• Many projects deal most of the time with behaviour change – persuading / inspiring (want to)– enabling e.g. by providing resources (can do)– but also by ensuring partners know how to achieve the
(intermediate) goal• If these 3 elements are not assured, the change will not
happen.• Outcome Mapping argues that most of the time the
project’s influence goes outwards via a chain of partners. In each link of the chain we should consider these three elements for the specific partner or group of partners
The project plan
• So in a traditional logframe or project plan we can show how each step of the intervention involves improving 1,2 or 3 of these elements for a given partner or partner group
• Behaviour Change Lego just goes one step further by explicitly including these three elements at each step, whether or not they are addressed directly by the intervention. Here is an example:

If a YP is active and effective now, will they still be influencing others in the future?
Do we think about their “careers”?
Will their motivation, ability and knowledgestill be effective?

How to make a whole project plan?
• You can snap together these elements to make a whole project plan aka logframe
• But for some projects, we don’t in fact have a complete overarching plan. Think of, say, a youth club. We just have a number of different activities, some of them are long-term, some of them evolve as situations change… and each of can be described with Behaviour change Lego chains – some fit together into a bigger plan, some don’t.
