We thank you that you do not leave us alone but labor to make us whole.

Help us to perceive your unseen hand in the unfolding of our lives, and to attend to the gentle guidance of your Spirit, that we may know the joy you give your people. Amen.

THE CALL TO PRAYER

A TIME OF SILENCE (for personal prayer)

THE COMMUNITY AT PRAYER (in unison))Holy God,

your Spirit lifts us like the melody of a song and comforts us like a parent's warm embrace.

We are humbled by your constant love for us, and we walk in amazement at your forgiveness.

Page 5: July 18 Bulletin

Holy God, we offer prayers of thanks and gratitude, and we turn to you in our need.

We ask for an understanding that comes from the heart and not from the head aloneso that we may see beyond numbers, bottom lines, stereotypes, and appearances, and truly see with the eyes of love.

We ask for your healing presence, for assurance for those despairing, the restoration of bodies broken and ill, the wondrous and mysterious touch that helps us live a new day.

We ask for a lessening of hatred and fear in our world, for a sharing of the world's resources, for yet another step toward peace.

We pray for our church,a sense of your grace and guidance, a large measure of confidence,a blessing on our coming week.

We ask this in the name of the One who taught us to pray . . .
