From the Chief Editor’s Desk!

It gives us immense pleasure to present the February 2016 issue of

e-Parigyan - the Electronic News Letter of the Lingaya’s University.

This issue consists the details about various activities like internation-

al conferences, workshops, guest lectures, seminars organized in Lin-

gaya’s University Campus by various Schools. In addition to that The

sports carnival and Zeal 2016, annual cultural fest of Lingaya’s Lalita

Devi institute of Managements and technical fest organized by Lin-

gaya’s G.V.K.S were the main events organized in the month of Feb-

ruary 2016

3rd ICSSR sponsored International Conference was held on 26th &

27th February, 2016 on “Making Connections: Social Welfare in the context of English Language &

Literature – A Global Perspective”. More than 125 people attended the conference and 97 delegates

presented their papers on various topics related to the Conference theme.

A seminar on Studying Abroad for Higher Education was organized to motivate the students for high-

er studies. A Workshop on telecom sector and opportunities was organized for the students of Elec-

tronics and Electrical engineering to acquaint them of Changing Trends, Future Opportunities &

Technological Innovations in Telecom services. The School of Management Sciences, Lingaya’s Uni-

versity organized a Guest Lecture on Capital Markets and Mutual Funds. An expert talk on Leadership

for Higher Productivity and Efficiency was also organized by school of Management.

A Tech Fest entitled “Technoshetra” was organized at Lingaya’s GVKS campus. The Tech Fest com-

prised of different events & provided students an exposure to show their talents and skills in their dif-

ferent field. Some of the technical events that the tech fest comprised of included Robo war, Robo

race, Robo Soccer, making working models, circuit design, code writing, code debugging etc.

Zeal was the annual youth festival of LLDIMS, with two awesome days filled with fun, excitement and

performances, which most definitely will make you go “WOW!!”. The fest tohad events ranging from

dance, music, photography, fashion show, corporate games & dramatics etc.

Various social activities were conducted by the Lingaya’s Group of Institutions like free Medical camps

and Eye check up.

International Conference on Making Connections: Social Wel-

fare in the context of English Language & Literature – A

Global Perspective

The Dept. of English organized their 3rd ICSSR sponsored International Conference on

26th & 27th February, 2016 in the University Campus on “Making Connections: Social Wel-

fare in the context of English Language & Literature – A Global Perspective”. 127 people

attended the conference and 97 delegates presented their papers on various topics related

to the Conference theme. The 2-day International Conference was inaugurated by Prof. G.

S. Saun, the Member Secretary, ICSSR, New Delhi.

The Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. K. Chauhan and the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. G. V.

Ramaraju shared their valuable ideas on the Conference theme in the Inaugural session.

Prof. Harish Narang, Rtd. Professor of English, JNU, New Delhi was the Guest of Honor. The

Inaugural session highlighted the role of Language & Literature on making connections.

The Keynote Speaker was Prof. (Dr.) R. Christel Devadawson, Head, Dept. of English, Delhi

University. Prof. Christel highlighted the role of Literature in bringing social welfare focus-

ing on the works of Agatha Christie.

WORKSHOP ON TELECOM SECTOR AND OPPORTUNITIES A workshop was organized by School of EEE ,Lingaya’s University on "TELECOM SECTOR AND OP-

PORTUNITIES" on 3rd February, 2016 at 1100 hrs.

Renowned industry experts, Mr. Nishant Bansal (RF Engineer) & Ms. Anu Malhotra from Mobile

Communication Pvt. Ltd. took two hours session. Mr. Nishant briefed the students about The

Changing Trends, Future Opportunities & Technological Innovations in Telecom services. Experts

discussed about Technology Evolution, Overview, Today’s Scenario , Change in Habits , The Game

Changer– Data, Quality of Service (QoS) Migration , Convergence , Cloud , M2M, Big Data, Tele-

com World , Migration from 1G, 2G 3G , 4G & Future 5G. It was an interactive and valuable ses-

sion leading to new information and knowledge.

Seminar on Studying Abroad for Higher Education

A seminar was conducted by School of EEE on Studying Abroad for Higher Education on

17th February, 2016 in the University Campus. Mr. Harpreet Singh (Head Operations DELHI

NCR & Rajasthan), Jamboree Education Pvt. Ltd., conducted an extremely informative &

useful session regarding the opportunities of studying abroad for higher education In the

session, information was provided on the following points:

Guest Lecture on Capital Markets and Mutual Funds

The School of Management Sciences, Lingaya’s University organized a Guest Lecture on

Capital Markets and Mutual Funds on February 15, 2016 by Dr. Mukul Jain, Trainer, Stock

and Exchange Board of India [SEBI]. The seminar benefitted students with the knowledge

of various instruments of stock exchange. The lecture also emphasized on the need for

saving and different investment opportunities available. There was also another session for

MBA students by Dr. Mukul Jain that talked about the derivatives and derivative market.

The session was a rich learning and enriching experience for MBA students.

