Yet, writers are leaders in any profession. •Law review (LR) is the equivalent of peer-reviewed journals for the legal profession. Over 100 students were invited by the dean to a call out meeting. •At the call out meeting, we reviewed Ovid Butler, the founder of Butler University, and why writing and publishing are important to leadership, and fit the university mission. •Academic and Professional Affairs Committee within COPHS (APAC) approved a 1 credit hour independent study for the spring 2015 semester for development of all policy and procedures for the open access multimedia journal. •Students requested the independent study course, and we targeted a total of 20 students. Over 30 students requested the independent •Thirty students enrolled attended a live session from a former head of the Indiana Health Law Review, and several other professionals in media and open access journals. •Students were surveyed to find out which of 6 subteams they wanted to participate on within the 1 credit hour, independent study - RX601-07 (see Figure 1 below): •Plagiarism, guest speakers in media, full team and subteam meetings, midpoint and final evaluations were all part of the learning and assessment in this independent study course.
