Canal de Isabel II Gestin y la Fundacin FernandoAlonso quieren dar a conocer la dimensin de estagran figura del deporte espaol a travs de unaexposicin nica en el mundo.

Por primera vez se renen los coches con los que elpiloto asturiano ha competido, desde aquel primerkart con el que empez todo hasta uno de sus ltimosFerrari. La espectacular muestra de monoplazas secompleta con otros objetos como cascos, monos ybotas.

Tambin tiene un especial protagonismo la coleccinde trofeos, entre los que destacan el obtenido en

su primera carrera en Ribadesella 1984, los delCampeonato del Mundo 2005 y 2006, los dossubcampeonatos mundiales 2010 y 2012, el tercerclasificado en 2007, el premio Prncipe de Asturias2005, la medalla del Comit Olmpico Espaol 2006 oel premio de la Comunidad de Madrid 2011, entre otros.

Una seleccin de ms de 270 piezas que transmite ala perfeccin los momentos clave de una trayectorianica.

Instalaciones interactivas, audiovisuales de granformato y actividades paralelas sirven para ponerde relieve la importancia del mejor piloto espaol

de todos los tiempos, as como de la Frmula 1, unespectculo lleno emocin.

PRESENTATION

Fernando Alonso climbed into his first single-seaterwhen he was just three years old. His father built hima kart and they had to adapt the pedals so that thekid could drive it. Years later the Asturian went on tobecome the first ever Spaniard to win a Grand Prix, thedriver that has notched up more points than anyoneelse in history, and a two-times Formula 1 WorldChampion. A sporting legend whose values of hardwork, humility and passion have helped him win a hostof international admirers both inside and outside thecircuit.

Canal de Isabel II Gestin and the Fundacin FernandoAlonso have decided to organise a unique, world-classexhibition to honour the true dimension of this leadingfigure in Spanish sport.

For the first time ever, all the cars the Asturian driverhas ever raced will be brought together under oneroof, from that first kart that he began with as a child,to one of his latest Ferraris. The spectacular exhibitionof single-seater racing cars is complemented by otherobjects such as helmets, racing suits and boots.

Pride of place will also be given to his collection of

trophies, among which special mention should be madeof the one he earned in his first ever race in Ribadesellain 1984, the 2005 and 2006 World Championships, histwo World sub-championships in 2010 and 2012, histhird-place trophy from 2007, the 2005 Prince of

Asturias Prize, the 2006 Spanish Olympic Committeemedal, and the 2011 Community of Madrid prize, amongothers.

A selection of more than 270 objects that serve tocommunicate quite perfectly the key moments of aunique career.

Interactive installations, large-format audio-visuals and

parallel activities highlight the importance of Spainsbest-ever driver, and also that of Formula 1 itself, aspectacle brimming with excitement.

RECORRIDO EXPOSITIVOLa idea central de la propuesta consiste en la creacinde un potente espacio que, a modo de lnea detiempo, expone los monoplazas de las escuderasMinardi, Renault, McLaren y Ferrari con los que elpiloto asturiano ha competido desde su debut en laFrmula 1. Un eje temporal en el que los coches estnpresentados cronolgicamente partiendo del primerfrmula de promocin utilizado en 1999.

La exposicin se divide en seis mbitos temticos:Km 0, La coleccin, Circuito Alo, Start

your engines!, F1 experiences y 275.000 kmde emocin. La singular arquitectura del Centrode Exposiciones Arte Canal Madrid contribuye arecrear un espacio que sumerge al visitante en unaexperiencia nica y sorprendente.

Los seis mbitos se agrupan en tres grandes reasexpositivas. La primera est formada por la lnea detiempo que dibujan los monoplazas, la zona Km 0 yla gran mesa multimedia. La segunda la integran dosemocionantes audiovisuales que flanquean la sala. Yla tercera cierra el espacio expositivo con diversosmdulos experienciales y una serie de instalacionesparticipativas. El recorrido finaliza con un mosaico de

gran formato integrado por centenares de fotografasenviadas por aficionados del piloto.

