Carbery Win U14 Inter-Divisional Blitz On Monday October 31st, the Carbery U14 hurlers lined out for the

inter-divisional hurling blitz in CIT, playing in the B section which

contained six teams. The final of the B competition, between Carbery

and Imokilly B saw Carbery open up a half-time lead of 0-10 to 0-3,

after playing with a strong breeze. With the West Cork defence well in

control throughout, this lead was never threatened, with a final score-

line of 0-15 to 0-6 displaying a fine scoring return from a forty minute

game. Team captain, John O'Sullivan of Ahan Gales, finally lifted the

tournament trophy, which was a worthy reward for all concerned.

Avondhu won the A tournament, beating Seandun and Imokilly.

Handball: Killian Reaches for the Stars Cork's Killian Carroll is expected by many to follow in the footpath of

players in the calibre of Cavan's Paul Brady and Westmeath's Robbie

McCarthy and reach the pinnacle of the Irish game in the coming years.

The Mallow club man has already bagged international honours, which

includes two US Junior National victories at U15 and 17 levels and is

the current All-Ireland minor singles and doubles champion. Last

weekend at the Golden Gloves senior ranking event, Carroll sent out a

clear signal of intent to all his key challengers for the 19 and under

slot. At the Belfast venue, Carroll was playing at a very high level and

proved that he could compete and beat some of the top senior players

in the domestic game.
