BASIC FACE MASK SEWING INSTRUCTIONS Materials Sewing Machine Thread Pins Scissors 1/8 yd Pattern 100% Cotton, Tight Knit 1/8 yd Plain color 100% Cotton (2) pieces of 7in of ¼ in elastic Instructions 1. Cut a 9”x”6” rectangle out of both types of fabric. 2. Put right sides of fabric together and pin to hold in place. 3. Cut 2 pieces of elastic 7” long 4. Starting midway on one on the long edges, sew with a 1/4in seam up to the first corner and stop with about 1” remaining. 5. Place a piece of the elastic between the two pieces of fabric, with the end in the corner, flush with the edges. 6. Hold in place and sew to the corner, ensuring to sew through the elastic. 7. Continue sewing down the short side, stopping with 1” left. 8. Grab the other end of the elastic you have already sewn in place, and bring the other end to this corner and hold in place. 9. Continue sewing, ensuring to catch the elastic. 10. Turn the corner and sew down the entire length of the next side, leaving 1”. 11. Take your second piece of elastic and place it between the two pieces of fabric, placing the end in the corner you are about to sew. 12. Hold the elastic in place and sew to the end of the long side, ensuring to sew the elastic. 13. Turn the corner and sew to the end of the last short side, leaving 1”. 14. Reach inside the fabric and find the end of the elastic you just sewed, place the end in the remaining corner, ensuring your elastic is not twisted. 15. Hold the elastic in place and sew to the corner. 16. Turn the corner and sew, leaving a 2” gap between where you end and where you started. 17. Turn inside out. Be sure to pull on the elastic corners to pull the mask square. 18. Pin 2 Tucks on each side, in the same direction. (see images) 19. Sew all the way around the pattern with a ¼” seam twice. 20. elasticisnottwisted.15. Holdtheelasticinplaceandsewtothecorner.16. Turnthecornerandsew,leavinga2”gapbetweenwhereyouendandwhereyoustarted.17. Turninsideout.Besuretopullontheelasticcornerstopullthemasksquare.18. Pin2Tucksoneachside,inthesamedirection.(seeimages)19. Sewallthewayaroundthepatternwitha¼”seamtwice.20. Cutloosethreads.