Expert Talk on “Leadership for higher productivity and efficiency”

The School of Management Sciences, Lingaya’s University organized an expert talk on 9 February,

2016 on the topic "Leadership for Higher Productivity and Efficiency" by Prof. L. N. Mittal. The talk

provided deep insights and exposure to students about the basic qualities possessed by a manag-

er and effective leadership styles that yield better performance and productivity.

Guest Lecture on Current Status in Organic Electronics

On 25 February, 2016 Department of Physics, Lingaya’s University, Faridabad organized a Guest

Lecture by Prof. P. K. Bhatnagar (BSR Fellow, UGC, New Delhi), Emeritus Professor, Department of

Electronics Sciences, South Campus University of Delhi on the topic titled “Current Status in Or-

ganic Electronics”. The lecture was very interactive in nature. It was indeed a good experience for

the students to get knowledge and information on current research works in the field of Organic

electronics, especially Organic Solar Cells & about the future research needed in the field of Solar

Cells. A discussion was also held on the Carbon based materials such as Fullerene and CNT’s

(Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes and Multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes) and about synthesis of

different types of LED’s by Sol-Gel techniques. One of B. Sc.(H)-Physics student Mr. Sawan Singh

was awarded a cash prize during the technical discussions.

Short talk on "Designing Secure Building"

A short talk on "Designing of secure buildings" was held in the School of Civil Engineering and

Technology on 1st February, 2016 in which students and faculty from civil Engineering Department

took active part. The talk was organized by "Indianeye Security Pvt Ltd(ISL)" and subject expert In-

dian Navy Commander Kartik Vig (retd.) introduced with different safety structures used for de-

signing safe and secured civilian and military structures. Different risk analysis methods were stat-

ed briefly in the talk. Commander also stated the effect of blast loads on the structures and related

research areas.

Seminar on "New Era Design Technologies"

Seminar by Trainer from CADD Centre, Faridabad on “New Era Design Techniques” was organized

in the School of Civil Engineering and Technology on 18th February, 2016 which was attended by

students and faculty from Civil Engineering. Different topics discussed in the seminar were as fol-

lows

Total station and other aspects of surveying,

Time saving using software’s such as AutoCAD in drawing,

An introduction to STAAD Pro and its importance in design..

National Design Competition

The B.Tech 3rd year students of School of Civil Engineering and Technology have participated on

first round of National Design Competition by CADD CENTRE. The competition was held at Linga

ya's University and conducted by CADD Centre, NIT Faridabad on 25th February, 2016.

A short talk on "Designing of secure buildings" was held in the School of Civil Engineering

and Technology on 1st February, 2016 in which students and faculty from civil Engineering

Department took active part. The talk was organized by "Indianeye Security Pvt Ltd.(ISL)"

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The day was pre celebrated on 26th

Feb 2016 in order to give tribute to the contribution and

landmarks in science. National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28th February each year

to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian Physicist, Sir Chandrasekhar Venkata

Raman. For his discovery, Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. A talk was

delivered by Priyanka Sagar and followed by a video presentation on Raman’s contribution

presented by Neeraj Priya, student of education department. A brainstorming quiz was or-

ganized by faculty and students of education department Divya Sinha and Mrs. Swati

Naithani ,faculty of B.Ed. department, shared her view and emphasized on present educa-

tional contribution in the field of science.

Social Service

Free Eye-Checkup Camp

Eyes let us see the beauty of world, it is important to take good care of it. As a health initi-

ative, the School of Management Sciences, Lingaya’s University organized a free eye

checkup camp in the campus in collaboration with Lenskart on February 16, 2016. The

camp received an overwhelming response from the students, faculty and staff of the Uni-

versity.

Examination Department

EXAMINATION DEPARTMENT

Examination department successfully conducted Mid Semester –I examination from 29

Feb to 09 March- 2016. For smooth conduction of examination, many teams were consti-

tuted: Center Superintendent – Dr. Ajeet Singh, Deputy Superintendents, Flying Squads,

Discipline Committee and so on.

Total number of students that appeared for the mid Term –I Examination was 1231 & to-

tal number of subject question papers was 237. Examination was scheduled in the after-

noon session and revision classes were conducted during the morning hours in the re-

spective departments.

Results of the End Semester examination December -2015 are declared & printing of

grade card is under progress.

ERP Implementation at Lingaya’s University

Ever since its implementation in the month of October 2015, Lingaya’s ERP system is un-

dergoing continuous up gradation. Latest features are being added to make it more user

-friendly.

New technology absorption and process implementation can never succeed without hu-

man support. The smooth ERP implementation at the university is the result of employee

participation in testing and customization. Despite busy schedules, all the employees are

making full use of the system. Employees’ feedback is being integrated in the form of new

features.

To facilitate the employees and students, a full-fledged ERP Department and Training Cell

has been created. The ERP Training Cell is equipped with state-of-the-art resources and

infrastructure. Now, the employees and students can seek training on individual concerns

at their convenient time. Very soon the students will be provided with remote access

through their individual IDs. After this, students will be able to retrieve their individual

notice board containing information on assignments, class notes, attendance and results.

More milestones are yet to be achieved in ERP.

