(1) Convention 2014 – St.Thomas

The Annual Convention for Zone 4 (St. Thomas) will be held at the Morant Bay SDA Church on Sunday,

January 26, 2014 commencing at 9 a.m.

(2) MM 14 Gospel Campaign

The MM14 Campaign – “Count Down to the End” began at the National Heroes Circle on Sunday. If

(4) Notices from the Sabbath School / Personal Ministries / Comm. Services Department

1. All Sabbath School Superintendents & Personal Ministries Leaders are reminded that

your quarterly report is now overdue (January 10, 2014).

2. All School of Evangelism graduates for 2013 are encouraged to make contact with the EJC

Sabbath School Department, if you have not yet done so.

3. Zones 1-3 Community Services leaders Monthly meeting, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 10

a.m. & Senior Citizens’ Bi-monthly meeting at 1 p.m. in the EJC Chapel.

4. Sabbath School Superintendents,(Zones 1-3), are asked to meet with the EJC SS

departmental leader on Sunday, February 2, 2014 during the lunch break of the Jamaica

Union Workshop, to be held in the EJC boardroom.

5. The 2014-2015 Ambassador search has begun. We are encouraging all churches to have the

juniors, teens and youth, ages 13-22 years participating in this programme.

6. Reminding all Sabbath School Superintendents to ensure the conduct of the Parent Care

Group (PCG) & Operation Reclamation and to register the relevant names to the MM14

Initiative.

7. Birthday greetings to our seniors, born in the month of January; wishing you good health and

a blessed and peaceful 2014.

(5) Notices from the Health Ministries Department

1. No organization can operate effectively without an operational budget. We are asking our

Pastors to turn in their church budget by the end of March 2014.

2. kindly take note of the following Stewardship dates:

a. Stewardship Week – April 19-26, 2014

b. Stewardship Convention – May 3, 2014

c. Stewardship Training for Pastors – May 5, 2014 (IAD,JAMU)

3. One of the tools to be given to the Pastors and Stewardship Directors in the churches is a

series of Stewardship lessons for members called “A Guide to Counsels

on Stewardship.” This

includes ten lessons which can be conducted over a two months period. Please turn in an

order for the number of lessons you need for your church. The cost for each book is $150.

00. We still have some paper back Councils on Stewardship for $100.00.

4. The Ministerial Department in collaboration with the Health Ministries Department of East

Jamaica will conduct a Medical Missionary Training for Pastors – An Introduction to Health

Evangelism. The Programme will be conducted every Thursday in May – Dates: May 1st ,

20th

22nd

and June 5th. .

The venue will be East Jamaica Conference Boardroom

beginning at 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Please register now: - Hydrotherapy and Nutrition,

Vegetarian Cooling, Anatomy and Physiology, Herbal Remedies, God’s Healing Programme,

Health Evangelism, Health Reform, Basic First Aid. These are some of the topics to be

presented.

5. SDA Schools Temperance Week – February 17 – 21, 2014

6. 5K Run/Walk and Children’s Fun Day – June 1, 2014

7. Global Conference on Health and Lifestyle (Geneva, Switzerland)

(6) Notices from the Children’s Ministries Department

1. The Children’s Ministries department will be having its fund raising fish fry and lap-a-

thon in April and May respectively. Proceeds will be in aid of our Belize mission trip and

children’s home. Contact your Children’s Ministries Directors for tickets.

2. ASI/IAD Mission Preachers get ready to preach the word in the Metro Mission 2014 Children’s

Crusade. Invite your friends and watch them give their hearts to God.

3. Child Preachers’ Graduation will be held on March 8, 2013. Venue to be announced

4. EJC Children’s choir practice will begin in March. Watch the press for details.

5. All persons, new and returning missionaries from zones 1-4 who have an interest in the

mission trip to Belize are invited to a meeting and prayer session on February 1, 2014 in

the EJC Boardroom beginning at 3:30 p.m. Parents of missionaries under 18 are expected

to be in attendance.

6. Church Selection of Bible Spell-a-thon participants February 22, 2014

7. Commendations to the approximately 150 women, children and GEMS executive team

members of Zones 1-3 who turned out for our Commitment Service and luncheon

meeting which was convened at the Kencot SDA Church on Sabbath, January 18, 2014.

(7) Women’s Ministries Department

1. Hats off to the presidents and executive members of GEMS and the women’s ministries team

members for your attendance at the commitment service and luncheon meeting that was held at

the Kencot Church last Sabbath, January 18, 2013. The attire is your GEMS uniform.

2. Women’s Day of Prayer/ MOMS in TOUCH Launch March 1, 2014

3. Level 3 Leaders’ Certification Training (part 1) will be conducted from March 27-29, 2014

4. Team members every week you are sent a note from the desk of your EJC Director through the

PRO Kareen Simpson. For 2014 we would like you to keep abreast of current happenings.

Please indicate if you are receiving same. Keeping in touch, the way to go.

The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it,

(8) Youth Ministries Department

1. POSTPONED: EJC YOUTH WORKSHOP: The Youth Workshop which was scheduled for

February 2, 2014 has been postponed until February 9, 2014 because of a JAMU workshop

involving directors to be held on that day. The workshop will now be held at the V.H. Percy

Centre, Kencot instead of the EJC Boardroom.

2. BIBLE BOOM 2014: Promises to be more inspiring, interesting and fun. The Books to be

studied are Hosea-Malachi. Every AYS must be on board as we want our youth to become men

and women of the WORD!!! More info will be available at the Youth Workshop on February 9,

2014.

3. ZONAL FEDERATIONS: The Current Federation Presidents and Area Coordinators are asked

to continue in their current positions until elections are called on February 9, 2014. (This will be

done at EJC Youth Workshop). Thanks!!!

4. PATHFINDER JAMBOREE 2014 (APRIL 17-21): All Pathfinder Clubs get ready to spend

your Easter Weekend with hundreds of youth from Jamaica Union @ Pathfinder Jamboree 2014.

The Venue for the Jamboree is Camp Verley, St. Catherine. Stay Posted for more details.

5. GLOBAL YOUTH DAY 2014 (GYD 2014): Start planning for this grand event…it will be

bigger, and better than 2013! (Please give the orders for your T-Shirts to your Area

Coordinators). The subsidized cost will be given soon.

6.JAMU E-News: The Jamaica Union is now inviting youth to submit news items, testimonials, clean

Christian jokes, stories, significant happenings in your area and other articles to the EJC Youth Department

for inclusion in its upcoming E-Paper. Submission should be sent to [email protected].

7. YOUTH CONGRESS, Guatemala 2014: Closing Date for registration is January 31, 2014.

Registration cost: $ US 80.00. Limited space!!! Please see below for cost: Youth Congress, Guatemala 2014

The Hagley Park Preparatory School will be launching its 60th

Anniversary celebrations at the

Hagley Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 114a Hagley Park Road, on February 15, 2014 @ 11:00

a.m. All students, past and present along with family, friends & well-wishers are invited.

Keynote speaker will be Pastor Errol Thomas, veteran Education & Family Life Director and Youth

Leader. Presenting soul-stirring music will be the 3-time JCDC Gospel Award Winners - the Hagley

Park Prep. School Choir and the 60th

Anniversary Mass Choir of the school.
