Cal State LA Summer Master of Music in Choral Conducting Program Application Information for 2017 ELIGIBILITY For University graduate admissions, applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent in U.S. terms), with adequate preparation, from a recognized institution of higher education. Applicants must have attained a minimum 2.5 grade point average (A=4.0) in the last 90 quarter units (60 semester units) attempted. All degree equivalencies and grade point average calculations are determined by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. APPLICATION PROCESS Admission to the University is a two step process. Applicants are required to apply first to the College of Professional and Global Education online program application and then to the University (represented by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, via an online application – www.csumentor.edu). STEP 1. To begin, submit your application materials to the MMCC Director via College of Professional and Global Education online program application system (https:// pagereg.calstatela.edu/modules/shop/index.html?action=programBrowse&CatalogID=45). The period for submission of all application materials is November 1, 2016 to January 15, 2017 (note: all materials must be received by January 15, 2017; candidates are strongly urged to submit earlier than the final deadline). If possible, submit all required application materials; however, if there is a specific and unavoidable delay for a requirement(s), please send an email with explanation to the MMCC Director and Program Developer, then provide the additional application material(s) as soon as possible. STEP 2. Transcript instructions. You will need to obtain one copy of official and one unofficial copy of transcripts from all colleges, universities, and all post-secondary institutions attended and reported in your application forms. Without these documents, the University will be unable to consider you for admissions. YOU SHOULD NOT WAIT for a positive response from the MMCC Director but rather obtain them a.s.a.p. Official transcripts must be submitted in sealed, unopened envelopes to the California State University, Los Angeles, College of Professional and Global Education, 5151 State University Drive, Golden Eagle 215, Los Angeles, CA 90032 Attn: Choral Conducting. They should be sent from your institution to you – Do not have them sent directly from the Institution to us. The transcripts will be received by PaGE and then remitted to Admissions on your behalf. Thus, your interface with the University is online, while all documents are submitted to the online program application system. The MMCC Director may informally notify applicants as they are pre-approved, however no further action should be taken before the Formal Pre-Approval by the MMCC Director on or around January 15, 2017. Upon the Director’s Formal Pre-Approval the Office of Admissions and Recruitment will create a permit for the candidate to apply to the University between February 1 - 28, 2017. STEP 3. After you receive Formal Pre-Approval by the MMCC Director AND the online application permit, you can proceed to www.csumentor.edu to complete the Summer 2017 graduate admissions application. International Students: Academic English/Visas - Supporting Documents Checklist• Academic English All graduate and postbaccalaureate applicants, regardless of citizenship,whose preparatory education was principally in a language other than English, must demonstratecompetence in English. Those who do not possess a bachelor's degree from a postsecondaryinstitution where English is the principal language of instruction must complete and submitsatisfactory English Proficiency Exam scores.

• Acceptable exams and minimum scores are: TOEFL iBT score of 80; PTE score of 53; andIELTS band of 6.0.

• English proficiency scores can be electronically transmitted to CSULA (code 4399). Alternately,send paper versions (these must be original score reports, not photocopies, not prints of email,etc.), to the MMCC Director.

• Note that in your CSU Mentor application you can list your exam scores – this is not a substitutefor the above, but it creates a useful record so that Admissions can anticipate documents andalert applicants if items are missing.Visas - Supporting Documents Checklist

The International Office serves international students and issues I-20s (the form which justifies a student visa). After students have been provisionally approved by the MMCC Director and have initiated their application to the University via CSUM, international students (i.e., students who are not U.S. nationals or permanent residents, who will travel on an F-1 visa to study in the program) must send the following documents to the PaGE International Office:
