![Page 1: Channel in a Box - AMEK Professional Audio Design and … Datasheet.pdf · · 2007-10-09"The Channel in a Box (CIB) is essentially the input channel of a very high caliber "In-Line"](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051508/5aa19ba77f8b9a1f6d8c22ff/html5/thumbnails/1.jpg)
Line input - The Line Input is a 10k0 balancedand floating transformer design which providesexcellent isolation and protection againstground currents and unwanted signals.
Mic Input - The Mic Input is a TLA (Transformer-Like Amplifier). A rotary switch is provided tostep the Gain range with a continuouslyvariable Trim. The Mic Input impedance is 5k0Ohms, producing extremely low loss from 150or 200 Ohms microphones.
Filters and EQ - The Filters and EQ stages arevirtually identical with those of the AMEK 9098iIn-Line Console including familiar features suchas 'GLOW' and 'SHEEN'. The result is an EQ thatis highly effective without being in any wayaggressive in character.
CompressorThe Compressor Section is an all analoguedesign which musically emulates the best of Mr.Rupert Neve's past designs.Compression ratio up to 40:1 is provided, virtually a limiter but without the aggressivesound of a limiter. When the 'Link' button is enabled, identical gainreduction can take place when two or moreCIBs are linked together. The gain reductionapplied is from whichever path has the greatestsignal.
Output SectionA Rotary Fader prior to the output stage allowscontrol of the each of the path's signal levels.Connections for 5k or 10k ohms external fadersare provided via XLR connectors. There has been growing realisation that, inspite of the sonic limitations of digital soundprocessing, a very high quality analogue signalpath at the input will reflect throughout thewhole audio chain and go a long way to satisfythe professional sound engineer. With carefulattention to the interfaces the character of theinput signal can be preserved throughout theentire system. The trend to higher digitalresolution makes it even more important thatwe focus carefully on the integrity of signalsfed to the input.
"The Channel in a Box (CIB) is essentially the inputchannel of a very high caliber "In-Line" Consolecontained in a 1U rack mounted assembly andcomplete with its own power supply. It incorporatesa precision switched gain microphone preamplifier;a transformer coupled Line Input amplifier, High andLow Pass filters, Four band Equalisation, and a full-featured Compressor.
"It has become common practice to surround thecontrol room console with a collection ofmicrophone preamps, equalisers and compressors- often using the original Console purely as amonitor.
"The CIB was designed for engineers andproducers who need a powerful yet compactoutboard unit combining the sonic quality andfeatures that they might wish for in their console ofchoice."
