New RM SafetyNet filter lists

• RM SafetyNet Plus and RM SafetyNet Universal will soon include three new filter lists:

1. New Proxy Bypass filter list2. New Social Networking filter list3. New Non-Educational Games filter list

• These will be released on 17th July 08.• The Proxy Bypass and Social Networking filter lists will be

released as ‘on’ by default. • If you do not wish to block websites in these categories please

untick these categories when they are visible in your RM SafetyNet admin interface (on the above dates).

• The Non-Educational Games filter list is off by default. Please enable this list on the above date if this list is required.

• We decided not to enable the games list as standard so that the upgraded service matched your current service as closely as possible.

the new lists, in line with your Acceptable Use Policy3. Communicate the upcoming change to the

stakeholders at the school4. Plan some time to check the filtering after we have

deployed the update5. Turn on/off any filter lists as required in line with

your Acceptable Use Policy (from 17th July)6. Check any local rules added by the school to ensure

How can you change which lists are applied?

• Check the help files in the SafetyNet Plus or SafetyNet Universal Admin Interface for advice on how to enable or disable RM filter lists

• Note that if you can’t access the SafetyNet Plus or RM SafetyNet Universal admin interface, it is likely that you have SafetyNet basic rather than SafetyNet Plus or Universal, or your Local Authority manage your filter settings.
