My thesis explored the daylight design and daylight strategies of a
proposed community building in Clongriffin, Dublin. Two methods were used to
perform the daylight analysis on the building. They were the Daylight Factor
Calculation using the Ecotect software and the analysis of the illuminance level in
the building using images generated by the RADIANCE software. The results of both
methods were then compared. The best daylight design strategy was applied using
the results.
Daylight Analysis of Design Propositions for The Clongriffin Community Centre
The Analysis of angle of midday sun for Winter Solstice,
Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice
Sunpath diagram using Ecotect
Light Box Experiment using three different types of roof apertures under a clear sky
condition , at 12pm on the 21st of March 2010. The purpose is to study the impact of
direct sunlight penetration into a room.