La intencin es plasmar todos los elementos quehacen de Fernando Alonso una figura tan admiraday especial para nuestro pas. Un deportista quetransmite valores, que tiene talento, que ha cosechadoun reconocimiento internacional de primer nivel y quepone a disposicin de todos una coleccin de piezasabsolutamente extraordinaria.

EXHIBIT WALKTHROUGHThe central idea behind the proposal was to createa powerful space in which, by way of a timeline, to

show off the single-seaters from the different teams -Minardi, Renault, McLaren and Ferrari, with which the

Asturian driver has competed since he first made hisFormula 1 debut. A walk through time, in which the carsare presented chronologically, starting with the first

promotional Formula car he drove in 1999.

The exhibition is divided into six themed areas: Km 0,The collection, Alo track, Start your engines!,

F1 experiences and 275,000 km of sensation. Theoutstanding architecture of the Centro de Exposiciones

Arte Canal Madrid contributes towards recreating aspace in which the visitor is immersed in a unique andsurprising experience.

The six areas are grouped into three main exhibitionspaces. The first is formed by the timeline laid downby the single-seater racing cars, the Km 0 zone, andthe large multimedia table. The second comprisestwo exciting audiovisuals which flank the room. Andthe third space, which brings the exhibition to an end,features various experiential modules and a seriesof hands-on installations. The tour ends with a giant

mosaic made from hundreds of photographs sent in byfans of the driver.

The intention is to capture all the elements that makeFernando Alonso so admired and such a special figurefor our country. A sportsman who transmits values, whois talented, who has garnered international recognitionat the highest level, and who has made an absolutelyextraordinary collection of artefacts available for all toenjoy.

mbito 1. KM 0La mayora de los pilotos de Frmula 1 tienen sus racesdeportivas en el mundo del karting, y Fernando Alonsono es una excepcin. Su precoz carrera se inici a los tresaos de edad, al volante de un kart construido por supadre y enfundado en un mono cosido por su madre.

El mbito 1 de la exposicin es un espacio dedicado a losprimeros aos de competicin del piloto asturiano. Seexponen monos, cascos y una instalacin con los kartsque le acompaaron en su infancia. Un recorrido desde los

humildes orgenes del deportista hasta su entrada en lasfrmulas de promocin.

Area 1. KM 0

The roots of the majority of Formula 1 racing drivers canbe found in the world of karting, and Fernando Alonso isno exception. His early career began at the age of three,behind the wheel of a kart that his father had built for himand tucked into a racing suit that his mother had made.

Area 1 of the exhibition is a space dedicated to the earlyin which the Asturian driver first began to take part incompetitions. Visitors can see racing suits, helmets and aninstallation featuring the karts he used to race as a child. A

tour through the sportsmans modest origins to when hebegan to take part in the promotion formulas.

mbito 2. LA COLECCINEl esfuerzo y la constancia del deportista espaol dieronsus frutos en 1999, cuando se le ofreci la posibilidad dedemostrar su talento en la Frmula Nissan. Tras dos aoscompitiendo en series cada vez ms cercanas a la categorareina, logr debutar profesionalmente en la Frmula 1.

La coleccin es la historia deportiva de FernandoAlonso a partir de sus objetos. Se renen en primicia losmonoplazas de las escuderas Minardi, Renault, McLaren yFerrari con los que el piloto ha competido desde sus iniciosen la Frmula 1. La espectacular coleccin de vehculosest presentada de manera cronolgica y se complementacon una gran vitrina que recoge piezas significativas comotrofeos, guantes, botas y cascos. El eje expositivo culminacon piezas de la ltima temporada 2013 y podra ampliarsecon nuevas incorporaciones.

Area 2. THE COLLECTION

The Spanish sportsman gathered the first fruits of all hiseffort and determination in 1999, when he was offeredthe possibility of demonstrating his talent in the FormulaNissan series. After two years competing in series thatwere coming closer and closer to the premier class, he

finally made his professional debut in Formula 1.

The collection is the sporting history of Fernando Alonsoseen through his own artefacts. For the first time ever, allthe single-seaters of the teams - Minardi, Renault, McLarenand Ferrari - for which the driver has competed ever sincehis early years in Formula 1 are brought together under oneroof. The spectacular collection of vehicles is presentedchronologically and rounded off by a large showcase thatfeatures important articles such as trophies, gloves, bootsand helmets. This section of the exhibition ends withartefacts from this last 2013 season, and new elementsmay well be added.

