Once upon a time, there was a country

called Quadrysia. The people were

square and rectangle in shape.

In school, they learned the

characteristics of the two shapes. All

of them knew the differences between

a rectangleand a square.

The rectangles were the upper-class

people. The squares were the lower-class people. They were treated very

differently.

But all babies were born square. Upper

class babies underwent tough training

to become rectangles.

Most of the upper class ladies spent

their time on their outer looks. They

did not see the importance of moral

values. So, most of them were rude and

BobRectanglemy was a young man. He

lived near the countryside. He was a

smart and clever man.

BobRectanglemy did not like the ladies

of the upper class because they were

rude. His parents were worried. They

beautiful song coming from the jungle.

melodious voice. He followed the voice

into the jungle.

from the lower class. She washed

clothes everyday to support her family.

CindySquarela to marry him.

But CindySquarela kept very quiet.

studied the Sacred Book of Quadrysia.

So CindySquarela was a rectangle too!

BobRectanglemy was very happybecause now he could marry

CindySquarela.

Quadrysia for permission to get

married. The king ordered the

Supreme Court to hear their plea. The

king was the Chief Judge.

The king referred to the Sacred Book.

He asked his wise advisors for opinions.

But the wise advisors were puzzled.

They were not sure of CindySquarelas

status.

CindySquarela was a square, but she wasalso a rectangle. But they still did not

know the reason for a squareto qualify

opinions, but no one could convince the

Finally, Princess Q, the youngest and

smartest daughter of the king said: A

square is a very special rectangle

because all squares also have the

characteristics of a rectangle.

Therefore a square is also a rectangle!

The king announced that all squares

were to be treated equally like

rectangles in his kingdom. So,
