DISTRICT SPORTS CHAMPIONS!! For the second year running, Tadworth have
been victorious at the North Downs District
Sports Athletics Competition! On Thursday 19
June we took a large team of budding athletes
from Yrs 3, 4, 5 & 6 to Su/on Arena. This
commi/ed group of sports stars, supported
by some equally commi/ed parents, took part
in a range of events including: sprints, middle
& long distance, relays, long jump and ball
throw. All of the children had trained hard
and tried their very best on the day. We
were really impressed, as always, by how well
the children behaved. We were delighted
when all of the hard work paid off and the
Tadworth team won the large schools
competition! Charlo/e Robson (Yr 5) recalls
that, ʺMillie was very determined because she threw herself across the finish line to win her race and now has the
scars to prove it!ʺ Nikhil Karia (Yr 6) said, ʺIʹve enjoyed all 4 years that Iʹve been
to District Sports and this year was the best. It was great to win in my last year
at Tadworth!ʺ
Thank you to all the parents for your help with the place judging, long jump,
transporting and supporting. LP, ES, FP
Thanks too to our trio of ’trainers’ - Miss Prophet, Miss Sharp and Mrs Perkins. JK
ʹLa chenille qui fait des trousʹ This week some students from year 3 (Ryan, Jamie, Melvin, Eve, Kamal and
Mary) were given a treat when Year 6 read the story ʹLa chenille qui fait
des trousʹ (The Hungry Caterpillar) to them as part of their French project. It was
amazing to hear Year 6 read a book entirely in French with such expression and
confidence. Bravo !
Madame Casali
James’ Basketball Success Story James Cook has trained in basketball with ʺBall Up Sportsʺ since he was
seven years old. He is passionate about this sport; he practices at home and
a/ends a BUS club three times a week. All his training is starting to pay off,
as recently he was chosen out of 60 boys to represent the South of England
Under 11ʹs squad. They competed last Saturday at the national tournament
in Sheffield. The final match was South East vs East and it was neck and
neck up to the last few minutes ,when James managed to get in a reverse
layup (backwards throw in the basket) which secured the win! The South
East England squad Under 11ʹs are now being considered to represent
England and compete in Europe later this year. Congratulations to James on
his great achievement.!
