Introduction
• Comparison of the current proposed MMIRE elements with:– 23 State databases• HSIS States• States databases obtained through other FHWA efforts
– Other inventories/databases• HPMS, MMUCC, SafetyAnalyst, IHSDM, and HSM
– Excerpts from comparison spreadsheets (handouts)
Comparison with States
• MMIRE Total: 180 elements• 54 elements not maintained by States
• Roadway Segment Descriptors: 99 elements– 22 elements not maintained by States
• Roadway Alignment Descriptors: 13 elements– 2 elements not maintained by States
• Roadway Junction Descriptors: 68 elements– 30 elements not maintained by States
Comparison with States:Roadway Segment Descriptors
• Includes location, lane, shoulder, median, and traffic descriptors
• States collect majority of location elements • States are not collecting some median
descriptor elements• States collect majority of traffic flow data
Comparison with States:Roadway Alignment Descriptors
• Includes horizontal curve and vertical grade descriptors
• States are collecting majority of elements– Out of 8 horizontal alignment elements, States are
