Director Accounts and Trea- suries (Finance Department) Altaf Ahmad Mirza said all the bills received at the treasuries up to August 3 were cleared. Giving break up of the dis- bursements, he said: “On August 1, we released Rs 222.24 crore. On August 3, bills amounting to Rs 212.63 crore were cleared and on August 5 we released a payment of Rs 66.59 crore.” Mirza said all the bills on account of salary, pension, leave salary, wages, material-supplies, contractors, TE/OE, drug diet, etc. have been cleared. “There is no liability pending with us on account of the bills presented at the treasuries up to August 3.” When asked about the claims made by some contrac- tors’ associations about pending payments/bills worth hundreds of crores of rupees on account of works already executed by the contractors, he said: “Those bills might be pending with the respective government depart- ments/divisions. But there is no liability pending at the treasur- ies,” he said. Khyber hikes milk procurement rate Srinagar, Aug 5: Here is some good news for the milk suppliers. Khyber Agro Farms Pvt Ltd today announced increase in procure- ment price. The new rates shall be effective from August 6. “The step has been taken to encourage local farmers across the Valley to boost milk produc- tion,” it said in a statement. Meanwhile, the Ramadan discount offered by the company on its products shall come to end from by August 7 evening. World Breastfeeding Week observed Srinagar, Aug 5: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Srinagar, SKUAST-K in collaboration with the Madri Meherban Society is observing the World Breastfeeding Week from August 1 to 7. In this connection a function was held at Miskeen Bagh August 1, to be followed by another at Direc- torate of Extension, SKUAST-K, Shalimar on August 6. At the first function presenta- tions were delivered by experts from SKUAST. The beneficiaries were informed about the need of support for breastfeeding. They were also apprised of trends in practice of breastfeeding, its advantages and appropriate weaning foods. Pertinently, this year the global theme for the week is “Breast Feeding Support: Close to Mothers.” 'Disburse subsidy to cocoon growers' Srinagar, Aug 5: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today directed for release of sub- sidy component to cocoon grow- ers for establishing rearing sheds by September end. The Minister was reviewing the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes launched by the government to provide techno- logical Knowhow cocoon growers. The meeting discussed thread- bare the implementation of setting up of cocoon rear sheds, etc. Kashmir gets Pashmina Mark, quality testing centre My effort is to remove all fake handicrafts sold under Kashmir label: CM Srinagar, Aug 5: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, today inaugurat- ed a Pashmina testing and quality certification centre, and launched Kashmir Pashmina Mark—Geo- graphical Indication— at Craft Development Centre at Bagh-I- Ali- Mardan here. The KPM will be attached to every hand woven Kashmiri Pashmina shawl after testing the originality of its fabric, fineness of thread, spinning method and weaving technology. The KPM would also indicate details of the manufacturer and the quality of the shawl. It carries a number about which all details will be on the website. The testing centre would come handy in checking the fake articles defaming the famed Kashmiri Pashmina. Interacting with the Pash- mina weavers, traders and other stakeholders, the Chief Minister said the restoration of the glory of handicrafts besides ensuring the economic prosperity of arti- sans is his endeavor, adding that all possible measures are being put into place in this regard. “My effort is to remove all fake handicrafts being sold in the sate in the name of Kashmir’, he said adding that to start with the spurious Pashmina shawls would be replaced by the Kash- mir patent hand woven original Pashmina shawls. He said establishment of testing laboratory at CDI Now- shera here is the first step to stop fake and unscrupulous trade in Handicrafts sector. Abdullah said the state gov- ernment has already obtained geographical indication for six handicraft products and all these would be provided similar testing facilities and geographical indica- tion marks so that their marketing in the National and International market receive considerable fillip. Chief Minister gave two years target to CDI to replace all fake Pashmina shawls from the market ensuring cent percent labeling of hand woven patent Kashmir Pashmina so that con- fidence and trust is built in the world market about the genu- ineness of Kashmir Pashmina Shawls and a customer could easily identify the fake and the original Kashmir Pashmina shawls. Srinagar, Aug 5: Treasuries in Kashmir division have disbursed Rs 500 crore from August 1.
