Producers in the Arubiana region take their cattle to the city slaughterhouse in order to provide meat and viscera for the local market.

The local beef production has been meeting the community’s needs for many years and the producers have even been thinking about making arrangements for exportation.

In a screening performed by the competent health authorities, samples from three establishments were found to have residues of antimicrobial substances that exceeded the allowed maximum.

Gentamicin in muscle, fat, liver and kidney.Tetracycline in muscle. Penicillin in muscle and liver.

With the obtained results, the immediate concern of the authorities was to identify the locations where the positive samples had come from.

For this purpose a local veterinarian official was asked to investigate the concerned farms.
