Keeping clear of GraftiI have recently noticedan increase in graffitiaround Brennan.

    Northern Territory

    Government and City of

Palmerston property aswell as private fences

    and homes have been

    vandalised by graffiti and

    this is a criminal offence.

    It is important to remove

    this graffiti from our

    neighbourhood as soon as

    possible to prevent further

damage and keep our localarea clean and attractive.

    I have written to property

    owners, the City of

    Palmerston and the NT

    Government asking them

    to remove this graffiti

    immediately. We need to

    work together to keep our

    local streets clean and safe.

    Local residents can

collect kits from the City of

    Palmerston to remove any

    graffiti you may find.

    The City of Palmerstons

    Graffiti Management

    Program outlines various

    management options

The NT Governmentis starting a newconversation withTerritorians about howwe can enhance ourcelebration of TerritoryDay, including thepossibility of a public

    holiday.Territory Day should be a

    celebration that belongs

    to the people and reflects

    everything thats so great

    about being a Territorian.

    Territorians are proud

    of our unique history,

    achievements and lifestyle

and the Territory flag shouldbe flying high on July 1

    each year.

    Cracker night will always

    be part of this celebration

    but theres an opportunity

to make it much more by

    developing a wider program

    of events that showcase our

    Territory spirit.

We want to hear your ideas

    on how we can breathe

    new life into this distinctly

    Territory event.

    The Government strongly

    believes that there should

    Putting the Territory

back into Territory Daybe a Territory Day publicholiday but how this may

happen is part of a broader

    conversation that we want

    Territorians to join.

    Weve already surveyed

    a cross-section of

    stakeholders and its

clear that Territorians arepassionate about what it

    means to live here and

    how we should mark this

    important occasion.

    One idea that came out

    of our survey was shifting

    cracker night to a weekend

    and wed like to know

    whether Territorians supportthat move.

    Wed also like to explore

    the idea of extending the

    celebration beyond just a

single day to create a more

    comprehensive Territory

Week that has a focus on

    community-based events.

    Were considering acommunity grants program

    to fund events, activities

    and programs across the

    Territory around July 1 each

    year.

    Sporting events are a great

    part of our Territory lifestyle

    and theres the possibility of

scheduling sporting fixturesto coincide with these

    celebrations.

To tell us how you think

    Territory Day should be

    celebrated visit:
