CALAIS PORT 2015 A key port scheme CALAIS PORT 2015: fIRST-CLASS fACILITIeS A seawall 2500 m long will be built to shelter 110 hectares of dock area. The entrance channel will be dredged to a depth of 13 m. 90 hectares of new quayage will be gained using dredging fill produced when excavating the dock area. A quayside rail terminal will be built between the two basins in the port. Estimated overall cost: € 400 M. CALAIS PORT 2015: A PeRfeCT PROjeCT fOR mOdAL ShIfTS In PRe- And POST- CARRIAge The new quayage will provide the space required for the efficient integration of intermodal rail-road-sea infrastructures (Rolling and Sea Highways). These facilities will provide opportunities for the development of Short Sea Shipping. This project is part of the port’s diversification policy, but fully respects its rationale of sustainable development. Backed by the Nord Pas de Calais Regional Council, owner of the Port of Calais, the CALAIS PORT 2015 development scheme will increase the current capacity of the port with the creation of a new sea dock north of the existing port facilities, fully compliant with the environmental requirements of the site.
