It gives us immense pleasure to announce the 4th

issue of e-

Parigyan - the Electronic News Letter of the Lingaya’s University.

January issue consists the details about various activities like

workshop, guest lecture, seminars & Spiritual festival organized in

Lingaya’s University Campus by various Schools.

A seminar on Studying abroad for Higher Education was orga-

nized to motivate the students for higher study. A Workshop on

VLSI design was organized for the students of Electronics and

Electrical engineering to acquaint them of VHSIC Hardware De-

scription Language (VHDL) & Verilog software. The guest lecture by Prof. RK Sharma of IIT Delhi

on “Treasure Hunt” familiarized the students about the concepts of Number theory and Algebra

in Cryptography.

A national conference was organized on Strategies to overcome academic anxiety including

through psychological counseling for the principals and senior teachers of various schools and

colleges in Delhi / NCR region on 29th January 2016.

Many students activities were organized in January 2016 like Board making completion, Poem

recitation competition, “best out of waste” etc. and I congratulate the winners of various events.

Training and Placement department arranged company’s visits in the Lingaya’s University for

Campus Drive and 25 students from various disciplines were selected

I hope that the readers will enjoy reading this issue of e-Parigyan and I again request the read-

Workshop on VLSI

A School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (SOEEE) organized a workshop on Very

large scale integration (VLSI) in association with Sofcon Pvt. Ltd. NOIDA, on 28th

Jan 16.

Mr. Raman expert from Sofcon Pvt. Ltd discussed about the scope of VLSI in Electronics in-

dustry and further explained about the different software’s used in VLSI. Students have

learned about the programming of VHSIC Hardware Description Language

(VHDL) & Verilog software.

Seminar on STUDYING ABROAD FOR HIGHER EDUCATION.

A seminar was conducted by School of EEE on Studying abroad for Higher Education on

17th

Feb 2016. Mr. Harpreet Singh (Head Operations Delhi NCR & Rajasthan), Jamboree

Education Pvt. Ltd., has taken a very informative & useful session regarding studying

abroad for higher education and also conveyed information about following:

School of Mechanical Engineering organized a Seminar on 18th

February, 2016 in associa-

tion with CADD Centre, Faridabad. The seminar covered the following topics:

Seminar and Live Demo by Senior Trainer from CADD Centre, Chennai on “3D Printing”

was organized in the Mechanical Engineering department on 20th

January, 2016 in which

students and faculty from mechanical and civil engineering both took active part.

“Green chemistry” at University of Delhi

Sixteen students of First and Second year from B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry along with two fac-

ulty members Dr. Neha Bhardwaj and Ms. Meenakshi Thakur attended one day workshop

on “Green Chemistry” in ARSD college, University of Delhi. Various eminent experts from

the field of green chemistry gave talks in the Seminar. These included a talk on “Green

Chemistry” by Prof. R. K. Sharma, Professor, Department of Chemistry, university of Delhi,

a talk by Prof. S. K. Mehta, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Punjab University on

“Nanotechnology, a talk by . Prof. R. K. Mahajan about crown ethers and their utility in dai-

ly life. There were also talks on various other topics. In the session of experiments, “Green

Reactions” were demonstrated which enhanced the practical knowledge of the students.

The students and the faculty members have been awarded with the certificate of participa-

tion.

National Conference on Strategies to overcome academic anx-

iety including through psychological counseling

Lingaya’s University organized a National Conference on Strategies to overcome academic

anxiety including through psychological counseling for the principals and senior teachers of

various schools and colleges in Delhi / NCR region on 29th

January 2016. The conference was

attended by more than 100 delegates and a fruitful discussion was done on academic anxiety

by the experts and the participants. The chief guest of the conference was Dr. Mohd. Akhtar

Siddiqui, Dean Education department of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi stated that academic

anxiety has become a cause for concern for all the stake holders. Many causes contribute to it

these need to be discussed, identified and then strategies developed to reduce the academic

anxiety. Complex curriculum and heavy loads of restricted movements which sometimes creates

high pressure and anxiety in some students which may in turn affect their academic perfor-

mance. Hence, the knowledge generated by the mutual discussion the national conference

helped the students, teachers, educationists and student counselor particularly in guidance to

reduce the academic anxiety. Key note speaker of the conference Dr. L.N. Mittal retired profes-

sor of NTTTE, Chandigarh and eminent Professor at Lingaya’s University; told how to bridge the

gap from school to college. He also stated what are the difficulties faced at university level and

professional level by the students and how schools can help the students in bridging this gap.

