Transcript of Brochure KemEcal Dispersants MM NA
KemEcal™ Dispersants Process recovery varies substantially
depending on the ore, the combination of metals present in the ore,
and the grade of ore being processed. We are a leader in dispersant technology which
is highly effective for mineral grinding and dispersion used to maximize throughput
and aid in transport and handling. With over 30 years of experience in supplying
dispersion technology to North American mining operations, we provide high-quality,
proven solutions for your mineral processing and handling needs.
Our KemEcal™ dispersant product line spans a large number
of acrylic–based polymers and copolymers of varying
molecular weights, pH, termination routes, charge densities
and functionalities for desired performance characteristics.
We utilize various monomers for optimal dispersion and
grinding efficiency. Recognized variances in ore type,
content and quality, and well as the need for improved
economics, opened the doors to our formulated KemEcal
TC product line. These products have exhibited synergistic
effects in grinding and dispersion of certain minerals.
Our water–based dispersant polymers and formulations
are designed to improve processing efficiency, aid in
transportation, improve handling and provide end-use
product quality benefits. They are effective in dispersing
and stabilizing a wide range of high–solids mineral slurries,
including kaolin clay, calcium carbonate, lime, gypsum, iron
oxide and other minerals. Our products reduce the viscosity
of clay and carbonate, as well as solids containing clay and
carbonate as waste product, allowing for easier transport
and processing. Where a reduction in particle size is needed,
Chemistry Recommended use
KemEcal 211 Polycarboxylate, sodium salt General dispersant used for a variety of dispersion needs; effective for all
mineral slurries using anionic dispersants including kaolin clay and calcium
carbonate containing solids, iron oxides, and others
KemEcal 2332 Polycarboxylate, sodium salt High–performance general dispersant; effective in mineral slurries with
naturally broad particle size distribution; proven effective in kaolin clay
and calcium carbonate containing solids
KemEcal 260 Polycarboxylate, sodium salt High performance, low Mw dispersant; good incorporation into mineral
slurries; improved viscosity in dispersion of finer particle size minerals
KemEcal 240 Polycarboxylate, sodium salt High–performance dispersant; good incorporation into mineral slurries;
similar to Colloid 211 with improved wet–out capabilities in some kaolin
clay and calcium carbonate mineral slurries
KemEcal 220 Polycarboxylate, sodium salt High–performance dispersant of slightly higher Mw; good incorporation
into mineral slurries, including coarser grades
KemEcal 207 Polycarboxylate, sodium salt General dispersant with slightly higher Mw; used in mineral slurries and
detergents and cleaners
KemEcal 117/50TD Polycarboxylate, sodium salt TiO2 dispersion
KemEcal 102 Polycarboxylate, ammonium salt General dispersant used in mineral slurries with sodium-free requirements
KemEcal TC 2500 Polycarboxylate formulation Cost-effective high pH dispersant; effective for certain clay bodies; meets
dispersion needs in iron ore operations
KemEcal TC 9010 Polycarboxylate formulation Cost-effective high pH dispersant; effective for certain clay bodies; meets
dispersion needs in iron ore operations; higher grade version of TC 2500
KemEcal TC 8385 Polycarboxylate formulation High pH dispersant, recommended where thixotropy may be problematic
our products are used as effective grinding aids. They allow
grinding at a higher solids content, resulting in either capacity
improvements or similar milling results with a smaller set
of mills. Grinding is one the most energy-intensive process
steps in refining metals, and our technology can help. The
result is not only improved product quality for the end-user
but also improved cost-efficiency for the production plant.
Kemira has laboratory capabilities and expertise to recommend
the most cost-efficient solution for your unique situation.
Dispersant demand curve testing is typically performed by
our expert R&D personnel. We conduct high-shear studies
to predict mineral slurry behavior under that environment.
We also conduct grinding studies to understand the
feasibility of particle size reduction and rheology control.