Technokshetra 2016

At Lingaya’s GVKSIMT Technoshetra was organized at Lingaya’s GVKS campus on 26-02-

2016 and inaugurated by Dr R. K Chauhan, VC (Lingaya’s University). The Tech Fest com-

prised of different events & provided students an exposure to show their talents and skills

in their different fields with minimum expenditure. Some of the technical events that the

tech fest comprised of included Robo war, Robo race , Robo Soccer ,working model, pro-

ject making, circuit design, code writing, code debugging etc,. Besides these, some non-

technical events like debate, crazy mind which comprised of many fun filled games, group

discussion, paper presentation, nonworking project etc. were also conducted to engage

students. Various colleges actively participated in this and made it a huge success. Colleg-

es like Satyug Darshan, Rawal, Aravali and many more participated in different activities,

and made their respective colleges proud by bagging prizes in events like debate, group

discussion etc. The efforts and initiative taken by the Institute to hold such events like

Technical Fest was appreciated and valued.

The dignitaries, Dr. R. K. Chauhan ,(V.C Lingaya’s University), Dr. .G V. Ramaraju ( Pro V.C

Lingaya’s University), Ms Nabonita Ghosh (Principal LPS) along with Dr. AK De Bhowmick

(Director Lingaya’s GVKS) witnessed different activities like robotics. They motivated the

students with their presence and appreciated the efforts put up by the students.

Technokshetra 2016

The event was a learning experience for students and faculty. Various projects were de-

velop and demonstrated by the students of various colleges. There were different com-

mittees like Organizing committee which was managed by Mr. Suman Kumar Jha, (HOD

CSE), sponsorship by Mr. Alok Aggarwal (HOD,ECE), Dr. Piyush Vishwakarma (H.O.D, Hu-

manities), Mr. B.B Malhotra (H.O.D, ME), Invitation and Registration by Mr. Vinod Chauhan

and Ms Anshu, Fine Arts by Ms Vandita Singh, Web Development by Ms. Mandeep Kau-

rand and Certificate committee by Mr. Radha Krishnan.

The certificates and prizes were distributed by Dr. A.K D. Bhowmick (Director, Lingaya’s

GVKS IMT) to the winners of different activities. Hence it was a fun filled innovative learn-

ing exposure for all the students encouraging them to participate in similar competitions

at IIT and making LGVKS proud by winning medals.

Sports Carnival

Inter School tournaments of Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Table

Tennis were organized during month of February, 2016. The students of the university

were grouped in 8 Schools and one team of each school was allowed to participate in

each of the tournaments. The tournaments of Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton

and Table Tennis were completed in month of February in three phases.

The Inter-School Football and Volleyball tournaments were organized in first phase from

FEB 8 to FEB 16, 2016. Dr. R.K. Chauhan, Hon’ble Vice chancellor of Lingaya’s University

inaugurated the tournaments.

School of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering won the FootballTournament by

defeating School of Computer Engineering(4-3) in the Finals.

School of Electronics & Electrical Engineering won the Tournament by defeating

School of School of Basic sciences in the Finals.

Sports Carnival

The Inter-School Basketball and Badminton tournaments were organized in second phase

from FEB 17 to FEB 24, 2016.

School of Electronics & Electrical Engineering won the Tournament by defeating

School of School of. Mechanical and Automobile Engineering (36-33) in the Finals.

School of Electronics & Electrical Engineering won the Tournament by defeating

School of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering (3-2) in the Finals.

The Inter-School Table Tennis tournament was organized in third phase from FEB 19 to

FEB 25, 2016.

School of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering won the Tournament by defeating

School of Basic Sciences (5-0) in the Finals.

ZEAL-2K16

Zeal is the annual youth festival of LLDIMS, with two awesome days filled with fun, excite-

ment and performances, which most definitely will make you go “WOW!!”. The fest is

scheduled to have events ranging from dance, music, photography, fashion show, corpo-

rate games & dramatics etc. Several colleges from NCR participate in the fest to add value

to it and make it more vibrant.

Zeal is based on four main pillars, which form an integral part of our ideology as a festival

and shapes to reflect our vision:

Audience: To provide two awesome days of entertainment to the audience.

Participants: To create true value for our participants to showcase their talents.

Organizing Team: To provide real-time management exercise to implement their man-

agerial skill.

Sponsors: To give them a platform to build their brand value with the young world.

As vibrant as the city of Delhi, Zeal too is vibrant, where highly energetic students toil to

win appreciation for their talent. It is the most effective way of bringing youth under the

same platform, enhancing social interaction and facilitating exchange of cultural ideas and

thoughts. Zeal is ‘only students’ zone. Hard working and enthusiastic students from all

participating colleges, collaborate with their faculty members in their efforts to give the

best in the Fest.

Research Paper

Ms. Simran Kaur , Faculty from School of Computer Published a paper on CLUSTER-

ING BASED DOCUMENT SUMMARIZATION in international trends of emerging

trends in computer science and technology , vol5,issue1, issn:2278-6856, January-

February 2016.

She has also published one paper on E-health solutions in internet of things in na-

tional conference on make in India RSTTMI 2016.
