GETTING TO BRECKENRIDGE

Arriving by Plane Denver International Airport (DIA) is the nearest major airport to Breckenridge, located about 90 miles east of Breckenridge.

Shuttle Services All Vail Resorts employees are eligible for a 35% discounted shuttle to Summit County through Colorado Mountain Express. You must provide an Employee ID# at the time of booking. If you are a new employee and do not have an Employee ID#, you will qualify for the one-way service discount from the airport to the resort for travel completed before December 19th. Discount is unavailable on peak days of December 26 through January 3. Additional weekends and/or peak days may be blacked out, subject to availability. Driving from Denver 1. Drive west on I-70 about 80 miles. 2. Take the CO-9 S exit, EXIT 203, toward Frisco/Breckenridge. 3. Continue on Highway 9 South for 10 miles to Breckenridge.

Money Be financially prepared. Plan ahead and have extra money for food, travel and housing deposits. Deposits range from $300 to much more for first, last and security. Remember, you are moving to a resort community -- therefore, the cost of living may be higher than expected. Please be prepared to pay more for certain items such as food, gas, clothing, etc. It is recommended to have $800 -$1,000, or more depending on your style of living, when you arrive. Please Note: Paychecks are distributed every 2 weeks (1 week after a pay period). It is possible to work 2-3 weeks prior to receiving a paycheck.

I-9 Documents Please be aware that you must bring appropriate documents to complete I-9 verification. Please refer page 14 of this packet, or to page 9 of the following link for a list of acceptable documents for completion of paperwork: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf . Personal Items Colorado weather changes frequently and drastically. Dress in layers to maximize your comfort. Our winter temperature regularly falls to zero degrees Fahrenheit (-18 C), so be prepared!

Some Essentials • Winter coat/jacket • Sweater, fleece/long underwear for layering • Snow pants (windproof/water resistant) • Warm hat • Warm mittens/gloves • Warm (wool) socks • Warm boots with good traction/traction device for shoes • Sunscreen/lip balm (at least SPF 15) • Sunglasses

Suggested Gear • Winter sports equipment (e.g. snowboards, skis, boots, and

snowshoes, goggles) • Helmet • Hydration system (e.g. Camelback/water bottle) *Outdoor gear is available for purchase and rental at various locations around the county. *Company issued uniforms may not be used for personal use.

Bed space is limited and reservations are required.. Rent amount per month varies by accommodation type and season. Deposit, admin fee and prorate months rent are required before you are provided a key. Beds are available on a first come/first serve basis. All rooms come furnished and with basic kitchen appliances. However you will need to provide: • Dishes (plates, bowls, cups, glasses) • Utensils (spoons, forks, knives, can opener, and larger utensils) • Pots and pans, general kitchen supplies • Bedding • Towels • Paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins) • Cleaning supplies

Employees’ behaviors and conduct while occupying employee housing directly affect their job status and their eligibility to live in employee housing. Infractions of housing policies may lead to eviction and termination of employment. There are scheduled room inspections in all units; you will be informed several days

prior to the inspection. If you have questions about what the inspection standards are, contact the housing office. Repeated violations may result in

eviction and termination of employment.

HOUSING IN THE COMMUNITY There are many options in the surrounding communities for housing. Generally, a single-occupancy room with access to a bathroom will cost about $550-$700 per month. For a list of available rentals visit: www.summitdaily.com or http://rockies.craigslist.org/ (High Rockies) Please note, it can be difficult to find local housing which allows pets. Plan to spend extra time looking for housing, and extra money on deposits or rent if you are bringing your dog or cat.

Jewelry All jewelry must be professional in appearance. One small nose stud is allowed. Up to two earrings or one solid gauge up to ½” maximum in each ear is allowed. All other facial jewelry or visible body piercings, including additional nose rings, gauges and tongue studs are not permitted. Concealing jewelry with a bandage or other means is not permitted. Uniforms Certain positions require employees to wear a uniform while working. Employees are expected to wear uniforms in the appropriate manner. Nametags must be worn and jackets zipped up to above nametag level. Promotional clothing that displays a message or promotes brands other than Vail Resorts and its strategic partners may not be worn while in uniform. All hats, where permitted, must be worn facing forward.

Grooming Standards It is important that the impression we give our guests in both service and appearance is professional and friendly. Our focus is on presenting a guest-friendly and approachable style that fosters interactions and communication between you and our guests.

Below are some key items from our presentation standards. Please be aware that final grooming standards are set by the department, and may be more stringent than the standards listed here. Tattoos Employees may have visible tattoos, except on the face and neck area, that are in good taste and not offensive. An employee may be asked to cover their tattoo with clothing while on duty and must comply if requested. Hair Hair should be clean, professional and kept back from the face. Extreme styles (e.g. Mohawks) are not permitted. Facial Hair Beards, goatees, sideburns and mustaches are allowed up to ¾” length maximum and must be neatly trimmed at all times. Otherwise, staff should be clean-shaven. Extreme styles are not permitted.

