The Official Newsletter of Camp Tecumseh
www.camptecumseh.net May 2011
**Thursday, June 23rd - Sunday, June 26th, 2011**
There’s no better way to restore that sense of Camp Tecumseh service than to come up to Camp for a few
days and help set-up for the 2011 summer! There’s a little bit of work to be done and a whole lot of fun to be
had...all while under the direction of Mr. Fraser and Mr. Glascott!
Arrive as early as Thursday’s breakfast (8:00am) to get yourself situated, as projects will begin that morning
and run through the entire weekend. We ask that you depart prior to the Campers Sunday lunchtime arrival.
If you can make the whole weekend, great! If not, join us when you can. You may sleep in the cabins or
set-up a tent on campus, meals will be available in the dining hall, a Saturday evening BBQ at the waterfront
will be our featured event! All running trails,
playing fields/courts, and facilities are open
between projects!
Book your flights today! HERE is the link to
Southwest. If numbers demand it, we will run a van
to/from the airport! Flights are still just $100 round
trip from Philly!
Attendance is growing, so let us know you’re
coming today and questions to Paul Colistra at
[email protected] or 267-474-8400.
***Those in attendance will be the first to see and use the
new Munger Hall! CLICK HERE FOR THE PICS***

Tecumseh-Philly Regional Alumni and
Friends Reception
Over 30 alums came out on Thursday, March 31st, to
Baggataway Tavern in West Conshy for the CT-Philly Regional
Alum and Friends Reception. Owned and operated by CT alum
Stew Keener, the Bagga-
taway served as a great
venue for alums spread
throughout the area. Direc-
tor Jim Talbot made sure
everyone knew CT was in the
building by displaying our
new Open House banner!
We had all generations from
the 50’s + covered and even
had some current parents who came out. Mr. Glascott and Mark Luff were in attend-
ance and Tecumseh stories were flying! Thanks to everyone who made it out for the
evening with Tecumseh and we look forward to making these Receptions more routine!
The 2011 get together was like a typical soft rock radio station promo line, a great time featuring all of your favor-
ites from the 80s, 90s, and today. The 1:05pm first pitch and insane traffic didn’t deter one of the largest
reunion crowds ever (51 people) – with alums coming to Philadelphia from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and
even California. The Phils beat the Mets – and perhaps the only downside to the event was that Roy Halladay was
so good that the game ended too quickly. The worst part of something like Saturday is that you don’t have enough
time to catch up with all of the people that you want to talk to. It shows that Tecumseh is still a place in which you
can be away from it for years, but the friendships still last. It was great seeing everyone and BIG THANKS to
Blake Stabert for organizing this event for the 7th consecutive year!!! Pics HERE.
Director’s Message 109th summer just around the corner!
It’s been a long winter and we’re now looking forward to getting back up to New
Hampshire for the 2011 summer! Enrollment is filling up quickly, we have a great
Staff coming back, and we have a brand new building to open!
First things first, we look forward to hosting many of you at Alumni Work Week!
You’re invited to join us on Thursday, June 23rd and stay with us until Sunday,
June 26th. If you can’t make it up on Thursday, just join us when you can! You
are welcome to bring a sleeping bag and pillow and sleep in the Senior tents by
the Lake. You may also bring your own tent and set-up by the flag pole. Meals will be available in the
Dining Hall and Saturday evening we will hold a waterfront BBQ! Flights are still very affordable, so be
sure to book today. Please send a message to Paul Colistra at [email protected] if you can make it.
We have a nice crowd coming, so add your name to the list!
We will be opening the brand new, 8,000 square foot, indoor multi-use facility, appropriately named
Munger Hall in honor of longtime Camp Director, Mr. George Munger. I hope you have a chance to sort
through the picture link on the front page of the Newsletter, it looks amazing! You can be among the first
to see and use Munger Hall over Alumni Work Week, so more incentive to come join us!
We have expanded our Trips Program to include canoe trips and rock climbing all with their own trip
crews! Lacrosse has added depth with visiting stints from longtime CT’ers, Eric Gregg, Head St. Joe’s Prep
Coach and Brian Dougherty, All-World Team goalie! Lacrosse Head will be Mike Borsch, who is Lower
Merion High School’s Head Coach. Also new for 2011, we welcome back Blake Stabert who will serve as
the Head of Basketball! We are also excited to welcome back Pete Shaifer, Mike Doc, Bill Aronson, Matt
Scavitto, Paul Poiesz, and of course, Mr. Fraser, Mr. Galscott, and the Luff Bro’s!
And finally, we encourage your support of the Blue-Gray Fund. It’s always this time of year that we are
reminded how much the Blue-Gray Fund is able to help are families attend. The gifts that you make, turn in
to financial aid and scholarships that we can provide, which will make or brake whether some of our
Campers can attend or not. So, thank you for your past support, and hopefully you will consider continuing
your contribution to the Blue-Gray Fund!
Thanks,
Jim and Nina Talbot
Over 25% of the campers at Camp Tecumseh can
attend due to YOUR support of the
Blue-Gray Fund!!!

