 m from themain pedestrian street in the city center. Around thehouse there is market on 50m, bars and restaurant on100m, public transport and other entertainment. Thevolunteers will be accommodated in 2-bed rooms,shared kitchen, living room, toilet and beautiful garden.The house has WIFI, cable TV and fully equippedkitchen.
