Interior Inspection Resume

As we move into Phase 3 and the reopening of the State, the Community Development Department will re-

sume all inspections for both residential and commercial buildings. For our safety and yours, please take note

of the below guidelines.

1. Kindly reschedule if you or a member of your household has

been exposed to COVID-19 or has symptoms. The Village will not

charge a cancellation fee in this circumstance.

2. Only one household member may be present inside the home

during the inspection.

3. A maximum of one contractor may be present inside the home

during the inspection.

4. All present must be 18+ years of age and wear a face covering.

5. Social distancing of 6 feet or greater must be adhered to by all those present.

6. The Village Building Inspector will reschedule if these guidelines are not followed.

7. The Village Building Inspector will wear a mask and may wear gloves.

Business License Renewal

While the annual renewal process was partially postponed due

to COVID-19, we are now in full swing. Let your employees

know to expect an inspector in July or August and to provide

their full cooperation. An inspection checklist is available to

help you prepare to pass the inspection at the first visit. As a

convenience to businesses, the Village and Fire Protection Dis-

tricts are once again coordinating their inspections whenever

possible to minimize the interruptions to your work.

As a reminder, your application and invoice for payment was sent in May, and can be completed entirely

online in 5–10 minutes. Let the Village Hall know if you need a copy. Visit the Business License page on the

Village website for more information.

Maintaining Grass in Common Areas

Please be reminded that residents are responsible for cutting grass in neighborhood com-

mon areas such as cul-de-sacs and the area between a sidewalk and street. We applaud

those residents that work together to keep their neighborhood attractive.

Annual Maintenance Programs

Sidewalk Replacement Program

This is an annual maintenance program to replace damaged sections of sidewalk throughout the Village. The

program focuses on replacing sidewalks with trip hazards. The Engineering Department conducts a survey

every few years to evaluate the current condition of sidewalks throughout the Village.

Curb Replacement Program

This is an annual maintenance program to replace hazardous, broken

and missing curb throughout the Village. The engineering depart-

ment conducts a survey every few years to evaluate the current condi-

tion of curbs throughout the Village.

Crack Sealing

This program is designed to perform preventive maintenance on re-

cently resurfaced asphalt streets throughout the Village by sealing

cracks that have developed. The goal of the program is to extend the

life cycle of the pavement. Pavement crack sealing is one of the best

and most cost effective preventive maintenance techniques to prolong

the life cycle of asphalt pavement.

Pavement Marking Program

This is an annual maintenance program to place new pavement markings with a thermoplastic material on

streets throughout the Village. The priorities for striping include school zones and school crosswalks, the

business districts and high volume streets.

Street Sweeping

The sweeping of Village streets continues to provide many benefits to residents and the community. Street

sweeping is effective at removing both large and small pollutants that collect along the Village’s streets.

Sweepers collect and remove paper, refuse materials, leaves and other debris which can collect in the gutters.

These types of debris are considered pollutants, thereby threaten the storm water collection system and also

block storm water inlets which results in localized flooding during heavy precipitation. Equally important, is

the collection of metal particles and hazardous waste left behind from passing vehicles which are extremely

harmful to the environment.

Virtual Family Fun Fridays

With limitations of gatherings, the Center decided to try something

new. On Friday June 12th, we kicked off our new Virtual Family

Fun Fridays.

The kids logged onto Zoom for JG’s Reptile Zoom Show. They got to see all kinds

of cool reptiles and learn lots of things about these creatures. Fun was had by one

and all.

Be sure to check out the website for future Virtual Family Fun Friday events. www.rlbciviccenter.com

From the Round Lake Beach Police Department

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s National Night Out has

been rescheduled to October 6th at the Round Lake Beach Lakefront

Park. This event is designed to strengthen the community spirit and in-

crease the awareness of crime and how to prevent it. This event hopes to

recognize and enhance the police-community partnership. Last year’s

event attracted over 2,000 residents. Please mark your calendars and

come out and meet your police department. There will be many activi-

ties: music, a car show, and hot dogs served! The event will be free and

open to the public. Come out, ask questions, and show your support as

you celebrate National Night Out with your community!
