    Country Conference 2012goes to Cessnock

    Country Labor diaLogue

    2012 Country Conference will be held at Cessnock Performing

    Arts Centre.

    Country Laborengagement onlineOnline engagement allows country members the opportunity

    to address the tyranny of distance one of the key challenges

    country branch members face. Online engagement will also

    allow us to attract new, younger members.

    At Annual Conference we will be launching the new Country Labor website www.

    We recently launched our new facebook page: www.facebook.com/countrylabor

    Country Labor launched #countrylabor on twitter to announce the appointment

    of Steve Whan as Country Labors candidate for the Upper House.

    Oer the last 12 months,

    Country Labor has campaigned

    hard in our local communities

    for both the State and Federal

    elections, celebrated our Labor

    history and gathered together to

    discuss how to reform our Party.

    Country Conference remains the

    highlight of the Country Labor

    calendar and offers a unique

    opportunity for rural and regional

    delegates to meet in country SW

    to formulate the policy and share

    experiences.

    Country Conference in 2012 will be

    held in Cessnock at t he Cessnock

    Performing Arts Centre from Friday 24

    Sunday 26 February 2012.

    In 2012, we are reforming Country

    Conference to focus more on t raining

    and policy development. Conference

    will be expanded to include a one-

    day training session for potential

    candidates in the 2012 Local

    Government elections. There will

    also be the opportunity to break into

    smaller policy workshops, hearing from

    policy experts and branch members.

    Hill to Forster. Oer the next 12

    months, we will be launching a

    new range of training programs.

    Candidate raining

    At the 2012 Country Conference,

    we will be expanding the

    Conference to three days to offer a

    one-day training program for future

    candidates. The 2012 training will

    be particularly relevant for those

    Party Members who are considering

    standing in the upcoming Local

    Government elections.

    Whilst NSW Labor always runs

    training programs for candidates

    in either Local, State and Federal

    elections, these training programs

    occur once candidates are endorsed.

    The training program at Country

    Conference will be aimed at any

    Party Member considering standing

    as a candidate in the future.

    and materialsIn 2011 we will be launching Country

    ecruitment Training. This training will

    be aimed at local branch members

    and branch ofce-bearers and will

    focus on how you can recruit more

    members in your local community.

    This will be supported by new

    Country Labor recruitment material.

    Celebrating agreat Labor manFormer Premier Kristina Keneally

    was the guest speaker at theAnnual Harold air Dinner hosted

    by the Albury Branch in October

    2010 to celebrate Harolds many

    achieements.

    Harold was the State Member for Albury

    for 10 years after serving 10 years on

    Albury Council and is still widely respected

    as and effective advocate fo r Albury.

    Harold was instrumental in the

    establishment and development of many

    facilities around Albury.

    Honouring our history

    In 2012 we will be launching a range of newtraining programs.

    Country Labor has offered campaign training for our members for the

    last 10 years training both campaign directors and activists through our one day

    Campaign Insight Programs.

    here are a range of dinners held around country SW to honour our past

    representaties.Some of these occur annually, others bi-annually.

    an event lled day in Bathurst

    capped off by attending theannual Light on the Hill Dinner

    hosted by the Bathurst Branch.

    During her speech the Prime

    Minister called on all politicians

    to put their country, not their

    party, rst.

    Julia Gillard reected uponChieys famous remarks and how

    they remain relevant to today.

    Labor will be launching Branch

    Ofcials Training. This training will

    assist current Branch Ofcials,

    but also Party Members who

    are considering taking on a

    leadership role in their Branch in
