(1) Funeral Notices
1. The Thanksgiving service for Elder Venice Johnson will be held at the Macedonia Church
on Sunday, May18, 2014 @ 11a.m.
1. The funeral service to reflect on the life and work of former EJC employee Herman Taylor
has been set for Sunday June 8, 2014 at the Kencot SDA Church at 10:00 am. We invite you
to lift up these families in prayer during this period of sadness and loss.

The ASI (Adventist-Laypersons’ Services and Industries) East Chapter will be celebrating ASI Day
at the Andrews Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sabbath, June 14, 2014.
We are extending a special invitation to everyone especially our business personnel in our churches.
We have a special programme planned and the day promises to be great. Please bear this date in mind
and plan to be there.
We look forward to welcoming you.

1. A football extravaganza will be held on the grounds of the Kingsway High School May 25 involving
all the SDA Preparatory Schools in the corporate area. Please see our website under upcoming events
for the flyer.

(4) Notices from the Health Ministries & Stewardship Department
1. The Health Ministries Department will be hosting its annual Lifestyle Retreat at Golden Acres in
St. Andrew June 5-8, 2014. Cost $7,700. See poster on our website or contact the Health
Ministries Department at 924-1061for more information.
2. 5K Run/Walk and Children’s Fun Day – June 1, 2014. Have you signed up yet ? Do it now !

3. Medical Missionary training will be held July 27- September 13, 2014. Cost $7,800.
4. Health Summit – August 14-17, 2014 in Mandeville, under the theme, “Protecting Your Health.” The main presenters will be Dr. Hansel Fletcher and Dr. Craig Jackson, Professors at Loma Linda University, California.

5. Leadership & Professional Development Seminar—September 3-4, 2014. Please see website for
details.
(5) Notices from the Children’s Ministries Department
1. Children’s choir rehearsal will take place on May 17 beginning at 4 p.m. sharp at the
Kingsway High School. The choir directors are Sis. Kareen Murray (Andrews SDA) and Dr.
Julie Ann Grant (North Street SDA).
2. The date for Children’s Convention has been shifted due to the hectic schedule and the
involvement of many key players of the CM team members.
3. Team members we solicit a contribution from all of you to assist our missionaries to Belize.
Little is much when God is in it. Imagine all of our churches contributing even J$500.00 per
church. This could help the missionaries with their dormitory contribution. See letter on our
website.
4. The Children’s Ministries department invites all CMDs to participate in the fund raising Lap-
a-thon that will held on Friday, May 23, 2014. Proceeds will be in aid of ASI/IAD Belize
Mission 2000 & Beyond, Walkers’ Children’s Home & Child Month activities. Team
members, kindly update us on your progress.
5. Our fund raising fish fry takes place on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Kindly inform the office
about the number of tickets sold so we can adequately cater for the day’s event. We still have a
few tickets left to make the target effective.
6. Do not hesitate; order now, from the office, your VBS materials and certificates and collect
same before June 30.
7. IT’S CHILD’S MONTH – Love and manage ‘your children’ the way you would like to be managed.

(6) Women’s Ministries Department
1. IMAP spousal treat will be held on Sunday, June 8 beginning at 3:00 p.m. All team members
are asked to invite a non SDA to this function. We need pictures for the pictorial. We ask that
you send this via email/ hard copy. Contribution is $990.00 per person. Ladies this will be our
little treat to the males.
2. The Thanksgiving service for Elder Venice Johnson will be held at the Macedonia Church on
Sunday, May18, 2014 @ 11a. m. Let’s remember to pray for the family and to don one of
Venice’s favorite colors (lavender/purple). Our tribute will be “Remembering Venice… Let us
count the ways”.
3. The General Conference Women’s Ministries’ Emphasis Day material for June is available.
See the EJC website or call the office to arrange for your hard copy.
4. Come join the EJC GEMS in their fund raising Lap-a-thon on Friday, May 23, 2014.

(7) Youth Ministries Department
1. YOUTH CONGRESS-GUATEMALA 2014: All delegates to the Youth Congress in
Guatemala are being asked to make final payment for their hotel accommodation to the
Jamaica Union NOW! Accommodation for triple occupancy rooms is US$550.00 per person
for the duration. Double occupancy is US564.00.
2. EJC HONOURS’ COMMITTEE:
On Sunday May 18, the Honours Committee will communicate to each church the three
(3) sample booklets it would like to review for each honour.
Exams will be on Sunday May 25, and club directors should send the requested sample
booklets only on that date.
Sign Language Honour requirements:
1. Know the Sign Language alphabets
2. Know the Pathfinder Song and be able to sign the song “Draw Me Close to You.”
3. Complete a one page written report on a school that specializes in deaf education
Note: a practical examination will be given for this honour.
3. BIBLE BOOM 2014: It’s almost time for the play-offs to begin and Bible Boom promises to
be more inspiring, interesting and fun. The Books to be studied are Hosea-Micah. Every AYS
must be on board as we want our youth to become men and women of the WORD!!!

1. Prison Ministry Take-out Luncheon - May 22, 2014 – Tickets, $700.00 & $800.00
2. EJC School of Evangelism, Year 4 & IAD Year of Non-formal Education – Sabbath School
Teacher Training begins on May 25, 2014 in the EJC boardroom starting at 9 a.m. All Sabbath
School teachers must attend these sessions to be certified in October 2014. Application Forms
are available online.
3. June 14, 2014 – MM 14 Cluster C New Believers’ Convention & June 21 for all other Clusters.
4. EJC Family Fun Day and Ambassador Bring & Buy Sale: August 6, Zone 4 & August 10, 2014,
Zones 1, 2 & 3. We need all your recyclable bottles for our bottle drive.
(9) Notice from the Family Life Department
1. The National Singles Convention is to be held August 23-24, 2014 at Duncans, Trelawny.
(Please click here for registration form) We invite those who are interested in attending to
register through the EJC Family Ministries Department. See upcoming events on the EJC
website for flyer. In the light of these activities the East Jamaica Conference will not be
having a Singles Convention for 2014. However, November 29, 2014 will be celebrated as

(10)Notice from the Elder’s Association
The Elder's Association continues it's Certification Training program on May 18, 2014 between the
hours of 9:00am and 11:00am at the EJC Board Room. The session which focuses on Stewardship
& Finance in Leadership will be done by Elder Oran Hall of the Hope SDA Church. Due to the
funeral service of one of our Elders who has been a sterling member of the Association, the
Executive decided to curtail the remainder of the day’s program to facilitate full support to the
family, some of whom are also members of the Association.

Students dominated and splendidly executed the Education Day programme at the New
Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church, on May 10, 2014. From
kindergarten to undergraduates, the youth were galvanized into action,
under the theme “Christian Education: An Opportunity for
Transformation.” students featured prominently in the A.Y.S.

Women’s Rights enthusiasts have often questioned the right to describe
God in the masculine gender. Some would have been specially
interested in Pastor Meric Walker’s topic, “God as Mother’ presented at
the Washington Gardens SDA church on Sabbath May 10.

2. Last Sunday the Andrews SDA Church delivered again and pulled off another successful staging
of "An evening of Excellence" at the University Chapel. Pastor Adrian Cotterell and his Tez