The large interactive Alo track table allows visitorsto make in-depth queries into Fernando Alonsos trackrecord throughout the kart championships, the promotion

formulas and Formula 1, but it also highlights the twindimension of the driver. As well as the array of sportingdata, we can also appreciate the impressive physicaltraining that is required and which throws up lots of

surprising facts, a photograph album that shows the mostpersonal side of the sportsman and the importance of theteam with which Fernando Alonso shares his successes.

Ever since the Asturian driver began to win his first prizes,our countrys enthusiasm for Formula 1 has never ceasedto grow. Start your engines! is an immersive experiencewhich manages to recreate the passion of a live race as ithappens.

Walking through an audio-visual tunnel with multi-screenprojectors at both sides of the room, the visitor is totally

captivated by the thrilling rhythm and excitement of thesounds and the speed. A stunning large-format installationthat shows why Formula 1 is considered one of the worldsleading spectacles.

The sporting chronicle of Asturias famous driver is fullof exciting moments. His promising beginnings in thekarting world made it clear that here was a born champion.Some years later he began to beat records and not even

accidents such as the one he suffered in Brazil in 2003managed to dampen his ardour.

The final area of the exhibition is an emotional tour throughsome of the moments that made his followers quiver withexcitement. In his own words, Fernando Alonso looksback over his career. An audio-visual in which the drivertalks about some of the most outstanding moments of hiscareer.

F1 Experiences engloba una serie de instalacionesparticipativas que permiten acercarse a algunos de loselementos ms espectaculares de este deporte. El volantede un monoplaza, la aerodinmica, la seguridad durantela carrera y el motor de un F1 se renen en un espacio quepermite descubrir de cerca el mundo de la Frmula 1.

Formula 1 is a universe in which innovation and logistics arein constant evolution. It is no surprise that many aspects ofFormula 1 are unknown and indeed a mystery in the eyes ofits followers.

F1 Experiences encompasses a series of hands-oninstallations that allow visitors to get close to some of this

sports most spectacular aspects. The steering wheel of aracing car, aerodynamics, safety during the race and an F1engine, all together in a space that allows visitors to really

TALLERES DIDCTICOS EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

Como complemento a Fernando Alonso Collection,

el Centro de Exposiciones Arte Canal pone a

disposicin de los usuarios 4 talleres didcticos para

que los nios puedan realizar actividades en la sala. Se

trata de actividades gratuitas dirigidas al pblico infantil

y escolar entre los 3 y los 12 aos. Tienen una duracin

aproximada de 20 minutos y estn programadas para

los fines de semana, viernes por la tarde, festivos y

vsperas de festivos, adems de periodos vacacionales

de Navidad y Semana Santa. Para facilitar lacomprensin de las materias, los talleres se dividen en

3 grupos de edad: 3-5 aos, 6-8 aos y 9-12 aos.

TALLER 1: EXPERIMENTACIN

El taller se convertir en un laboratorio en el que se

demostrar la proximidad entre el complejo mundo de

la Frmula 1 y el da a da de los nios. Se ensearn

palabras tcnicas, como caucho, nailon, polister,

fibras sintticas o polietileno de un modo muy sencillo.

Tambin se mostrarn los equipamientos de la Frmula 1.

Es una actividad muy didctica y dinmica.

Objetivos: Acercar a los participantes a la utilizacin de un

lenguaje cientfico.

Impulsar el trabajo en equipo.

Motivar el aprendizaje cientfico.

Promover la experimentacin y la observacin.

TALLER 2: EDUCACIN VIAL

Los participantes se dividirn en grupos y debern

colocar las seales de trfico y los semforos en una

calle imaginaria. A travs de este taller los participantes

aprendern las normas bsicas de educacin vial de

una forma divertida y participativa, y se fomentar el

trabajo en equipo.

Objetivos: Introducir a los participantes en la educacin vial.

Fomentar el trabajo en equipo y la participacin.

Familiarizarse con las seales de trfico.

Conocer cmo comportarse adecuadamente en una

va pblica.

