Last week was our orientation at James Fallon High School. We were given a tour and it was good to see how they do things there. It was very interesting and very exciting. It’s a very big place – you could get lost easily – and there are lots of things to do. They split us up into a couple of groups for each school. My group had the tour first and then recess before we had a class. It was all about seeing what was around and what’s to be expected. Things are done slightly differently at high school. They have three recesses, whereas we have only two, and their sport is a bit different to ours. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Albury North. The teachers are kind and if you need help, you can always go to them. The education here has always been great and I like the way they get you prepared for high school and how welcoming they are – from First Steps all the way up to Year 6. At first I was a bit scared about going to high school but now I’m easing into it. I might still be a bit confused in the first week but once I get into it, I’m sure I’ll start to like it a bit more. They gave us a booklet with a schedule of what time roll call is and first bell, all that kind of stuff. On December 3 we have a full day there so we’ll have to get our own transportation that day.

Parents are invited to attend an information session on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) at Glenroy Public School.

The session, on November 7, runs from 9.30-11.30am with morning tea provided.

NDIS co-ordinator Galiema Gool will speak about the processes and supports available and staff from Intereach will outline their services and the Early Childhood Early Intervention Program.

RSVP to the ANPS office on 02 6025 1730.

First Steps Will your child be starting Kindergarten next year? If so, the good news is you still have time to enrol them ahead of our First Steps program which starts next Friday (November 1). Join us every Friday throughout November from 12.30-3pm and get to know the teachers and students here at ANPS.

It’s a great way to get ready for school and there’s every chance you’ll make some friends along the way. We’ll be doing some literacy, numeracy, reading – and having a play of course. See the lovely ladies in the office for an enrolment form and have a chat to First Steps co-ordinator Mrs Stevens for more information. Silver and Gold Awards

Home Learning Your child will bring home their Table Talk book and readers / books for home learning. These two activities are having the most positive impact on our students learning. If you feel your child needs a home learning sheet as well, you can download a copy from our website or request one through the classroom teacher – just call the office or pop a note in your child’s lunchbox.

TELL THEM FROM ME Students are now taking part in the Tell Them From Me survey with parents and teachers having already had their say. Q. Why are we doing this? A. The survey helps teachers know your feelings towards school, any problems and ideas for making school better.

Q. Do I have to do this? A. It’s voluntary – so not if you really don’t want to. You can stop at any time or skip a question. Q. Is this a test? A. No. There are no right or wrong answers. Nothing you say will be connected with you so please be honest! Q. Will anyone see my answers?

A. This survey is completely private and confidential. Your teachers, friends and parents will never know your answers. Q. Where do my answers go? A. To the Learning Bar database server over a secure line. Your answers are combined with those of other students in the same year and school.