Guest Lecture

Department of Mathematics organized a guest lecture on Treasure Hunt on 27th January

2016. The lecture was delivered by Dr. R. K. Sharma, Professor & former head department

of mathematics IIT Delhi. He briefed the students about the concepts of Number theory by

using story of chachi’s murder. He also explained that how Algebra is used in cryptog-

raphy. He shared real life experiences and told the students about the importance of math-

ematics in real life. It was a learning and interactive session for the students where he an-

swered all the queries put up by the students to their full satisfaction.

BOARD MAKING COMPETITION

The School of Education organized a board making competition on 22nd

January 2016 on the fol-

lowing themes:

DIGITAL INDIA: Digital India is an initiative by the Govt. Of India to ensure that government ser-

vices are made available to citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and by in-

creasing internet connectivity.

MAKE IN INDIA: Make in India is an initiative of the Government of India to encourage multina-

tional as well as domestic companies to manufacture their products in India launched by honour-

able Prime Minister of India.

The Objective of competition was to see the creativity and co-cooperatives among students.

Many students actively participated and the faculty members motivated and guided the stu-

dents during the competition.

Celebration of BASANT PANCHAMI

Basant Panchami, a popular Hindu festival dedicated to goddess Saraswati was celebrated at

Lingaya’s University on 05-02-16 . This was organized by School of Education. The celebration

started with the Pooja of goddess Saraswati and a talk on the day’s significance by students Pri-

yanka Sagar and Shefal. The celebration was attended by all the faculties’ members of B.Ed. de-

partment.

BEST OUT OF WASTE

The School of Education organized a student’s competition on “Best Out of Waste” in January

2016 Student were invited to prepare any object on innovative theme like utilitarian or decorative

object, accessories, a teaching aid etc, with any waste material like paper, ice cream sticks, alumi-

num cans foil papers, rope, plaster of Paris etc, using their inspiration, ideas and creativity, un-

derstanding that waste material is not something found in the garbage or something that is nor-

mally intended to be thrown away.

Ms. PRATIMA was the winner in the competition based on the creativity.

POEM RECITATION COMPETITION

The school of Education organized a competition on Poem Recitation on 29th January 2016. The

winners were selected on the basis of creativity, communication and presentation while recitation

of the poem. List of various participants with title of Poem and their result are given below.

Major Project of B.Sc. (Gen.) Third Year students

Department of Chemistry, Lingaya’s University has collaborated with “Materials Chemistry

Research Lab” under Prof. R. Nagarajan, Department of Chemistry from University of Delhi for the

major project of B.Sc. (Gen) The final Year students Mr. Gunjan Sharma and Ms. Chanchal carry

out their project work in “Materials Chemistry Research Lab “ in University of Delhi every Friday

and Saturday. The topic of the project is “synthesis and characterization of Polycarbonates and

Ploymethyl Siloxanes”. The project is guided by Dr Neha Bhardwaj.

Minor Project of B.Sc. (H) Second Year students

Six students of B.Sc(Hons) second year from Department of Chemistry has done minor projects

under the supervision of Prof. Shagufta Jabin entitled “ Purification of industrial wastewater

through the use of polymers”. One research paper has also been written out of this work. The

research paper has been sent for presentation in the international Conference on “Advanced

Material” in Department of Chemistry, IIT Roorkee in the month of January, 2016. The paper

has been accepted for presentation. Chandan Sahu and Prem Shankar of B.Sc(Hons) Chemistry

will present the research paper in the international conference scheduled from 4th

March,2016 to

7th

March, 2016 in IIT Roorkee.

Students Activities

Seven students of B.Sc. Chem. (Hon) second year carried out their minor project entitled

“Photocatalytic Water Treatment” under the supervision of Prof.. Neha Bhardwaj, Department of

Chemistry. The project was successfully completed and students are under the process of writing

a research paper which will be presented in a suitable conference in the near future. The aim of

involving the students in research projects is to develop a link between teaching and research

and encourage the students to develop an aptitude for research and innovation from graduation

level itself.

These research projects are an attempt to lay the groundwork that will lead to practical experi-

ence and future research for the students.

RPAC

Research Progress and Assessment Committee (RPAC)

The Department of Mathematics Lingaya’s University, Faridabad conducted RPAC

(Research Progress Assessment Committee) meeting on 27th January 2016 .The Agenda of

the meeting was to review the research work done by research scholars in last six

months. Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Sharma, Professor & former head department of mathematics, IIT

Delhi, were the external expert. . Two research scholars Ms. Neha & Ms. Shefali Kapoor

presented their research work under the guidance of Dr. Ajeet Kumar Singh, Head Depart-

ment of Mathematics, Ms. Shefali Kapoor presented her work on “Algebraic coding

theory Applications in digital india: assessment and analysis study ” whereas Ms.

Neha research topic was “On the geometry of zeros of complex polynomial and ana-

lytical functions”.