Fund
On Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at the Union League in Philadelphia, the Tecumseh community
came together to honor two men that have served Camp since 1948 in Jim Fraser and Bob
Glascott! 325 people filled Lincoln Hall, with representation from as far as Italy (Mazza/
Schroder!), Alaska, California, New Mexico, Michigan, Maine, Massachusetts, Tennessee,
Chicago, North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maryland, Connecticut, Dela-
ware, NYC, New Jersey, DC...what a testament to the loyalty amongst our CT family! Satur-
day morning, we woke up to find that The Philadelphia Inquirer agreed that our Reunion was
front page news (link below).
As for the presentation, Terry Cooper so eloquently deliv-
ered the nights invocation. Then, Lee Allman had the
crowd laughing up with a power point cartoon spoof of
Mr. G and Bob Glacott Jr. introduced his father. Mr.
Glascott, in his typical humble fashion, thanked everyone
for the great honor. A loud “Boom Boom” CT cheer was
led by Tim O’Shea! Click HERE for the special program
book!
John and Jeff Fraser said a few words of thanks to their
father, then Mike Reardon performed a heart-felt roast of
Mr. Fraser for his introduction. For his remarks, Mr. Fraser did
what most of us watched him do every morning in the dining
hall...Instruction assignments. “Rookies will report to fencing this
morning with Maestro. Junior I’s will climb Red Hill with Ed
Flinterman...” Mr. Fraser reeled of a legendary list of instructors
from over his years, and paid special tribute to those no longer with
us. Mr. Fraser ended by saying that above all other honors to re-
ceive, “this one is the most special to me.” A big “Fraser” CT cheer
was led by Alex Wolfington.
“Tecumseh Legends”, a special video produced by our own Henry
Roosevelt, provided the fireworks to end this special evening!

An update from Artie Armstrong up in NH…
“Just a little update in case anyone wanted
to know...It is April 1st and I am at work in
Plymouth watching snow fall. They are
calling for up to a foot but we are hoping for
only 8"! On a brighter note, since we have
had so much snow fall this winter, the lake
wasn't able to freeze as much as normal;
hopefully this means that rookie threes will
be able to swim their swim test as opposed
to walking it!”

CT camper, Greg Boyd, from
basketball season. Well done Greg!!

I thought you might like to know that I also have a guest lakefront cot-
tage on Moultonboro Neck about a mile to the north of Camp. Usually
it is rented but this week of June 18-25 is still open and perhaps some-
one might like to come with family there during the work period. It has

kitchen, bath and porch facing the Ossipees. Also two beds in the loft
suitable for children who can climb a ladder. Canoe also there and
dock and swim float. Price Off Season $640 including tax. If interest-
ed it is handled by my children at 603-304-9181 or I can talk and an-
swer questions at Florida 941-371-2750 Ext 534 until June 10.
