Costumes for my Music Video

By Joe Lever

My music video is for the song ‘Green-Eyed Monster’ by The 1984. The 1984 are an Indie Rock band and so I will style the band members and protagonist in a way that will conform to the genre. Indie band members are known to have messy hair, wear piercings, skinny jeans, baggy t-shirts, shirts, shoes/boots (as apposed to trainers), and generally give off a vibe that they do not care too much about their appearance (this is often suggested through their messy haircuts) – moreover they are not materialistic; clothes are often plain such as black/white t-shirts, denim jackets, unbranded shirts and jumpers etc.

The protagonist in my music video is also the front man of the band and so he will wear several costumes that will conform to the genre. His costumes will consist of a variety of different items of clothing such as denim shirts, t-shirts, skinny jeans, denim jackets, Harrington jackets and shirts. During a scene where the band are performing on stage, the band will again wear costumes that conform to the genre; I for one will be in the music video as the band’s guitarist as well as director – this is because I actually play the guitar and so will be able to make the guitar playing look legitimate. I have six piercings including a nose ring and so I am a suitable person to play a part of the band. The drummer James will also be styled in a similar way to ensure that the band look like a real indie band. Bria and Ross who will both be acting in the music video will wear ordinary clothing as they are not part of the band and therefore do not have to conform to the genre.
