2007 CPD Examination

April 21, 2007

Unleash the Power of Your Professionalism

The Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) program is an international certification program for engineers and designers of plumbing systems. Successful completion of the CPD examination confers upon the candidate the designation “Certified in Plumbing Design” or CPD. The certification program provides the profession, the plumbing industry, and the general public with a single, comprehensive qualification of professional compe-tence for engineers and designers of plumbing systems.

The CPD:• Identifies those individuals who fulfill prescribed

requirements of experience, responsibility, and con-duct.

• Recognizes those individuals who meet a standard of professional competence.

• Encourages plumbing engineers to participate in a continuing program of professional development.

• Provides a standard for educational programs in plumbing engineering.

EligibilityTo be eligible to take the CPD examination, a candidate must possess a minimum of four (4) years of practical experience in a position of responsibility for the design of plumbing systems and possess a baccalaureate degree in a field related to engineering. In lieu of an accredited degree, a candidate may substitute up to an additional four (4) years of practical experience in the design of plumbing systems, for a total of eight (8) years, or be granted a credit of one-half year of practical experience for each one (1) full year of edu-cation in an accredited curriculum related to plumbing engineering.

The CPD designation is achieved through successful completion of the comprehensive CPD examination and maintained through a biennial recertification program.

ContEnt of thE ExaminationThe CPD examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions covering five major job dimensions:Gathering Information • Administration • Design • Specifications • Construction Services

tEsting fEEThe testing fee for the examination is $425 for members of ASPE and $625 for nonmembers.

PraCtiCE ExaminationWatch for information about a special CPD Practice Exam available starting February 2007 (now in develop-ment). The Practice Exam will be available online, so you can take it from the comfort of your home or office.

Examination DatEThe 2007 CPD Exam will be administered on Saturday, April 21, 2007, starting at 2:00 p.m. (Eastern time). On-site registration and material pickup begins at 1:00 p.m.

WhErE to takE thE tEstThe April CPD exam will be an online proctored exam. There will be over 200 testing sites throughout the United States and Canada. Check inside the bulletin for the site nearest you.

tEsting sChEDulEThe test will begin at 2:00 p.m. and end promptly at 5:30 p.m. You will be allowed three hours and 30 minutes to complete the test.
