Customer Reviews About Lenovo G50

I needed a new laptop after my HP was pooping the bed. I've had it for about 3

days of heavy use and I will give you the positives and negatives, and overall

impressions.

Positive: Big screen, big keyboard, fast (after cleanup, which I will get to in a bit),

good battery life, fan runs very quietly.

Negative: Mouse pad is glitchy at times, bloatware, plastic shell and finish stain

and feel uncomfortable at times.

As far as the machine itself, I find it to be a good basic machine with enough juice

for doing what I want to without sputtering. The caveat there is I am not doing

anything to really push the machine. I found I had to go into the Intel control panel

settings to get the right contrast. Not sure why they make that adjustment hard to

find, but I suppose that's more a question for Microsoft than Lenovo.

Customer Reviews About Lenovo G50

First the good stuff. Perfect size and display and CD Rom/RW/DVD drive. According

to Lenovo this computer will handle 16 GB ram. I had an extra 4 GB stick and

installed. Now for the cons. If you ever start your computer and it doesn't do

anything but give you a blank screen, remove the battery, press your start button

and hold down for at least 5 to 10 seconds and reinstall battery. this should allow

you to start your computer. How do I know this? Well, my son is the IT Director in

our town and this happens sometimes to their Lenovo and another brand that rimes

with BELL. Also, the Amazon Basic bag is perfect for this computer.

After a few weeks, I'm still very impressed with the value/cost of this unit. The

build quality is a bit of the cheap side (you can feel a bit of a give when you use

the key board), but again, this is an "entry level" system. I would not recommend

this for heavy use or intense graphics or video editing. I connect mine to a external

monitor and key board.

Customer Reviews About Lenovo G50

OVERALL: I like this laptop; It looks spectacular, it feels nice, it's light and thin,

very very useful and nice. BUT: I really hate using the mouse buttons, it could just

be that they look like they were sunken down a little more but I don't know. All I

know is I had to have my finger basically vertical and push straight down with more

effort than what, I felt, was needed in order to "click." Again, not a big deal if you

like just tapping the tackpad (or using a mouse) or if you don't have big fingers,

but I'm used to my thumb pressing buttons and it was a little awkward/weird for

me.

Yes I have to agree with one of the more recent reviews. I just received mine, ran

the software to check for superfish bloatware and/or superfish certificate pre-

installed on computer and came up empty. So far so good. I've downloaded google

chrome as my browser b/c i dont trust explorer as well as Open Office and

everything is running smoothly so far. Start up and Shut down are extremely quick

as well, as expected with an i3 processor. Hopefully windows 10 won't ruin

anything.BestLaptopAdvisor.com

This laptop is an amazing value. As soon as you remove it from the box, you

can tell that build quality is superb, especially for this price point. The shell

appears to be some lightweight metal alloy, thought it may be some plastic-

metal concoction.

At any rate, it feels durable and strong. I have owned much more expensive

Dells in the past that have felt much cheaper in their construction. For this

particular computer I was worried about the integrity of the hinges, as I

plan to use it in all positions and switch between them frequently, but after

a few weeks they still inspire confidence (the hinges themselves are made

of an even sturdier metal).

I have only had this for 2 days, and I love it. Great alternative to the Surface.

I did copy the HD to a SSD before I even booted to Windows for the first time,

compared to the display model I played with at a big box store, it is way

faster.

So far I have not experienced any of the mouse, or auto-rotate lag that

other reviewers have discussed, maybe because I uninstalled all the

bloatware and other unnecessary apps that run in the background. I have it

running MS Office 2010, and other software that I use daily, and no issues.

my only complaint would be that the screen is not Full HD.

I have owned many electronic gadgets over the years. I really enjoy tablets and love cell phones. But this is one my new favorites. You can make it whatever you want it to be and windows apps are growing every day. I was planning on using an android galaxy tab pro as a replacement desktop/laptop. Tried it for a week and sold it. While the display looked great there is nothing like having a desktop where to store stuff, the ability to buy an external DVD play and have it work just fine for DVD movies and games, and the functionality of again, whatever you want it to be.

Really if your looking for a tablet but are torn between the tablet and laptop infrastructure, but want something with faster speeds and more versatility than the tablets that disconnect from the keyboard and are tablets on their own (Like having the ability at a moments notice to plug in an external DVD player and CD RW drive via USB), then this is an excellent choice. The 11.6 screen is great for mobility and is a perfect cross over.

So basically, this is the best deal I could have made. Things just fell into

place. The laptop has its ups and downs, but for 300 usd is an excellent

acquisition, the best I could have gotten. What I mean is that yes, we all

know enough about computers to know a Core i7 is a better option than an

i3, but we are checking this particular item for a reason and that's budget.

Given the low price, I believe this laptop will offer more benefits than

anyone expects. With its bright wide screen, numpad, webcam, ethernet

port, hdmi port, optiocal driver and burner, Core i3 processor and 6 Gb of

RAM it is basically a gift! I'm sure in the future I'll get myself a super laptop

thatcan take anything, but for the time being this one seems to handle the

average work pretty well.

This is a nice laptop for the price, however, the description on Amazon is

deceiving, it CLEARLY says that the laptop comes loaded with Windows 8.1,

the one I received absolutely did not. When I checked the OS, it was loaded

with Windows 8. I realize this is more of a inconvenience than anything. After

loading the 96 Windows updates, this took eight hours to complete, I was

finally able to upgrade to Windows 8.1. Expect to spend some time setting up

this laptop. Although this laptop comes loaded with an icon for Microsoft

office, it is just that, an icon that takes you to a page where you can

purchase office.