Employee Paperwork 1. Complete and submit online paperwork. 2. Complete first part of I-9 form once you receive an

email with your employee ID number 3. Confirm with your manager day, time and location

where you need to show your I-9 document to HR. 4. Bring to HR appropriate document to complete I-9

verification. Please refer the last page of this packet, or to page 9 of the following link for a list of acceptable documents for completion of paperwork: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf . Please note documents must be original (not copies) and must be unexpired.

All I-9 verification must be completed at a I-9 session prior to starting work. New Employee Orientation is required for new employees and will help orient you to Breckenridge and Vail Resorts.

Employee ID / Ski Passes Your employee ID is your ski pass and is how you clock in and out of work. Please do not lose it. You will receive your pass at the Gondola Ticket Office or at the Quicksilver Ticket Office located at the base of Peak 9. Your pass will be after showing your I-9 document to HR.

Paychecks The pay week is Saturday through Friday. Paychecks are distributed every two weeks through your manager. Please be aware that it may be 2 to 3 weeks before you receive your first paycheck. Additionally, our positions are weather dependent; hours may be lower in parts of the season. Hours may also be higher during holidays and busy periods. Parking for New Employee Orientation (NEO) It is recommended that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled NEO start time to allow sufficient time. Employee parking for New Employee Orientation is in the South Gondola lot. This is located on the South side of the Gondola/Transfer Station. When you arrive, tell the booth attendant your name and you will be able to park free of charge. Please note, if you arrive for a different NEO than you are scheduled, your name will not be on the list and you will be charged the customary guest fee. Once you have parked, you will need to take the shuttle or bus to the NEO location. NEOs are frequently held in the Village or the Double Tree; check with your manager for the correct location for your NEO.

From the Gondola lot, walk over to the Breckenridge Transfer Station to pick up either a Breckenridge shuttle or the Summit Stage bus. Shuttle and bus times vary depending on the time of year.

Bus Schedules Summit Stage http://www.co.summit.co.us/index.aspx?NID=360 Breck Free Ride http://www.breckfreeride.com Prior to Resort Opening (Nov. 7th), parking is free for everyone in the F Lot, which is walking distance to the Village and the Double Tree. Please note this is a town lot and we have no ability to refund fees if you park here when there is a charge. There is no employee parking available at the Village or in the Beaver Run lot. If you chose to park in the Beaver Run lot, you will be charged the customary guest fee and no refund will be available.

Breckenridge Peak 9 Office: (970) 496.5120 | M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm Located at the Village. Human Resources offices serve ALL Breckenridge resort employees , including mountain, rental, retail and hospitality.

Uniforms Uniforms are distributed by appointment through our Uniform Center. Please contact your manager for more details. The Uniform Center is located at the intersection of Point Valley and Continental Court, behind Colorado Mountain Collage.

Employee Perks & Benefits Vail Resorts is committed to providing exceptional experiences for its employees. All employees have a variety of benefits and perks available to them. An employee’s eligibility for benefits and perks will vary with employee classification. You will receive additional information when you complete your paperwork and during New Employee Orientation Some perks include: • A multi-mountain ski/ride pass & discounted tickets for friends

Altitude & Health Issues Above 8,000 feet, the altitude can affect anyone from lower elevations. Adverse symptoms may include headaches, nausea, loss of appetite, restless sleep, coughing, and difficulty in breathing. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. • Reduce alcohol, caffeine, and salty foods. • Drink 3 or 4 times more water than usual. • Take it easy if you are tired. • Do not push the limits of your physical capabilities.

Sun Protection Overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation can lead to sunburns and skin cancer. • Protect yourself 365 days a year. • Wear sunscreen or protective clothing, UV-blocking sunglasses, and a hat. • Select sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays, with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 or higher.

Variable Mountain Conditions • The alpine environment offers extreme and variable weather conditions which can change quickly. • Know your surroundings. • Check skin frequently for signs of frostbite (use the buddy system). • Take frequent “warm-up” breaks. • Dress properly (layers) for the conditions and anticipate changes. • Pay attention to slippery or snowy walkways, to avoid slips and falls.

Banks To open a bank account you will need to show a photo ID and will need to have a United States address. You can choose to have your paychecks deposited directly into your bank accounts. Direct Deposit is available online at my.vailresorts.com. Post Office Boxes & Mailing Information There is very limited mail delivery in Summit County and its towns. Most residents rent a post office box. To get a PO Box, you will need a photo ID and proof of residency in the area (lease, utility bill, etc). Boxes range from$27 for 6 months to $54 for a year.