To round off the Fernando Alonso Collection, the Centro

de Exposiciones Arte Canal has devised 4 educational

workshops so that children can have lots to things to do to

keep them busy in the exhibition room. The activities are

free of charge and are aimed at youngsters and children

between the ages of 3 and 12. They last approximately 20

minutes and take place at weekends, on Friday evenings,

the day before a public holiday and the holiday itself, and

throughout the Christmas and Easter holiday periods. To

ensure the children understand all the different topics, theworkshops are divided into 3 age groups: 3 to 5, 6 to 8

and 9 to 12 years-of-age.

WORKSHOP 1: EXPERIMENTATION

The workshop will turn into a laboratory that will show

children how close the complex world of Formula 1

really is to their own day-to-day lives. They will be

taught technical words such as rubber, nylon, polyester,

synthetic fibres or polyethylene in a very simple way.

They will also be shown equipment that is used in

Formula 1. It is a highly educational and dynamic activity.

Objectives: To help participants become accustomed to using

scientific language.

To encourage teamwork.

To stimulate an interest in science.

To promote experimentation and observation

WORKSHOP 2: ROAD EDUCATION

The participants will be divided into groups and will have

to set out traffic signs and traffic lights on an imaginary

street. Participants in this workshop will learn the basics

of road education in a fun and participatory way, and the

teams will be encouraged to put effort into what they do.

Objectives:

To introduce participants to road education.

To encourage teamwork and participation.

To make them familiar with traffic signs.

To learn how to behave properly on the public highway.

TALLER 3: BUENOS HBITOS

A travs de este taller los participantes podrn

entender cules son los buenos hbitos que les pueden

convertir en grandes deportistas: una dieta saludable y

la prctica diaria de ejercicio. Se trata de una actividad

muy participativa en la que los nios realizarn un gran

puzle como punto final.

Objetivos: Mostrar la importancia de una alimentacin

equilibrada, los buenos hbitos y la actividad fsica.

Adquirir costumbres saludables.

Diferenciar entre sedentarismo y actividad fsica.

Analizar los hbitos saludables de un deportista.

Fomentar la participacin de los alumnos.

TALLER 4: CREATIVIDAD

A partir de la decoracin de cascos o del diseo

de su propio coche, los pequeos desarrollarn su

creatividad. Todos los materiales estarn adaptados a

su edad, y se les motivar a descubrir y experimentar

con la Frmula 1.

Objetivos: Desarrollar la creatividad y la imaginacin.

Experimentar con diferentes materiales.

Fomentar el respeto por el trabajo de los dems.

Analizar la importancia de los elementos de

proteccin en la Frmula 1.

WORKSHOP 3: GOOD HABITS

The participants will find out about the good habits

that can help them become outstanding sportsmen and

women: a healthy diet and a daily exercise routine.

At the end of this very participatory activity, the children

will have to solve a giant puzzle.

WORKSHOP 4: CREATIVITY

An opportunity for children to develop their creativity

by decorating helmets or designing their own cars. All

the materials will be adapted to their age group, and

they will be encouraged to discover and experiment

with Formula 1.

Objectives:

To develop creativity and the imagination.

To experiment with different materials.

To foment respect for other peoples work.

To analyse the importance of the protective elements

that are used in Formula 1.

El Centro de Exposiciones Arte Canal Madrid seinaugur en noviembre de 2004 con la exposicinGuerreros de Xian que fue visitada por 435.000personas en poco menos de tres meses.

Tras ella, la entidad ha programado otras exposicionescon tan buena acogida de crtica y pblico como laprimera. As, los madrileos han podido disfrutar delas muestras: Faran, M.C. Escher. El arte de loimposible, Roma SPQR, Madrid, 2 de mayo1808-2008, Star Wars, The exhibition, Tesoros delas culturas del mundo, Alejandro Magno. Encuentrocon Oriente, Da Vinci. El Genio o Pompeya,catstrofe bajo el Vesubio. Con ellas, la sala del Centrode Exposiciones Arte Canal Madrid ha conseguidocerca de tres millones de visitantes.

La sala ocupa la mitad de uno de los cuatro mdulosdel cuarto depsito enterrado de Canal de Isabel II

Gestin. Una estructura de la primera mitad del siglo XXcon capacidad para 141.000 metros cbicos de agua.Situada a 9 metros de profundidad con respecto alparque Cuarto Depsito, tiene una superficie de msde 4700 metros cuadrados y la planta baja de 3500metros cuadrados, de los cuales ms de 2000 metroscuadrados corresponden al rea expositiva.

Este centro de exposiciones fue acondicionadoespetando al mximo la construccin original, similara los antiguos aljibes romanos y rabes. De hecho,conserva las arcadas del antiguo depsito que leproporcionan el aspecto de una enorme mezquita, conun total de 144 arcos de ms de 7,5 metros de altura.

The Centro de Exposiciones Arte Canal Madrid wasinaugurated in November 2004 with the exhibitionWarriors of Xian, which attracted more than 435,000visitors in a little under three months.

Following that first exhibition, the entity has put onother exhibitions which have met with the approval ofcritics and public alike. The Madrid public has been ableto enjoy the exhibitions: Pharaoh, M.C. Escher. Theart of the impossible, Rome SPQR, Madrid, 2 May1808-2008, Star Wars, The exhibition, Treasuresof the cultures of the world, Alexander the Great. AnEncounter with the East , Da Vinci. The Genius orPompeii: disaster under Vesuvius. Altogether, almostthree million visitors have graced the halls of the Centrode Exposiciones Arte Canal Madrid.

The hall occupies half of one of the four modules ofthe fourth underground deposit of Canal de Isabel II

Gestin. A structure from the first half of the 20thcentury which was able to hold 141,000 cubic metersof water. Situated 9 metres below the Cuarto Depsito

park, it has a total surface area of more than 4700square metres. The ground floor occupies 3000 squaremetres, of which more than 2000 are given over to theexhibition area.

When this exhibition centre was refurbished thegreatest possible care was taken to respect the originalconstruction which is similar to the ancient Roman and

Arab water deposits or aljibes. It does in fact preservethe arches of the old deposit which made it look like anenormous mosque, with a total of 144 arches each more

than 7.5 metres tall.

The Fundacin Fernando Alonso was born from thedesire to promote, participate, stimulate, take part anddevelop initiatives in road safety both from a culturalviewpoint and in terms of research and the professionaland technical training of our younger generations. In

particular, it pursues educational ends, aiming to trainchildren in all aspects of road safety.

In the same vein, its mission is to support and facilitate

the social reincorporation of young people who havebeen injured in traffic accidents.

The main aims of the Fundacin Fernando Alonso are:

Promotetraffic education as a mandatory subjectin schools.

Participatein the tasks of education and roadsafety with the Spanish Directorate Generalof Traffic (DGT), the Ministry of Education andministries in the autonomous communities.

Stimulateparents to model correct road safetybehaviour for their children, and young people tomaintain correct road safety awareness.

Take partin international scientific, private-sector,educational, health-sector, tactical or university

studies and research to optimise road safety.

Developprogrammes for childrens and youngpeoples road safety education, and awareness-raising of society in this sphere.

La Fundacin Fernando Alonso nace con el objetivode promover, participar, estimular, intervenir ydesarrollar iniciativas para la seguridad vial tanto decarcter cultural como de investigacin y preparacinprofesional y tcnica de las jvenes generaciones. Enespecial, persigue la educacin y formacin de niosen aspectos relacionados con la seguridad vial.

Del mismo modo, pretende apoyar y facilitar la

reintegracin social de menores que hayan sufridoaccidentes de trfico.

Los principales objetivos de la Fundacin FernandoAlonso son:

Promoverla educacin vial como tema obligatorioen los colegios.

Participaren labores de educacin y seguridad vialcon la Direccin General de Trfico, el Ministeriode Educacin y las consejeras de las comunidadesautnomas.

Estimulara los padres, a travs de sus hijos,a practicar conductas correctas en materia deseguridad vial, y a los jvenes a mantener unaactitud vial correcta.

Interveniren investigaciones y estudiosinternacionales de optimizacin de la seguridadvial, cientficos, cvicos, educativos, sanitarios,tcticos, de universidades, etc.

Desarrollarprogramas de educacin vial infantil yjuvenil, y de sensibilizacin de la sociedad en estembito.
