Healthcare/ Life Sciences Challenges overcome by SAP / HANA

Healthcare / Life Sciences companies need real-time information and insights to maintain their competitive advantage • Real-time Analysis of Complaints for Life

Sciences• Personalized Patient Treatments• Centralized Patient Records• Inventory Control, Production and Warehouse

Management.• Automatic real-time Overall Equipment

Effectiveness (OEE) calculations to identify cost reduction opportunities.

• Easy readability with spreadsheet-like view of production activity across different plant types.

• Analyze flexible consumption of material across locations, at different levels/ hierarchy of material to make a final product

• Stop Price Erosion, • Excessive Discounting and • Vendor Fraud

Example Genome Analysis & Biotechnology Research: Currently it takes days to find differences in genome data between different crops resulting in:• Poor decision making for hospitals that conduct cancer

detection from base on DNA sequence matching• Delays in new crop protection discovery and higher

associated costs due to lack of insights in crop disease data

Other areas of concern• customer service complaint process and response• future product innovation• compliance via collecting complaints in one area• insight through seamless analysis of structured and

unstructured(text) data• data-crunching to keep up with GMP rules• Maintaining competitive advantage

Provider’s As-A-Service Value Proposition With As-a-Service solutions for SAP(running on Non-HANA RDBMS), SAP HANA and S/4 HANA; Provider endeavours to: Consolidate SAP Landscape within Provider Dual DCs with in-built technology refresh, monitoring tools, O/S, Database

management, SAP BASIS and other ongoing support services. Raise average utilisation of underlying infrastructure to at least 90% in terms of SAPS and Storage utilized. Reduce DC footprint and associated power, cooling and space by 60% thereby lowering associated Carbon footprint and

provisioning Greener IT Allow re-purposing of the HW to run any non-production environments at different times to achieve higher SID to HW ratio. Facilitate building Hybrid Cloud(s) / Mixed delivery models that provide high flexibility and scalability. Facilitate quick (on-demand) provisioning of temporary environments for short durations (say days to months) and quick

turning-off (decommissioning) of unwanted environments. Provide full flexibility of ramping-up and ramping-down in-line with business workloads with continuous capacity and service

level management. Facilitate consumption-based billing based on actual usage/consumption on set time-frame as opposed to 'installed/unused'

model. Provide priority access to Demos, PoVs (Point-of-Views), PoCs, Consulting, and Provider’s Co-Innovation Lab. Reduce business downtime during migration phase(s) as well as operational maintenance after Go-Live by leveraging NZDT

(Near Zero Downtime) Maintenance approach.

• Including Technology Refresh, Monitoring Tools, O/S, Database Management, SAP BASIS and on-going support services

• Fully flexible, Ramp-up and Ramp-down facility• On-going Capacity Management• Re-purposing of non-prod environments• Higher SAP SIDs to Infrastructure/HW ratio

For Provider Hosted SAP/SAP HANA Landscape within Provider DCs & BYOL Deals (i.e. where Customer buys HANA Licenses from SAP directly)

Various engagement options are possible e.g. OPEX based monthly subscription model for fixed term duration with or without minimum baseline capacity

No Up-front implementation charges – No CAPEX whatsoever

Customer is billed only once they start using first environment generally a PoC or Dev. environment.

Catalogue based pricing – customer knows exactly the cost of future change requests

Customer gets privileged access to Provider’s Consulting, Innovation & Technology Roadmaps

PS: As a special case Provider may be even prepared to commercially construct deal on purely Consumption Based Model provided customer wants this in first place.

Subscription based contract with 4 major parameters

SAP and / or HANA-as-a-service: Pricing Parameters

Number of Instances/ environments e.g. Prod, DR, Dev, QA, RTE, SBX… RDBMS Database /Application Instances/VMs – in SAPS HANA In-Memory Size of Instances in GB / TB Persistent / External Storage per instance in GB / TB

Provider’s building & billing block sizes BW on HANA or Business Suite on HANA Instance – At least 0.25 TB & multiples for Production.

Monthly Billing is based either on installed capacity (i.e. subscription based model) or on actual peak consumption (i.e. Total Resident Memory used for all HANA processes including code+ stack +OS+ working space) during the month for consumption based contract(s).

In-Memory per Instance for non-production– 64GB min. & multiples of 0.64 GB Application Servers – 1000 SAPS and multiples Additional Storage – At least 50GB and multiples of 50GB.

Economies of ScalePrice per SAPS goes down for higher contracted (baseline) capacity; as cost of underlying infrastructure, large servers and fixed charges work out cheaper than small servers & associated

SAPS ( SAP Application Performance Standard) is a hardware-independent unit of measurement that describes the performance of a system configuration in the SAP environment. It is derived from the Sales and Distribution (SD) benchmark, where 100 SAPS is defined as 2,000 fully business processed order line items per hour.In technical terms, this throughput is achieved by processing 6,000 dialog steps (screen changes), 2,000 postings per hour in the SD Benchmark, or 2,400 SAP transactions.

Tool centric approach for Migration and operations• Provider proposes using Guided

Configuration & SAP ACTIVATE.• Provider will aim to reduce the business

outage and migrate to Business Suite on HANA through 2 Test Migration Cycles  • First cycle for  unit, system and

functional testing• Second cycle for  integration,

performance, UAT and dress rehearsal for cutover (with focus on minimising the business downtime)

• 1 Cutover i.e. Production Migration and Go-Live  (preferably during long weekend / break)

• All other FMO environments will be generated as system copies from Production Copy.

• Provider endeavours to use/leverage existing SAP native tools to keep Migration costs at bare minimum.

Upgrade OS, DB & Data Migration• After Go-Live, Provider will use existing

SOLMAN & Tools • Provider propose to use SAP’ ZDO for ongoing

maintenance Provider will formalize a RACI matrix with Co- vendors for quick resolution of incidents & problems• Provider will provide 24x7 support • Provider will be responsible for Capacity,

Asset, Configuration, Performance, Patch, Support-Packs, OSS Notes

Ongoing Operations

Provider will continue to provide

Consumption Report for billing, SAP Report*, Performance Report*, Availability Report

Root Cause Analysis for Priority 1 incidents

Maintenance Schedule & Forward schedule of Changes

Provider recommends using SAP’s Business Scenario Recommendation Tool to firm up business use-cases & processes.
