The Faces of Jesus by Pastor Eli

History maker. World changer. Culture creator. People have lived and died under the banner of this name. Who was the middle eastern man that created a movement that still lives today? Spring Prayer Retreat

Join us on Friday, March 10 for a time of renewal, prayer for important concerns, and worship. Child care is provided. We’ll be meeting in the church sanctuary. Here’s the schedule:

• 6:00 pm: Silence and meditation• 6:15 pm: Confession• 6:30 pm: Worship and song• 6:45 pm: Prayer for unity and personal prayer• 7:00 pm: Prayer for holiness and prayer for ministries• 7:15 pm: Prayer for people• 7:30 pm: Closing worship

Praying together is the key to guidance, unity, healing, and joy.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all

God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the

fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all

generations forever and ever! —Ephesians 3:14-21

We’re displaying your creative work about the faces of Jesus during this series—this shot was taken a few weeks ago, and the collection has grown. It’s not too late to add your contribution—image, poem, sculpture. Contribute your creativity to the wall.

REACHING OUT

6 email address: [email protected] March 2017

Learn SpanishDo you want to connect with our Spanish-speaking neighbors? Don’t forget: we have a great class available to help you communicate. Join us for Everyday Spanish at 1 pm most Sunday afternoons at the church. (At times, the class is pre-empted for an important church meeting, but this will be announced.) Questions? Ask Elda Arana.

Start thinking about EasterIt’s not too early to think about our Easter Celebration and how you can help! Ronnie Mulqueen is organizing the planning team for the breakfast, worship service, and afternoon celebration. We’re working on how we’ll promote this and how we’ll make it a great time of joy and connection with neighbors and friends who are curious about our awesome God and our church. Talk with Ronnie to see how you can help—or if she asks, consider the opportunity with an open heart.

Bring your bottle backThere are still a few baby bottles from the Pregnancy Resource Center fundraiser “out there” somewhere. If you haven’t returned your bottle, please do so on SUNDAY March 5 at the latest (if you get this in the email, that’s tomorrow, people). The names of those who took AND RETURNED a baby bottle will be entered into a drawing during the potluck on Sunday,

Help the food pantryThe Pantry will be open on March 11 and we need the following items. Bring them to the church on Sunday or arrange a time to bring them when the office is open. Questions? Talk with Brian or Natalie Wade.

GETTING ORGANIZED

For your personal chaos: let the Mexico team help! You have chores that need doing. And you’re busy! There’s yard work to do, painting, cleaning, windows to wash.

On March 18th, give yourself a break—and help the Mexico Team at the same time. See the details at right and call Josh Speulda (801-580-1451) to set up a date.

LESS CHAOS MORE ORDER “The less room you have, the more challenging it becomes to find a place for everything to fit. Making use of every bit of available space is crucial to proper flow as well as to finding what you need when you need it.” (excerpt from chaostoorder.com)

With the expanding number of people and ministries at Cornerstone, coordination and cooperation have become essential to our “well-oiled machine.” Week after week, our Church Secretary, Becky Speulda, amazingly arranges, negotiates, and schedules the various groups and ministries that use our nearly 90-year-old building.

Meanwhile, another challenge lies in providing space and keeping a semblance of order among all the ministries that require storage. A year ago, we could manage our storage and keep track of things…but not now. So, some reorganizing is in the works. Those involved in the following ministries might find what you are looking for with the help of the chart below:

Food Pantry & Clothing Closet will reside in Room 5 (former Preschool classroom), SW corner room in basement.

Worship elements & décor will be stored in the room next to the nursery at the top of the stairs.

Office supplies and Administrative items will be stored in the Library closet, under the stairs.

Discipleship will also have storage space in the Library closet, under the stairs.

Brach& Youth will have the closet in the Blue Room in the basement. (formerly the Food Pantry)

Fellowship will have the Vault for storage, as well as the kitchen.

“Because He First Loved Us” ministry will be storing their ministry items in the room across from the kitchen. (the current Clothing Closet storage)

The moves will take some time to be completed, but I hope this provides useful info to those who need it. If you can’t find what you are looking for or have questions, contact Pam Martin.

JUMPING IN

Hall Monitors and Nursery Caregivers Needed!Hall Monitors roam the church building during the time the children are in the nursery and/or Jr. Church. Nursery Caregivers are those who are in charge of the nursery care. Nursery caregivers will be paired up with a couple of nursery helpers (who really do the bulk for the entertainment and interactions with the kids in the nursery).

Both positions will be served on a rotating basis (meaning you will not be asked to miss church for weeks on end). People can serve less frequently if more people sign up!

Both positions require you to be certified in the church’s Child Safety Program. Questions? Email or call the Church Office: ([email protected], 801-568-0954).

BiLT GroupsCheck out a Better in Life Together (BiLT) group! Each group meets on Thursday but at a slightly different time, and in its own place with its own personality. What do they all have in common? People who will love you and help you grow. Right now, the Shackelford and Wade groups are going through Financial Peace University and learning a lot! The Speulda group is going through a range of topics, suggested by each week’s sermon.
