EXIT: In a building, room or space used for assembly purposes that has an occupant load of greater than 300 and is provided with a

or public way. In a building, room or space used for assembly purposes where there is no well-defi ned main exit or where multiple
main exits are provided, exits shall be permitted to be distributed around the perimeter of the building provided that the total width of
egress is not less than 100 percent of the required width. (Ch. 10 Sec. 1028.2)
In addition to having access to a main exit, each level in a building used for assembly purposes having an occupant load greater
than 300 and provided with a main exit, shall be provided with additional means of egress that shall provide an egress capacity for

for at least one-half of the total occupant load served by that level and shall comply with Section 1015.2. In a building used for
assembly purposes where there is no well-defi ned main exit or where multiple main exits are provided, exits for each level shall be
permitted to be distributed around the perimeter of the building, provided that the total width of egress is not less than 100 percent of
the required width. (Ch. 10 Sec. 1028.3)
MAXIMUM TRAVEL DISTANCE TO EXIT: Exits and aisles shall be so located that the travel distance to an exit door shall not be grea-
ter than 200’ measured along the line of travel in nonsprinklered buildings. Travel distance shall not be more than 250’ in sprinklered
buildings. Where aisles are provided for seating, the distance shall be measured along the aisles and aisle accessway without travel
over or on the seats. (Ch. 10 Sec. 1027)
CORRIDOR WIDTH: Doors, when fully opened, shall not reduce the required width by more than 7 inches (178 mm). Doors in any
position shall not reduce the required width by more than one-half. (Chap. 10 Sec. 1005.7.1)
STAIRWAY: The capacity, in inches, of means of egress stairways shall be calculated by multiplying the occupant load served by
such stairway by a means of egress capacity factor of 0.2 inch per occupant. (1000 occupants X 0.2” = 200” or 16.6’) (Chap. 10 Sec.
1005.3.2)
Riser height – 4” minimum - 7” maximum. Tread Run – 11”. Vertical distance between landings – 12’ maximum.
RAMP: Width - 36” minimum requirement. 48” provided. Slope – 1:12 for egress or accessibility. Landing – maximum distance be-
tween landing is 30”.
COMMON PATH OF EGRESS TRAVEL: The common path of egress travel shall not exceed 30 feet (9144 mm) from any seat to a
point where an occupant has a choice of two paths of egress travel to two exits. (Ch. 10 Sec. 1028.8)
SEATING
SEATS: 1220 provided. For rows with egress on both ends; the maximum row can have 100 seats, and the minimum clear row spa-
cing: 12” + 0.3” for every seat above 14. Clear row is never to exceed 22”.
WHEELCHAIR PLACES: 501 – 5000 seats requires 6 plus 1 additional place for every 150 seats thereof. (1000 seats – 501 seats =
499 seats. 499/150 = 3.3 places. 6 places + 4 additional places = 10 places)
FIXTURE COUNT
WATER CLOSETS: Male – 1/125 (1000 occupants / 125 = 8 water closets) required. 18 provided. Female – 1/65 (1000 occu-
pants / 65 = 15.4 water closets) required. 24 provided
LAVATORIES: Male – 1/200 (1000 occupants / 200 = 5 lavatories) required. 12 provided.
DRINKING FOUNTAINS: 1/500 (1000 occupants / 500 = 2 drinking fountains) required. 24 provided.
PARKING
SPACES: 250 spaces. 0.25 to 0.5 spaces per seat or occupant. (1000 occupants X 0.25 spaces = 250 spaces)
ACCESSIBLE SPACES: 10 for every 100 spaces (25 Spaces). Accessible car spaces must be 96” wide, and accessible van spaces
must be 132” wide. All accessible parking spaces must have a 60” wide aisle on at least one side.
