Everybody needs a good buddy!
As the De Paul Manor Estate
community grows with new residents
moving in on a weekly basis, so does
the ever-expanding list of activities
and hobby groups that have formed.
Joining the line up of Bocce, cards,
Yoga, craft, quiz nights and Tai Chi
(to name a few) are line dancing, a
new gardening group, mahjong and
a library interest group headed up by
a retired librarian.
Something for everyone
The best thing as far as the
residents are concerned is that
they can enjoy all these activities
without leaving the community.
A perfect place to retire for the over 65’s
Despite the fact that De Paul Manor
Estate is an independent-living
community, residents enjoy the
peace of mind of priority access
to the adjacent award winning De
Paul Villa aged care facility should
the need ever arise. That need
became a reality for one couple
recently after failing health meant
one partner needed full time care.
The good news is that now the other
partner can take a short stroll from
De Paul Manor Estate to the aged
care facility next door for daily visits
De Paul Villa Aged Care
and arrangements have been made
so the couple can continue to attend
community events together that are
held in the Residents’ Retreat.
De Paul Manor Estate also employs
a Residents Services Coordinator
(Jess) who is qualified in case
management and counselling and
is available to offer residents and
their families confidential guidance
on a range of subjects from personal
care to medication supervision. But it
doesn’t stop there; the private estate
provides a free pharmaceutical drop
off, 24-hour emergency call buttons
in each apartment and the latest
security measures for peace of mind.
To make moving in to the new
community just that little bit easier,
De Paul Manor Estate residents have
created a special ‘Buddy System’ to
help make the transition as smooth
as possible for newcomers. So when
new residents move in they are
assigned a ‘buddy’ to show them
around and introduce them to other
residents and the range of activities
and interest groups on offer.

Why I love life at the ‘Manor’
Care is as close as next door
We love the independent-living aspect, but also the interaction with other residents. We really enjoy using the gym as it is extremely important to keep the limbs supple and working.Sabina and Gerry
Laughter abounds at our Monday afternoon card group,
it’s great to be able to not only organise, but also
participate in the growing range of activities available.
I also love the caring nature of the residents and staff.
Jill
I love that I can have my wonderful “Mr Finnegan” with me here. My family often come and stay with me and are delighted with the support and care I receive. I also love that I can walk to the Church which is so close by. Lilly and Mr Finnegan
I enjoy the relaxing daily read of the Australian, along
with a coffee and a chat with residents passing through
the Retreat. The Manor has met and surpassed all our
expectations of life in a retirement village environment.
Jack
Security was an important issue for us. We are very happy in our lovely three bedroom unit and delighted that we can go away on our travels, lock up and know that fellow residents and staff are keeping an eye on things for us. Merv and Denise
The Manor is a happy place with excellent facilities and
we make good use of the gym and swimming pool. We
value the new friendships in our lives that have formed
since we moved in twelve months ago.

Cocktails, coriander, clogs and the Kilkee! You could say that it’s definitely
a case of the more the merrier
when it comes to social events,
get-togethers, interest groups and
outings such is the adventurous
spirit within the tight-knit community.
Whether it’s cocktails with live
music at the Residents’ Retreat,
‘Men’s drinks’ on Friday afternoons,
joining a new hobby group, or visiting
a destination in the community
bus, the social diary is always full
of fun options. Recently, more than
30 residents including newcomers
joined in the fun with a cruise around
the waterways of Sanctuary Cove
aboard the SS Kilkee, followed
by a magnificent seafood lunch at
the Marine Village. The residents
regularly head off to a new
destination for lunch or dinner,
sampling culinary delights from
around the globe. A group visit
to a famous Thai restaurant and
another to Teavine House to enjoy
sumptuous lunches was also on the
agenda lately. Perhaps one of the
most memorable events was ‘Dutch
Night’ which saw residents dressing
in Dutch costumes savouring classic
Dutch food, music and dancing at
the Residents’ Retreat.
