• A structured process to help members develop a long term plan for the future of your Club

• A way to move Clubs up the ‘vibrancy scale’• An ongoing process• A process fully supported by RIBI• A Programme, fully supported by our 1250 DGs for

the next 3-4 years

A bit of background

• Visioning started in 2002 in District 5960 (Minnesota and Wisconsin)

• Developed by Rotarians Steve and Terri Wilcox who adapted techniques they use professionally

• Spread to Canada, New Zealand, Australia and now across RIBI. In use in 94 Districts worldwide

• Now fully committed to in the UK

Visioning is not…

• Not anything to do with SPECSAVERS!• Not just about getting new members• Not anything to do with Future Vision• Not about change for the sake of change!• Not something you will be told to do by District or

the DG• Not a quick fix!

So why is a plan needed?

• The world around us is changing-fast!• Tradition of annual cycles has not always been fully

effective• Need for greater Continuity, Consistency

Visioning Sessions

• Facilitated by the District Visioning team• Involves all members –up to about 30 max.• Up to four hours • Uses a tried and tested methodology gets the group to

answer the key planning questions– Who are we?– Where are we?– Where do we want to be?– How will we get there?– How will we know when we get there?

Where are we up to in our District?

• Core 1250 Facilitator Team: John Watkins, Simon Crowther, Frank West ,Sue Knight, David Gill.

• Facilitator training was 13th July at Holiday Inn Guildford• First full club Visioning Session was on 8th September• More sessions booked for, February, March, April and May• 30% of Clubs in District now had Visioning presentations• Clubs-Good uptake to do full Visioning Session• The District Executive Teams and Committee Chairs have

engaged in a full Visioning Session on Saturday 14th December 2013
