Nosotros como staff siempre buscamos la manera de ayudar a la comunidad de Nosara, la limpieza de playa es una de nuestras actividades más populares. El 2 de setiembre, 21 personas de nuestro staff fuimos a la playa, y recogimos alrededor de 23 kg de basura...esto en solamente una hora. El mayor residuo que encontramos son los escombros de plástico, representan la mayor amenaza para los animales ya que estos los pueden tragar y/o ahogar con ellos.

Our staff members are always looking for ways to help out in the Nosara Community, so beach clean-ups are a popular activity for us. On September 2nd, 21 of our staff members headed to the beach and together we picked up a total of 23 kg of trash…this in just 1 hour. The beach is mainly contaminated with plastic debris, which is the biggest threat for animals because they can swallow and/or choke on it.

Hicimos otra limpieza de playa en conjunto con el Comité de Bandera Azul. El 20 de setiembre recolectamos 60 kg de basura. Más miembros de la comunidad se unieron a la causa, y entre todos aportamos al día de la Limpieza de Costas.

We did another clean up in collaboration with the Bandera Azul committee on September 20th and we were able to gather 60 kg of non-recyclable waste. Many more people from the community joined us in this day, to honor the International Coastal Clean Up Day.

Fiesta del Staff de HarmonyHarmony´s Staff Party

El 11 de Setiembre tuvimos nuestra fiesta anual de staff. Fuimos a Finca Austria a pasar el día y pudimos disfrutar de diferentes actividades. Juegos inflables, fútbol, tennis y paint-ball fueron algunas de las actividades que pudimos realizar. Gracias a Betsy y Jacke por organizar este día.

On September 11 we had our annual staff party. We went to Finca Austria to spend tha day, where we enjoyed different activities; such as inflatable games, soccer, tennis and paint-ball. Big thanks to Betsy and Jacke for organizing this celebration day.

También tuvimos un torneo amistoso de fútbol interno. Siete equipos se formaron y compitieron entre sí por 2 semanas. Fueron noches cargadas de energía, emoción y familia. Felicidades al EQUIPO 1, de Mantenimiento y Jardín por el triunfo.

We also had a friendly soccer tournament, with seven teams were created from our Harmony Project´s members.They competed with each other for two weeks, filled with nights of energy, excitement and family. Congratulations to TEAM 1, Maintenance and Garden, for getting the first place.

Estamos en una zona de gran diversidad, con increíble naturaleza. La flora y fauna que tenemos alrededor necesitan de nuestra protección. Aproximadamente un 20% del territorio costarricense está protegido por medio de refugios, parques y reservas.

We are in a rich area, filled with great biodiversity and amazing nature. The flora and fauna that surrounds us needs our protection. Around 20% of Costa Rica´s territory is protected with refuges, national parks and reserves.

-Plantar árboles-No contaminar-Cuidar nuestros recursos y utilizarlos de manera consciente-No comprar, vender o alimentar vida silvestre y salvaje-Reportar incendios y casos de emergencia animal-Reducir el consumo de productos plásticos y desechables-Reducir/Reutilizar/Reciclar

En el mes de Octubre comenzaron los talleres de eduación ambiental a cargo de Earth Equilibrium. Esta es una organización sin fines de lucro, la cual se encarga de desarrollar los programas de “Learning is Change” y “Building for the Future”. Es la primera vez que el programa de “Learning is Change” se realiza en la zona de Nosara, siendo la Escuela de Santa Marta nuestra primera sede. Estos talleres se imparten una vez por semana, durante siete semanas y personas de nuestro staff participan como voluntarios en las sesiones. Aproximadamente 20 niños de 4 y 5 grado se interesaron en participar. El tema de este primer encuentro fue el Océano.

EARTH EQUILIBRIUM // Learning is ChangeEnvironmental Workshops

The “Learning is Change” environmental workshops began in the month of October. Earth Equilibrium is a non-profit organization in charge of developing the Learning is Change and Building for the Future programs. It is the first time these workshops are done in the area of Nosara, specifically we began with the Santa Marta School. Here around 20 students from 4 and 5 grade decided to join us. The workshop is given once a week for seven weeks. The subject developed during this first encounter was the Ocean.
